Thirteen Laments of the Imperial Mother

The Thirteen Laments of the Imperial Mother (皇母十三嘆, Huangmu Shisan Tan) is a Yiguandao (一貫道) spirit-writing scripture received on the first day of the seventh month in the bingzi year -- August 17, 1936 -- through the planchette at a Dao altar in China.

The text opens with a grand celestial procession unlike anything else in the Yiguandao canon: twenty-four immortals, buddhas, patriarchs, and heavenly marshals -- including Confucius, Shakyamuni Buddha, Laozi, Bodhidharma, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Ji Gong, and Guanyin -- each announce themselves in verse as they escort the Eternal Venerable Mother's chariot from the Jade Heaven down to the mortal world. The procession embodies Yiguandao's central doctrine: the Three Teachings (Confucianism, Buddhism, Daoism) and all spiritual traditions serve the same Mother and the same Dao.

The Mother then delivers a lengthy preface in four-character couplets -- her general teaching on the end times and the descent of the Dao -- before the thirteen laments begin. Each lament names a different form of spiritual failure among her original children: lost hearts, foolish confusion, attachment to fame and profit, evil deeds, stubborn delusion. Between laments, the spirit-writing brush pauses for the human mediums (三才, sancai) to rest, and a transition quatrain marks each shift. The text is composed in ten-character paired verse (十言對句), the characteristic meter of Yiguandao spirit-writing.

The scripture belongs to the morality book (善書, shanshu) tradition and was revealed through spirit-writing (扶乩, fuji). The Chinese source text is from a Pixnet blog archive (l1i9c4h3e0n.pixnet.net), originally published on the Morality Books Library (善書圖書館, taolibrary.com, Category 61). The copyright notice states: "Welcome to reprint, upload, reproduce, and circulate" (歡迎轉載,上傳,翻印,流通). This is the first English translation.


The Celestial Escort

A golden edict drifts through mist, reaching the Cloud Pass.
A host of immortals guards the carriage, departing the Palace of Vast Coldness.
Golden lotuses bloom beneath each step;
the cloud-chariot gently descends to the Central Plain.

I am the Cloud-Wandering Great Immortal. I lead the host of immortals to escort the Mother's carriage from the Azure Heaven to the Eastern Garden. All be solemn -- let there be no clamor.

The four seasons turn their weather;
the great earth knows no peace.
The Heavenly Way appears in the world of dust;
the Kingly Way selects the worthy.

I am the Four Great Heavenly Kings. We escort the Mother's carriage from Mount Penglai.

One crack of thunder resounds through all the world of dust;
unfilial children clutch their hearts.
The laws are stern -- ghosts and spirits tremble;
the golden whip strikes only the wicked.

I am the Eight Divisions of Thunder Gods. We escort the Mother's carriage from the Jade Forest. All be solemn -- no idle talk.

In the four directions the Dao shines; the seas do not raise waves.
At the Dragon-Flower Assembly of the Three Meetings, the princes ascend to the examination.

I am the Dragon Kings of the Four Seas. We escort the Mother's carriage from the Buddha Pavilion to the Saha world. All be still -- no idle speech.

The laws are stern and suffer no sentiment;
the resolute obey them all.
The Heavenly Way seeks the worthy --
the wicked are swept clean.

I am Zhang, the Marquis of Huan, Lord of the Law. I escort the Mother's carriage from the Jade Land. All be solemn -- no clamor. Stand steady and answer the Imperial Mother.

The reward of good and the punishment of evil have no gate of their own --
they are summoned by each person and borne by each person.
The reckoning of virtue and vice is fixed and manifest;
the order of Heaven does not shift by half a hair.

I am the Great Emperor of the Eastern Peak. The Mother's carriage nears the Buddha Palace. All must still their hearts.

This vital energy is supremely great, supremely firm;
the noble one guards the Dao and seeks the wondrous method.
The Great Dao, hidden yet omnipresent --
contemplate its mystery and seek the Eternal.

I am Wang of the Right Army. I attend the Mother's carriage as it departs the Jade Land.

Reclining high among the white clouds,
breathing in and out blue lotuses.
To the left, plum-deer play;
to the right, white cranes frolic.
A gnarled staff gripped in hand,
a gourd tied at the waist --
departing the realm of Penglai,
swift steps to the Dharma altar.

I am the Great Emperor of Eternal Life. I attend the Mother's carriage from the Southern Pole. All be solemn -- no idle laughter.

The Dao descends in the Third Epoch to meet the end of days;
such an auspicious hour has been hard to encounter since antiquity.
Each inch of sunlight must be cherished, never wasted --
when the boat reaches the heart of the river, it is too late to patch the leak.

I am the Heavenly First-Ranked Immortal. I attend the Heavenly Mother's carriage as it departs the Palace of Vast Coldness. The audience is complete -- all refrain from clamor.

Frost and cold descend upon the grasses, and the trees wither;
the original children have forgotten their origin and entered the maze.
Heaven sends down the True Dao to find its sons and daughters --
together may they return in one body to the Jade Capital.

I am Patriarch Bodhidharma. I attend the Mother's carriage to the Eastern Land. The Mother's carriage draws near -- let there be no outcry.

Pure and still, the Heavenly Principle shines like crystal,
lively and responsive to each turn.
The sunlight reflects upon the face of the great cosmos;
all the ten thousand things are bathed in its grace.
True faith, known within and without -- the True Heavenly Way
spreads and pervades every place.
It shelters the original children with everlasting years,
dwelling forever in the Garden of Supreme Joy.

I am Lu Chunyang, Floating Aid, of the Rock of the Way. I attend the Mother's carriage from the Palace of Vast Coldness. The audience is complete -- stand steady at your stations.

The Dao is vast, its principle subtle -- be diligent in contemplation and hold fast.
The flow of virtue is swifter than the posting of a courier.
Heaven's time is urgent -- do not retreat in your hearts.
Follow the Dao, guard its principle, and strive forward.

I am the Celestial Worthy of the Dao and Its Virtue, Li. I attend the Mother's carriage as it departs the Jade Splendor. The Mother's carriage draws near -- all still your breath.

When the crucial aperture is opened, all principle becomes clear;
the web of delusion shatters into crystal.
The domain of the sages, the pass of the worthies -- the swift-footed arrive first;
strive forward without sloth, and trials shall not arise.
The Emperor's virtue is vast and boundless -- eighteen thousand years come to their end;
cultivate your merit and enjoy both the pure and the worldly.
The noble one pursues the Dao with propriety;
hold both ends, use the center -- and you may be called a worthy of the Way.

I am the Sagely Emperor Lord Guan. I escort the Mother's carriage from the Heavenly Court. The Mother's carriage has arrived. All must be sincere in heart -- calm your breath and do not act in haste.

The paulownia sheds its leaves early; the fallen leaves drift and drift.
The autumn wind howls and howls, waking the deluded from their dreams.
Good and faithful ones -- ascend the Bridge of Heaven together!
The death-mists are vast; the great kalpa overflows.
Many are the wicked who cannot escape --
without the Heavenly Way, nothing can be settled.

I am Ji Gong of the Southern Screen. I attend the Mother's carriage to the Court of Law. The Mother draws near -- all quiet your hearts.

The moon shines on the slanting sun among secluded bamboo;
auspicious clouds rise a hundred feet around the tower of the immortals.
In the Third Epoch I received my charge to uphold the Holy Way --
my compassionate heart for the salvation of the world can never be repaid.

I am the Ancient Buddha of the Southern Sea. I attend the Mother's carriage from the Jade Pavilion. All still your hearts -- no idle speech.

A towering spirit, clouds parting, a will supremely firm --
a heroic heart set upon an age the world cannot subdue.
Those of resolve who stand in the age of the Third Epoch --
the True Dao unites the inner sage and the outer king.

I am the Marshal of Heaven's Patrols. I accompany the Mother's carriage from the Jade Land. The audience is complete -- no clamor.

The Jade Rabbit sinks in the west; the sun rises in the east.
The Golden Crow shines bright across the great crimson cosmos.
The Seal governs the Three Realms and selects the worthy --
the laws are stern, and ghosts and spirits quake.

I am the Grand Marshal of the Jade Seal. The Mother comes to court. All still your hearts -- let no one make a sound.

Six feet of orphaned resolve, harboring supreme firmness;
a lord's charge of a hundred leagues, nothing concealed.
The foolish, once they receive the Dao, become worthies;
the weak, once they understand principle, become strong.

I am Maomeng, the Marshal Who Guards the Hall. I lead my brothers-in-arms to escort the Mother's carriage from the Golden Jade. All be solemn -- no clamor.

Utmost precision, utmost subtlety -- discerning truth from falsehood.
The holy realm of Supreme Joy rests entirely in human effort.
The wondrous Dao of Former Heaven descends to the world of dust --
master and disciple, strive together to bring back the ninety-two.

I am the Most Holy Former Teacher, Kong. I attend the Mother's carriage from the Jade Palace.

Thus have I heard -- observe your own heart.
Coming and going have no form -- truly wondrous, truly mysterious.
The Pure Land of Supreme Joy in the Western Realm --
the Heavenly Way has prepared the Assembly of the Three Sources.

I am the Tathagata of the Western Heaven. I attend the Mother's carriage from the Jade Steps.

East, west, south, north -- the Dao shines in grandeur;
there is no place that is not the true Way's root.
Its brilliant and exquisite principle is transmitted to the worthy --
vast practice, immeasurable, of the greatest merit.
The Emperor opens his compassion to call the original people,
seeking those of resolve, the greatly worthy.
When the king rules with the Dao, all under heaven is governed;
a unified realm, generation upon generation, in peace.

I am the Emperor-Lord of the Eastern Bloom. I attend the Mother's carriage to the Buddha Court. The Mother has arrived -- all cleanse your hearts.

The moon shines bright across a thousand autumns;
its radiant wisdom makes the demons mourn.
Bodhi lights the path of awakening;
the bodhisattva gathers the worthy companions.

I am Yuehui Bodhisattva. I attend the Mother's carriage to the Buddha Tower. The Mother has arrived -- await with sincere hearts.

The Great Dao shines clearly, answering the Third Epoch;
the worthy and the true uphold the foundation of the Way.
The weak become strong; all under heaven is governed;
the mountains and rivers are restored, and a new order established.

I am the Golden Patriarch in White Robes. I attend the Heavenly Mother's carriage from the Jade Splendor. The audience before the Holy Chariot is complete -- the brush shall not yet write.

Auspicious clouds swirl and shimmer through the colored haze;
I have left the Jade Palace and descend to the world of dust.
The Dao calls back the original children to return to their courts --
those who embrace the Dao can come home.

We are the Two Cloud-Treasure Attendants. We accompany the Mother to the court.

Thorns and leaves drift down to early autumn;
the lost sons and daughters do not turn their heads.
The evening drum and the morning bell ring across the world,
startling the good and worthy from their sleep.
The Third Epoch is the time of gathering --
squander this blessed hour, and the heart can never repay the debt.
I have left the Golden Palace and arrived at the Buddha Court
to tell the gathered worthies the root of the matter.

I am the Wuji Holy Mother. I have come to meet the gathered worthies. All rest a moment. The mediums shall step down from the altar. Rest a short while, then mount the altar again.


The Mother's Preface

Your Mother has come to court
to set forth this preface.
Children before the altar --
wash your ears and hear the truth.

Now the time has come:
the spring of the final kalpa.
Propriety and righteousness are being restored;
the bonds of civilization renewed.

The world's customs have declined
and ruined the human heart.
No one speaks of virtue;
the eternal bonds are extinguished.

No one speaks of Heaven's principle;
no one regards the conscience.
Sound and form, wealth and profit --
delusion, lust, greed, and rage.

They sink lower and lower,
deeper and deeper into the maze.
Their heads refuse to turn;
their wicked hearts will not change.

The Dao and the kalpa descend together
to set the red dust in order:
the good shall rise to life;
the wicked shall sink and drown.

Those of resolve may receive
a wondrous text beyond compare.
Those whose wicked hearts do not change
shall never recover.

Through all the ages they shall sink
in suffering and delusion.
If you do not cultivate now,
you squander the blessed hour.

Such an auspicious time is rare to meet;
the Dao's hidden existence --
the Great Dao does not reveal itself
until the hour of merit dawns.

Merit and virtue in practice
rest entirely in your own measure.
If you do not awaken now,
if you do not study this wondrous text --

one misstep of thought,
and you plunge into the bitter depths.
Once you board the shore of the Dao,
first set your heart right.

Overcome yourself and restore propriety;
all under heaven returns to benevolence.
The sooner the Great Dao spreads,
the sooner you find peace.

The living mechanism of Heaven
turns with each passing season --
nothing is fixed; all rests
on your share of the Dao.

If the Dao shines forth early,
all under heaven rises to peace.
If the Dao shines forth late,
the wicked are all gathered in.

This occasion is not like
any that came before.
This occasion is truly
the final turn of the wheel.

The final move --
the Valley Spirit of the origin.
To transcend life and death --
all passes through this gate.

The road home,
the truth of the original --
ever pure, ever still,
selfishness exhausted, principle made true.

Strive to contemplate,
ponder with a careful heart;
trace the wondrous principle
and arrive at the utmost truth.

Nothing you will not understand,
everything made clear.
To hear the Great Dao
is to be a person of the Way.

Work with Heaven on its affairs;
transform others on Heaven's behalf.
Embody the virtue of Heaven
and protect the primal spirit.

Guard the Dao, follow its principle --
then you are truly worthy.
No leaning, no bias,
no trace of self-interest.

Utmost fairness, utmost principle,
utmost sincerity, utmost truth.
In the open stands Heaven's virtue;
in the unseen, the ghosts and spirits.

Every gesture, every movement --
the truth of inner and outer.
The cultivator of the Way must study this,
keeping watch at every moment.

Guard your speech, be cautious in action --
as if treading on thin ice.
Embrace the Dao and press forward;
strive to transform others.

The great affairs of all under heaven
shall be made clear and apportioned.
All rests with the resolute --
ferry the worthy to truth.

The greatly wise, the greatly discerning --
return early to the gate of the Buddha.
When all under heaven is clear and calm,
auspicious clouds will fill the air.

The Great Dao shines in grandeur,
and everywhere are worthy people.
Those who meet the Dao become good;
those who lose it lose the truth.

Day by day, hold fast;
hour by hour, keep watch.
Follow the Dao, follow its principle --
do not stray into false gates.

Act according to principle,
perfect yourself, transform others.
You need only guard the principle
to be a sage and true.

Bowing and burning incense
is merely the heart's expression.
You need only guard the Dao
to be an original person.

Follow the principle and press forward --
trials and demons cannot reach you.
Those of resolve who see through it all --
do not let your hearts be deluded.

A deluded heart handling affairs
cannot reach the center.
First you must understand the principle;
then the heart naturally becomes right.

If the principle is not clear,
how can you know the root?
Not knowing root from branch --
no sloth, but no effort either.

Have a beginning and an end;
trace the principle step by step.
True principle is indeed
without shadow, without sound.

Without voice, without scent,
hard to hear, hard to perceive.
If you cling to appearances,
you cannot discern the truth.

The True Dao, the True Principle --
nothing in it is empty talk.
Follow the principle everywhere;
let everything be made clear.

Where there is principle, there is the correct Way;
where there is no principle, there are only false gates.
The resolute and the worthy --
discern the true from the false.

What is true? What is false?
Trace the principle carefully, and you will know.
The Heavenly Dao and its true principle --
false gates have no root.

Without source, without lineage --
how can they call themselves true?
The True Dao's transmission
has been honored generation after generation.

The Dao gave birth to heaven and earth;
the Dao alone is supreme.
The most revered, the most precious --
the unsurpassed Dharma gate.

Continuing the past, opening the future --
it turns through all the ages.
The Dao meets the end of days --
the final kalpa's three springs.

The worthy and the good arrive together;
the original children assemble.
Together rise to the realm of principle;
together return through the gate of the Buddha.

Your Mother awaits the brush.
Mediums, still your hearts.

Since antiquity the Great Dao has been truly hard to hear.
Those who receive it must hold a heart that cultivates the Way.
Through bodily practice, merit and fruit are proven --
together return to the Immortal Land and the Jade Forest.


Your Mother has left the Golden Palace and come to the Eastern Grove.
Most lamentable -- the children of the Eastern Land have lost their true origin.
Now the Third Epoch has come, and the Heavenly Way descends to all --
across the great earth, it gathers the faithful and sets heaven and earth in order.

To hear the Heavenly Way is to transcend life and death, to cross the bitter sea --
to dwell forever in the realm of Supreme Joy, never again descending to the dust.
The original Buddha-children have been lost in the Eastern Land for sixty thousand years and more;
now in the Third Epoch the Heavenly Way descends to seek you out.

The ninety-six billion children, loaded onto one vessel, shall together become immortal --
never born, never dying, dwelling forever in Supreme Joy.
This Third Epoch cannot be compared to the ages that came before;
without the Dao, you shall never return to the Jade Forest.

This Heavenly Way, answering the end of days, brings its work to perfection --
the Dharma vessel will not wait for those who fall behind.
The resolute should repent early and harbor good intentions,
for your Mother will not disappoint the worthy and the true.

Now in this age, Heaven sends down the Dao to test and select the worthy.
The resolute who hear the Dao shall never let it leave their side.
At every moment, hold the thought of the Dao without a trace of sloth;
trace the principle closely, contemplate the mystery, and all will become clear.

The cultivator who does not understand principle cultivates blindly in the dark --
blind cultivation, how can it ever forge a buddha or a god?
The True Heavenly Way possesses true principle within it;
the True Heavenly Principle, without voice or scent, unseen and unheard.

The person of great resolve who receives the Heavenly Way keeps a good heart forever,
working on Heaven's behalf, embodying its virtue, ferrying the original people.
The True Heavenly Way rests entirely with the resolute who proclaim it --
humans proclaim what Heaven does not speak; Heaven borrows the human voice.

The True Heavenly Principle is without voice or scent -- yet is the root of voice and scent.
The True Heavenly Principle is without form or appearance -- yet is the root of form and appearance.
All the ten thousand kinds of beings respond to this one root of true principle;
from this one root they scatter into ten thousand diverse forms, and every person understands.

In the zi hour, heaven was opened; in the chou hour, earth was parted; humans were born in the yin --
counting on my fingers to this day, more than sixty thousand springs.
In the Green Sun Kalpa, Dipankara was appointed to hold the Heavenly Mandate --
in secret he chose two hundred million children and brought them home through the Buddha gate.

In the Red Sun, Shakyamuni held the Heavenly Altar --
he ferried back two hundred million children, also returning to the Eternal Spring.
On the third day of the sixth month, at the Dragon-Flower Assembly, Mother and children meet face to face --
they speak what is in their hearts, they tell their bitter tale, and the bitterness is beyond words.

The Green Sun is spent; the Red Sun is full; the White Sun receives its mandate --
Maitreya, answering Heaven's turning, transforms and gathers heaven and earth.
A new heaven is opened, a new world established, and the wicked are all swept away;
only the good and faithful children remain to enjoy the age of the Dragon Flower.

The final three springs surpass even those of the Green and Red --
every household joyful, every person glad, all of them good and true.
No more wicked ones to disturb the world's affairs --
content with heaven, knowing their fate, happy and singing.

In this hour, cultivate more merit, plant more good fruit --
cultivate now, and in the age to come, both the pure and the worldly shall be yours.
Without true and real goodness, it is hard to move heaven and earth;
without sincerity and right intention, it is hard to reach the sages and spirits.

The cultivator must seek the truth in every affair.
If you do not trace the principle, if you do not contemplate the mystery -- how can you call yourself worthy?
The Heavenly Way is not for the common or the mediocre --
it is for those of great resolve, those who have their share.

To cultivate the Heavenly Way is to follow the Heavenly Principle without betraying your original nature --
seek the true mystery, contemplate the true principle, and become a true person.
With true merit and true goodness, you can prove true fruit.
Even Subhuti proved the ninth rank and advanced to the Lotus Throne.

To receive the Heavenly Way is not easy -- hold it with clenched fists.
Not for one moment let there be retreat, sloth, or weariness of heart.
The greatly worthy hold the True Dao with unshaking hearts;
the foolish hear the Heavenly Way with two minds, three hearts.

They do not understand that the True Heavenly Way descends only in its season;
without karmic affinity, without deep roots, it is hard even to hear.
Since antiquity, the True Heavenly Way has been transmitted one to one --
leaving home, abandoning wife and children, parting from parents.

Entering the deep mountains, hiding in ancient caves, searching everywhere for a True Teacher --
climbing hills, fording cold streams, seeking in every direction.
Wearing through iron-soled shoes with no place found;
never meeting a True Teacher to point out the Valley Spirit.

In this Third Epoch the Dao is transmitted broadly, seeking those with their share --
yet, alas, the people of the world have lost their true origin.
They do not know virtue, they do not know benevolence, they refuse to do good;
a degenerate wind rises, the kalpa-death appears, filling the Eastern Grove.

Heaven sends down the kalpa to subdue the wicked;
Heaven sends down the Dao to choose the worthy for the three springs.
Heaven sends down the Dao so that all under heaven may share in goodness --
the original Buddha-children ascend the shore together, all hearing the Dao.

At this moment the Heavenly Way is hidden, and the testing is done in secret --
the test is for the greatly worthy, those who uphold the Way.

The brush pauses; the mediums rest. After a brief stillness, the altar shall be mounted again to continue the writing.


The Thirteen Laments

The Dao, hidden yet omnipresent, encompasses both substance and function.
It pervades the cosmos and contains all the ten thousand kinds.
In its greatness there is nothing beyond it -- it enfolds heaven and earth.
In its smallness there is nothing within it -- it is rolled up and hidden.

The First Lament -- The Original Children Have Lost Their Way

How lamentable that the original children have lost their way, their hearts in darkness!
They do not turn back, they do not change heart -- wholly consumed by material desire.
They have incurred headless debts, boundless wrongs;
in the Third Epoch all accounts must be settled, every debt repaid in full.

The good are rewarded, the wicked punished -- this never wavers.
The good rise; the wicked fall -- not by the breadth of a single hair.
Think back to the beginning, when primal chaos first divided into heaven and earth:
the Eastern Land was truly desolate -- without a wisp of human smoke.

At the Slopes of the Three Mountains, I brought forth my children and gave them wine of blood to drink,
and my arhats and bodhisattvas, the virtuous and the worthy, were caught in its delusion.
When they woke from the wine and searched for the Imperial Mother, they could not find her face --
and your Mother, from within the clouds, spoke words of blood:

"My bodhisattvas and arhats -- Mother's children!
Your cloud-shoes and cloud-crowns Mother carries back to the Jade Heaven.
Wait until the Assembly of the Third Epoch, when I see your faces again,
and I will return your cloud-crowns and cloud-shoes.

I charge you to set the Eastern Land in order."
And the children had words they wished to speak to their Mother:
"You send us to govern the world of dust -- with what shall we work?
Without clothing in the cold, without food in hunger -- it is truly pitiful!"

And your Mother, from the clouds, spoke her blood-heart words to the last:
"Bodhisattvas and arhats, hear your Mother:
In the Eastern Land, when you hunger, eat cypress seeds.
When you thirst, drink from clear springs, and find what ways you can against the cold.

When the weather is hot, use leaves to cover your bodies.
When the weather is cold, use bark to guard against the chill.
In winter dwell in nests; in summer dwell in caves. How pitiful! How lamentable!
In the Heavenly Palace you never suffered such hardship."

When these blood-heart words were spoken, Mother and children parted.
The bodhisattvas and arhats wept and cried until heaven shook.
They called to their Mother to return, but she could not hear;
the Mother called to her children, but they were separated by the Great Net of Former Heaven.

One by one, terrified, hearts in their throats --
mountain demons and water-beasts, with fangs of terrible grandeur.
The arhats wept until their throats gave way --
then one by one they devised ways to set the mortal world in order.

Suiren drilled the forest-wood and drew out true fire,
and they knew cooked food and boiled water, and learned taste and freshness.
Youchao built houses, and bodies had shelter --
no more dwelling in nests and caves; now they could ward off the cold.

Xuanyuan brought forth boats, carriages, clothing, and crowns --
covering their bodies, shielding their forms, freeing their shoulders from burdens.
Shennong tasted the hundred herbs and first understood the properties of medicine.
Cangjie created writing to replace the knotted cords.

Day by day, new civilization, advancing ever further --
by now it has surpassed ten thousand upon ten thousand.
Yet some ignorant ones destroy the world of dust:
they speak of neither principle nor righteousness, and pay no reverence to earth or heaven.

They have brewed the Eighty-One Kalpas and the Three Disasters and Eight Hardships --
the dust-world is swept clean of the wicked and the depraved.
In the Third Epoch, the Dao and the kalpa descend together, dividing good from evil:
good and evil must part ways; jade and stone are separated.

The worthy who receive the Heavenly Way and cultivate great fruit --
the wicked, their sins full, are fixed in the bitter abyss.
Heaven saves the good and does not save the wicked; it removes evil and preserves the good.
With the Heavenly Way, the weak become strong, and the foolish become wise.

If only you hold great resolve and fix your purpose firmly,
no demon can destroy you, no trial make you retreat -- you are planted deep in steady ground.
With a firm heart and an enduring will, no labor can exhaust you;
your nature is constant, it never changes; your heart never wearies.

Embrace your soaring aspiration, your heaven-piercing vow --
cultivate patience, the ability to bend and stretch. This is what makes a sage, what makes a worthy.

A brief rest -- still the hearts and I shall continue my instruction. Stop the brush; rest the jade balance for a moment.

In pure principle, without action, reaching the utmost emptiness --
participating in creation, responding with feeling and understanding.
The lost children hear the True Dao --
one step and they leap free of the bitter prison.

The Third Lament -- The Original Buddha-Children in Foolish Confusion

The Third Lament: the original Buddha-children are in foolish confusion --
they know nothing of benevolence or righteousness, nothing of propriety or wisdom.
They do not understand why Heaven sends down the kalpa;
how can they not know that their own deeds violate propriety?

A person living in the world receives the nature of yin and yang, the five phases;
what sets humans apart from beasts is propriety -- without it, one cannot walk as a human.
True Heavenly nature is unstained by dust, utterly pure, utterly still;
but in the post-heaven world, material desire veils it, and the original nature grows dim.

The nature endowed by Heaven is utterly numinous, faint as water;
it rises with the wind, falls with the wind, shifting with each occasion.
The most fearful thing about human nature is the tyranny of the discriminating mind;
when the discriminating mind arises, the primal spirit fails, and the original nature cannot shine.

The original Buddha-children have been lost in the Eastern Land for sixty thousand years and more;
now, encountering the descent of the Heavenly Way, it is through past-life roots.
Without cause in former lives, it is hard to receive the fruit of this life;
cultivation in the past yields what is received today -- the Great Dao, mysterious and bright.

Otherwise, it would be hard to hear the Great Dao's true wonder.
Those with affinity come from a thousand miles; by chance, like duckweed, they meet.
Those without affinity -- no matter how your lips crack -- repay kindness with ingratitude,
spreading slander and destroying speech, mouths full of wicked sound.

But our hearts hold the resolve to save the world, with faces of bronze and iron.
Working on the Mother's behalf to ferry back her original children -- the roots are not shallow.
The cultivator must first correct past wrongs --
correct the old faults, commit them no more, and only then is one truly wise.

Those with faults should not fear correction; those without should be doubly diligent.
Embrace the Dao, press forward with fierce courage, and practice with your whole body.
Those with affinity who receive the Great Dao should never let it go;
establish Buddha halls, ferry original children, build virtue and merit.

For eighteen thousand years the precious incense burns -- all of it in this hour.
If you do not cultivate now, this blessed meeting shall be hard to find again.
Spread your merit far, ferry the ninety-six billion Buddha-children,
return to Former Heaven, bow at the Golden Palace, and dwell together in Penglai.

Without affinity, it is hard to ascend to the Immortal Realm of Supreme Joy;
those who believe neither in the Buddha nor in the Dao -- when the time comes, they will understand.
Heaven and earth are vast, the human body small -- yet the small can surpass the great;
this is only possible through cultivating the Great Dao -- no one else can do it.

To cultivate the Heavenly Way is to cultivate the pure and natural Heavenly Principle;
the pure and natural principle is simply the conscience arising.
At this time, Heaven manifests signs and wonders to startle the deluded awake;
if you are willing to turn your hearts and board the shore of the Dao, that is already wisdom.

At this moment, the Dao has not yet been revealed in full --
cultivators and worthy children, bear it with patience.
Those who can endure labor, bear hardship, expand and contract --
a hero's resolve is not like that of small and narrow people.

A hero's resolve can reach beyond a thousand leagues;
the petty are cramped and narrow -- they cannot walk a single pace.
The greatly worthy carry out the great affairs of the Three Heavens;
to carry out Heaven's affairs is not like the sentiments of common people.

Those born in auspicious times, with Heaven's protection, will surely attain great resolve.
Meeting the blessed hour, encountering the good season -- one step and you ascend.
The noble one, when the time has not yet come, can endure and wait;
poor yet joyful, rich yet proper -- the worthy ways of old.

At this hour the human heart has fallen, the supreme Way decays further and further;
when the bonds of society are destroyed and righteousness lost, a degenerate wind is stirred.
The death-mist fills the three thousand worlds --
and so the Three-Eight Disasters are brewed from this.

The Three-Eight Disasters fill the dust-world, sweeping away the wicked.
Heaven sends down the Dao to rescue those of great resolve and benevolence.
Dao and kalpa descend together, dividing evil from good --
it is only that Heaven is generous with life and does not disappoint the worthy.

The resolute may all hear the Great Dao's true wonder.
Hear the Dao at dawn and you may die at dusk -- if only the spirit is true.
Meet a True Teacher and know your root; guard the root and seek the branch.
Cultivate both inner and outer, accomplish both the worldly and the holy, and the great merit is complete.

The True Heavenly Way is lively in meaning, responding to each occasion;
there is no fixed rule -- guard the true principle and use the center.
Do not lean, do not stray, and that is already right;
where there is rightness, there can be no sloth or negligence.

Warmth and goodness, reverence and frugality, yielding -- these a person should uphold.
To cultivate the Great Dao and guard the true principle is the highest wisdom.
The clever and wide, the greatly wise -- study the wondrous principle deeply.
What you desire for yourself, achieve for others, and each person shall understand.

The resolute should speak often with the foolish, discuss and debate;
help one another, assist each other, and carry out the work together.
The cultivator must never harbor selfish thoughts or selfish intent --
for a selfish heart, Heaven will punish without mercy.

When each person follows and each person guards, it accords with the Heavenly Way.
Mediums, eat and rest, then mount the altar once more.

A cold wind penetrates the bone and startles the deluded.
The Heavenly Way, transmitted broadly -- a marvel since ancient times.
The Eighty-One Kalpa sweeps away all the wicked;
the ninety-six billion original children return to Wuji.

The Fourth Lament -- Those with the Dao Whose Nature Remains Lost

How lamentable, the fourth: those who have received the Dao, yet whose nature remains lost --
who speak of neither propriety nor the Way, indulging in empty vanity!
On what shall your future merit and fruit be proven?
Without true and real goodness, it is hard to return to the Jade Splendor.

Already we have reached the junction of the wu and wei hours, when the Red and White exchange.
Soon the Dao will be revealed and transmitted to the west.
When the golden rooster crows, the Great Dao will shine across all heaven and earth;
those with affinity, the worthy, will receive the Dao and return to the One.

The True Heavenly Way is not like the false gates and outer paths --
an unobstructed road of light, with no rugged ground.
If only your heart is right, without leaning or bias,
I assure you: meet danger and find fortune, meet catastrophe and find blessing.

The True Heavenly Way is without voice or scent -- the pure and natural true principle.
The true and constant principle never changes -- it is hard to express, hard to convey.
To speak of the Dao's wonder is inexhaustible;
the great cosmos, mapped by the Luo Shu, is like a game of wei-qi.

The River Diagram appears, the Luo Writing emerges, and the Three Changes are revealed.
Understand the Former Heaven Change, and its principle is rooted in Wuji.
The One pervades through the Taiji Change; Wuji is its substance.
One gives birth to two, two to nine, two nines return to one.

This is the number of Former Heaven -- the true and certain principle.
All affairs, all things -- none depart from this one.
The principle of Former Heaven, though formless, gives birth to the ten thousand things.
The formless is the existent; the existent is the formless -- all ultimately returns to one.

The great cosmos, though it has form, arises from the formless.
The formed, the apparent -- their principle is rooted in Wuji.
The principle of Wuji is fundamentally unmoving -- the place of utmost goodness.
All human affairs, all natural principles -- none go beyond this one.

This is to exhaust human effort and accord with Heaven's Way --
to cross the bitter sea, board the Dharma vessel, and ascend the ladder to Heaven.
Were it not this hour, the True Heavenly Way could not have descended;
the Dao descends answering the kalpa's turning, responding to the Three Epochs.

In the age of the Third Epoch, the gathering of souls is the final work.
The fortunate shall return to the root together and ascend to Wuji.
Worthy children, seize this hour and strive with all your might!
Ten thousand upon ten thousand, do not squander this blessed time!

If you do not cultivate now, you will regret it when the time comes --
though you repent then, it will be too late; better to take your stand now.
Establish more merit, more virtue, and cultivate the body of blessings early;
when the time arrives, there will be no need to strive -- everything shall be prepared.

The honor of heaven and the rank of humanity, both bestowed together -- rarely seen through the ages.
Within, become a sage; without, become a king -- the holy foundation of the Great Dao.
When the Great Dao shines and spreads across the three thousand worlds --
the mountains and rivers restored, the bonds renewed, a new order established.

The blessings of the future are built in this hour -- plant great goodness widely;
work on Heaven's behalf, transmit the true and subtle principle, transforming the deluded.
Whether under the stars or the dew, north and south, opening and expanding,
walking through wind and dust, braving cold and heat, east and west --

ten thousand labors, ten thousand pains, without a trace of weariness:
for the Imperial Mother, never disappointing those of great resolve.
Cultivate more merit, more fruit -- a child of great filial piety;
know the Mother's heart, understand her will -- you surely have deep roots.

Those who do not understand principle and cultivate blindly waste their effort;
the Dao cannot be attained, the principle cannot be grasped -- forever and forever lost.
To cultivate the Great Dao, correct your faults -- you must look to yourself;
to pray to the immortals and buddhas for protection -- that is delusion.

Look up without shame, look down without guilt -- the heart holds fairness.
What a person does, the multitude may judge -- not a speck of selfishness.
This is what makes us, in our Way, the rarest of worthy children.
If there is bias or selfishness, one is not truly worthy.

Guard the Mean, carry out great affairs -- have a beginning and an end.
To start then suddenly stop, half-believing, half-doubting --
to carry out the work of Heaven you must plant your feet on solid ground.
No hollow heart, no false intention -- hold the center, be precise and one.

At every moment, do not depart from the center; forever guard the true principle.
Seek the real in all affairs; stay the course -- not a hair's breadth astray.
A noble heart, a hero's bearing -- all rests on fairness.
Not deceiving Heaven, not concealing from the earth -- utmost fairness, no self.

The True Heavenly Way makes all under heaven right in their intention;
when every person is right and every person clear, the state is governed and the family ordered.
The True Heavenly Way is utterly fair, without a trace of selfishness;
Heaven toward humanity, without bias -- hold the right and never sway.

To cultivate the Heavenly Way: difficult, it is truly difficult; easy, it is truly easy.
Difficult for the foolish, easy for the wise -- there is nothing remarkable in it.
If only you press forward with fierce courage and make a diligent effort,
asking neither heaven nor earth -- you shall break through your own delusion.

The spirit reaches its clarity, responding and understanding, keeping pace with every turn;
what responds then changes, what changes then transforms, and the ten thousand principles are all aligned.

Follow the Dao and act by principle. Guard the right. Stop the brush. The mediums rest.

Withered leaves drift down to blue autumn;
travelers on the road suffer without cease.
The kalpa's thunder startles the dreamer from his southern sleep;
the lost ones seek the Dao.

The Fifth Lament -- Evil Deeds Unceasing

The Fifth Lament: only this -- evil deeds do not cease,
and the turmoil keeps the original children from turning their heads.

Establish merit early, establish goodness early -- prepare your fruit in time,
and wait together for the Great Dao to shine forth, companions among the immortals.
To receive the True Dao, you must cultivate with a true heart;
if the intention is not sincere and the heart not right, the Great Dao cannot be cultivated.

The True Heavenly Way is nothing like the outer paths --
in stillness, ferry yourself; in movement, ferry others -- always pressing forward.
Embrace a soaring aspiration, know the gate, and set your hand to work;
until every original child is ferried home, never rest.

The Heavenly Way descends, answering the Third Epoch -- the true mechanism is revealed;
the resolute, the greatly worthy, must all come forward.
Those of resolve who take their stand in this hour -- their names shine forever,
imperishable through the ages, radiant across a thousand autumns.

Do not say that cultivating the Way brings no reward:
when Heaven's time arrives, you shall lift your brow in boundless joy.
In this hour, guard the Heavenly Way; hold patience in your heart.
One transforms ten, ten transform a hundred -- each one turns back.

See how, at this time, people are hard to ferry -- the blessed connection has not yet come.
When the Great Dao shines forth, one call will bring a hundred answers.
At this time we only open and proclaim the meaning of the Way --
when every person knows the Heavenly Principle, it shall never cease.

The True Heavenly Way pervades the cosmos -- there is no second law.
One sun in Heaven, one sovereign among the people -- there is no second head.
The True Heavenly Way, on Heaven's pardon, gathers all religions in peace;
ten thousand side-gates all return to the one body, ascending together to the Immortal Tower.

The True Heavenly Way has been hidden and manifest since antiquity --
sometimes hidden, sometimes manifest -- and people can hardly know why.
Exhaust human effort, heed Heaven's mandate, embrace the Dao and press forward;
guard the True Way with a single heart, and there shall be no sorrow.

Were it not the Third Epoch, the True Heavenly Way could not be revealed;
the Dao descends, answering the kalpa's turning, to redeem and transform the worthy.
When the Great Dao shines across three thousand worlds, all worthy children shall be ferried home;
the greatly worthy shall ascend the shore together and bring the three autumn harvests to completion.

Those in the final age who meet the True Dao -- virtue high, blessings deep --
who cultivate their merit and prove their fruit, shall advance in rank and station.
The blessings of the pure and the worldly, both conferred -- inexhaustible!
Without merit, without fruit, this passage is hard to gain.

If not in this hour, strive quickly -- set your hand to work at once!
Half mortal, half sage -- carrying out the Heavenly Way, stealing stillness from the midst of busyness.
The True Heavenly Way has no intention to compel;
act as you will, work as you will, plan as you will.

It does not ask you to cultivate the Way and abandon your posterity --
wife and husband as companions, children at your side, the whole family cultivating together.
The True Heavenly Way is lively and free, without constraint --
so long as you advance by principle, you are a worthy companion.

My Heavenly Way speaks only of utmost fairness, utmost righteousness;
not half a speck of selfishness -- pure principle, pure reason.
To cultivate the True Way, you cannot approach with hollow heart or false intent;
practice true goodness with a true heart, and truly cultivate the Dao.

The True Heavenly Principle is purely still, undefiled, unsoiled --
unseen, unheard, without voice or scent -- its root is hard to glimpse.
You must labor diligently before you can see through it;
without contemplation, without inquiry, how can you seek the Dao?

Exhaust your heart, know your nature -- then you know the Heavenly Principle.
Know the Heavenly Principle, participate in creation -- then you know the deepest reason.
To cultivate the Heavenly Way without guarding the root makes it impossible to begin;
when the root is disordered and only the branches are tended -- that is to abandon what is near and seek what is far.

Cultivating the Heavenly Way is supremely easy -- the only fear is lacking resolve.
Keep a constant heart, guard a firm purpose, and the fruit naturally follows.
Seeing wealth without a stirring heart, dying in poverty without excess --
the noble one's resolve delights in Heaven's mandate, without worry, without sorrow.

Thinking left, thinking right -- the heart wavers, the will shakes.
If you cannot hold your great aspiration, how can the Dao be cultivated?
In cultivating the Great Dao, the resolute will surely succeed.
The only fear: a heart that is unsettled, a mind in disarray.

Now believing, now doubting; now walking, now stopping --
hold your resolve firm, without interruption -- never hesitate!
In every deed, every action, think thrice before proceeding;
be cautious in conduct, prudent in speech -- do not muddle and blunder.

The cultivator's nature is utmost loyalty, utmost sincerity;
to harbor cunning, to collude in deceit -- that is to darken one's own heart.
To deceive another is to deceive yourself, turning back upon yourself again;
the affairs of the world follow the principle of cycles -- what goes around comes around.

Overcome yourself and restore propriety toward others -- without a trace of display;
what you do not desire for yourself, do not impose on others.
Guard the Heavenly Way, follow the right principle -- cultivate without error;
if you only guard the right path, nothing will be left undone.

On Heaven's behalf, practice great virtue, spreading the teaching everywhere;
those with affinity shall board the shore of the Dao and together bring the gathering to completion.
The time of the great gathering draws near -- it is about to appear before your eyes;
when the heavenly drum resounds and the order is given, all shall assemble in the Central Land.

Merit earns merit; fruit earns fruit -- not a thread is lost.
By rank and degree, lotus thrones are conferred; eternal companions among the immortals.
When that time comes, those without merit or fruit will only then know regret;
far better to strive in this hour and earn the reward.

Heaven conceals not half a hair of merit -- it illuminates everywhere;
utmost fairness, utmost righteousness -- let your will roam free.
Cultivate the Heavenly Way, guard the Heavenly Principle -- and be greatly worthy, greatly sage.

The brush pauses; the mediums rest. A brief stillness, then the altar opens again.

The most revered, the most precious -- it is the Heavenly Way alone.
Nourish the Valley Spirit, and the nature rests in heaven.
One luminous point aspires to sagehood and worthiness --
that is the immortal of eternal life and great awakening.

The Sixth Lament -- Cultivators Bound by Fame and Profit

The Sixth Lament: cultivators bound by fame and profit --
day after day, practicing no virtue, establishing no merit.

Before their eyes, Heaven's hour arrives and the Great Dao is about to shine;
those without merit, those without fruit -- their hearts quake and their courage fails.
To return to Spirit Mountain empty-handed -- how can you face the Mother?
Without merit, without fruit -- how can you prove your place on the Lotus?

Do not squander this blessed hour -- regret comes too late when the time arrives.
Better in this very hour to set your heart, free from all reluctance.
Press forward with fierce courage, ten thousand labors without weariness;
emulate the great talents who weave earth and measure heaven.

A hero's resolve can bend and stretch, can endure and bear --
patience in the heart, perseverance preserved, cultivating the field of the mind.
Your Mother will never disappoint the truly worthy and greatly good;
the blessings of the pure and the worldly, the rank of heaven and humanity -- joy in the holy, joy in the mortal.

This blessed hour is truly rare to meet -- yet now it reaches everywhere.
By all means, do not squander this fine season, this good connection.
Hour by hour, redouble your effort, press forward with fierce courage;
fear no demon, dread no trial -- let your heart hold no doubt.

Labor diligently, add fierce courage, strive and press forward;
with a few years' hardship you can cultivate the field of eighteen thousand blessings.
Above, you deliver the nine generations of ancestors to gather together in the Realm of Principle;
below, you shade and shelter your descendants -- abundance behind and glory before.

If you do not cultivate now, when the time comes your regret will be too late;
at the moment of death, hollow repentance is utterly in vain.
Far better to establish early a heaven-piercing vow --
and leave a beautiful name that shall be told for ten thousand ages.

Embody the virtue of Heaven, walk the Great Dao, great virtue joined with goodness;
ferry the wicked until they become good; transform the foolish into the wise.
At this hour, it is only that the Great Dao has not yet appeared;
endure in your heart, bear the vexation, and strive forward.

Guard the principle of the center, follow the right path, and work with what is before your eyes;
hold both ends, use the center -- not leaning, not biased.
To carry out the Heavenly Way, you must have a beginning and an end;
you cannot stop midway and be left with only half.

Embrace the true purpose with never a second thought;
if they call me foolish, then foolish I am -- simple and unconcerned.
No matter what words are spoken, if the true word is on your lips,
all demons retreat, ten thousand evils are stilled -- none dare come forward.

The True Heavenly Way, without form or image, removes evil and protects the good;
Heaven delights in goodness, not in wickedness -- this is certain.
The good, from ancient times, have had faces of loyalty and sincerity;
conduct upright, bonds honored deep -- their generations' grace flows on and on.

Such people, in their ordinary days, hold goodness in their hearts;
without malice, without greed -- they seize neither profit nor power.
They simply hold the center -- when in authority, it is hard to be good --
but they can love broadly, give to the people, care for the old, and pity the poor.

The good hold compassion -- the conscience shines forever.
The heart of compassion is benevolence itself -- the original root.
But in the post-heaven world, material desire clouds and surrounds them;
the original nature is veiled and hidden -- hard to return to the Former Heaven.

The Former Heaven nature is fundamentally pure, still, without thought;
but stained by turbid energy and filth, the source is hard to see.
Pure and turbid energies daily disturb and confuse -- impossible to separate;
with a constant heart, swiftly establish resolve and seek the true mystery.

Encounter a True Teacher, hear the Heavenly Way -- one luminous point of clarity!
One pointing -- half sage, half mortal -- aspiring to the sage, aspiring to the worthy.
Without deep roots from former lives, it is hard to encounter the Heavenly Way's revelation;
to meet the blessed season, to encounter the good hour -- all of this has former cause.

Having received the Heavenly Way, you should guard it with clenched fists --
never let it go, never treat it as idle leisure.
To carry out the Heavenly Way, you must see it through to completion;
to begin with diligence and end in sloth is to leave the field of the heart unfinished.

Cultivating the Heavenly Way rests only in these two or three years --
there is no eternal opportunity stretching through eighteen thousand more.
The resolute should board early -- at the end it will be too late.
Do not wait for the heavenly drum to sound and the Dharma vessel to depart.

When that time comes, if you wish to board, your regret will be too late;
miss the blessed season, and good fortune is hard to meet again.
To cultivate the Heavenly Way, now advancing, now breaking off --
such people are not those of great resolve and worthy character.

Those of great resolve carry out great affairs with beginning and end intact;
none of that momentary enthusiasm followed by vexation.
Carrying out the Heavenly Way -- how can it be done at one's own convenience?
Obey Heaven's mandate, guard Heaven's principle, and strive forward.

Only with great resolve can one be called greatly worthy, greatly sage;
a narrow and petty measure cannot accomplish the Great Assembly of the Three Sources.
Carrying out the affairs of Heaven is no small matter -- how could the common accomplish it?
How can ordinary people align their nature with Former Heaven?

As children of humanity, conducting human affairs -- you cannot neglect goodness.
To do evil, to profit only yourself, caring nothing for others' suffering --
devising clever schemes to benefit yourself, heedless of others' resentment --
greed without limit, wickedness overflowing -- you shall meet Heaven's punishment.

Can the wicked ever attain a good outcome?
In the end, it is always the virtuous who move the Imperial Heaven.
Those who harbor evil thoughts day after day, without a shred of goodness --
when the great kalpa descends upon your head, you shall tremble and quake.

Trembling, your life in peril, the conscience suddenly appears --
thinking back on past deeds, you find you have offended against Heaven.
On that day, suffering that calamity, you repent in bitterness of heart --
pleading with the Imperial Heaven to spare your life, swearing to reform the field of the heart.

No matter how eloquent your words, they are utterly useless;
far better to cultivate virtue early and plant the field of blessings.
In this hour, the pure and the turbid are mingled -- good and evil are hard to judge;
when the kalpa comes, there is no need to judge -- jade and stone sort themselves into their ranks.

In this hour, guard the Heavenly Way; hold patience, endure;
simply wait for the Great Dao to appear, and the field of the heart shall open of itself.
Once more a word of earnest counsel to the good and worthy.

The mediums rest; the golden brush pauses. After a brief stillness, the altar opens again.

The sun sinks behind Kunlun, dark and lightless;
clouds hide the half-moon, all is vast and dim.
The night rain shatters the dream of Nanke;
the autumn wind howls and startles the dreamer from his golden millet sleep.

The Seventh Lament -- The Buddha-Children Fallen to the Dusty Realm

The Seventh Lament: the Buddha-children have fallen to the dusty realm --
having received the Heavenly Way, why do they not return to the courts of their homeland?

Now the Third Epoch has come, and the great examination hall is opened wide;
across the great earth, the worthy are sought, the excellent are chosen.
For the purpose of carrying out the great affairs of the Three Heavens --
completing the gathering, upholding the holy foundation, the final act.

This is a blessed season such as antiquity rarely encountered;
those of resolve, do not squander it -- be diligent upon diligent.
Rushing east and west, running north and south, seeking the worthy --
finding those with affinity, visiting those with their share, to help the Dao altar.

When the ninety-six billion children are ferried, all ascend as one body;
the Dragon-Flower Assembly has long been prepared -- jade delicacies and crystal wine.
Awaiting only the original children to arrive, their names hung on the Heavenly Roll;
the Three Realms rejoice, the Realm of Principle celebrates the champion sons and daughters.

Mother and children shall gather together on the sea of Penglai;
after sixty thousand years of separation, they shall pour out the bitterness of their hearts.
In the mortal dust, suffering torments beyond enduring --
only in the Third Epoch, receiving the Heavenly Way, do you at last come before the Mother.

Without encountering the True Heavenly Way, return is impossible;
fallen into the dusty world for ten thousand times ten thousand years -- how hard to go home.
In the Third Epoch, your Mother seeks her children to bring them back;
lost and bewildered children -- upon hearing the Heavenly Way, swiftly pack your traveling things.

Wait only for Heaven's hour to arrive -- all shall return as one body.
Master and disciple, hand in hand, shall journey back to the Holy Land.
Without encountering the Third Epoch, when the Heavenly Way descends --
the lost children of the homeland can never go home.

Now, having encountered the True Heavenly Way, embrace it tightly and do not let go --
only then are you a filial child, greatly worthy, greatly good.
Otherwise, having received the Heavenly Way yet taking no notice --
practicing no merit, establishing no virtue -- you squander the good light.

To come empty-handed and return empty-handed -- is that a filial child?
As children, understand the Mother's will and know the Mother's heart.
In this hour, the Heavenly Way is hidden -- you cannot be dissolute.
Be cautious in conduct, prudent in speech -- never arrogant or reckless.

To carry out the Heavenly Way with patience is true great goodness;
to be unable to endure, unable to bear -- that is arrogance.
Endurance and patience -- hold them forever in your heart, never forgetting.
Worthy, filial children -- do not squander the Mother's heart.

In the mortal dust, bear the hardship of cultivating the Way for these few years;
in the Former Heaven, the Nine Grades of Lotus Land are long since prepared.
Enjoy the pure and worldly blessings, eternal joy without end;
shade your descendants in their study -- inwardly sage, outwardly king.

Do you not know that the True Heavenly Way's righteous energy is vast and boundless?
The great and upright nature-body is supremely great, supremely firm.
The True Heavenly Way is not of the same kind as heretical sects;
the True Heavenly Principle, without voice or scent, gathers back the ten thousand side-gates.

The ten thousand religions have all appeared, each leading according to its own mandate;
to walk the crooked path and ferry the crooked -- that is to stray into a narrow alley.
In the Third Epoch, a golden thread is lowered, fishing for the worthy in secret;
those of resolve should board early and return early to the homeland.

Those without affinity, fallen into the bitter sea of the dusty world --
for eighteen thousand years they cannot turn back, hidden forever in the Mountain of Shadow.
All because of greed without limit, refusing to turn their heads --
so that now they are left with no ground to stand on.

Thinking back on past deeds -- they cannot accord with true principle;
deceiving the Imperial Heaven, destroying the Heavenly Principle, losing their heavenly conscience.
Now, fallen into the Mountain of Shadow, their hearts turn back --
but at death's door, their regret is born too late; the heart's anguish is all in vain.

Seize this time! Repent at once, with never a second thought;
cut off all former wrongs with one stroke of the blade -- reform the heart completely.
Only with great resolve can one become greatly worthy, greatly sage;
without resolve, how can one become greatly loyal, greatly good?

Carry out the Heavenly Way with a heart that never grows slack;
hour by hour, redouble your effort -- press forward to the front.
The Imperial Mother will never disappoint the resolute and worthy --
the greatly good, the greatly wise: their understanding of the principle is thorough and clear.

In their conduct in the world, in their handling of affairs -- nothing that is not harmonious;
whether mortal matters or holy matters, all accord with the golden center.
The principle of the Mean, the Way of the Great Learning -- every person should study them;
contemplate carefully, trace carefully, and understand thoroughly.

Rejoice to hear of your faults; be humbled to hear of your merits. When there are faults, correct them at once;
when there is merit, hold it; when there are faults, reform them -- and the heart shall be joyful.
The noble one guards the True Way, not leaning, not biased;
rectify the heart and never retreat -- seek the true and constant.

When you see through the wonder of Former Heaven -- supremely great, supremely vast --
substance and function, the manifest and the hidden, inner and outer -- all are thoroughly understood.
To cultivate the Heavenly Way, first you must understand the true principle;
without understanding, cultivating blindly -- how can you become worthy?

The foolish are enlightened; the wise are brought to understanding; the wicked are counseled toward goodness.
Over time, with practice, skill advances -- the dappled horse becomes pure gold.
Keep company with the wicked and you learn nothing but cunning and treachery;
dwell with the good, and even the wicked must become good.

A good heart begets a good heart; wickedness begets wickedness.
This is the principle of cycles -- every person understands it well.
The principle of heaven and earth, the principle of all things -- all must be understood clearly.
Exhaust the principle, fathom the nature, and investigate with a careful heart.

Seek diligently, contemplate carefully -- you shall see through it all.
The great dissolves into the small; the small dissolves into nothing -- when difficulty comes, fortune appears.

A complete word of truth -- the brush ceases, the mediums rest. After a brief stillness, the altar shall open again for the wondrous chapter.

Utterly precise, utterly subtle, utterly wondrous and mysterious;
without voice, without scent, effortless and natural.
Calling the faithful to ascend the path of awakening --
seeking immortal companions, finding the Peach Garden.

The Eighth Lament -- The Original Children Lost in the Mortal World

The Eighth Lament: the original children, lost in the mortal world --
since the scattering, sixty thousand years and more, never returning home.

Now in the Third Epoch the true mechanism appears, the Great Dao shines in grandeur;
redeeming the original Buddha-children, together proving their place on the Lotus.
The Dragon-Flower Assembly of the Third Epoch was long since prepared;
across the great earth, the worthy are chosen -- their names hung on the Heavenly Roll.

Soon the Dao shall shine in grandeur across three thousand worlds;
the original children shall ascend the shore together and hear the true mystery.
The ancient sages and worthies often reflected and sighed -- the mystery was hard to attain.
The Great Dao is wondrous, supremely honored -- the unsurpassed wonder.

Without reaching this Third Epoch Assembly, the Great Dao is hard to encounter;
without reaching the appointed hour, even arduous searching cannot find it.
Now, answering Heaven's hour, the Great Dao descends to all;
those with affinity, those with their share -- all shall hear the true mystery.

To receive the Dao now is no trivial matter;
having received the True Dao, guard it carefully and strive to trace its source.
Contemplate the principle, understand the origin -- the reason for the Dao's being.
To receive the Heavenly Way without understanding the principle -- how is that different from foolishness?

When you see through the True Heavenly Principle, the great work is perfected;
the three thousand worlds, like a capital in the palm of your hand, contain the great cosmos.
In this hour, cultivate the Heavenly Way with patience, pressing forward;
when the Great Dao shines across three thousand worlds, its majesty shall be manifest.

Cultivators -- do not say there is no reward!
How could you know that when the blessed season arrives, you shall part the clouds and see heaven?
People in the world regard this matter as false --
what they cannot see, what they cannot hear -- what evidence, they say, is there?

Those who do not know the principle, the ignorant -- you can only counsel them with kindness;
with earnest words and good speech, again and again and again.
If cultivators behave like this, how can they establish great resolve?
The resolute are nothing like these stubborn fools.

In post-heaven matters, if you cling to appearances, there is still something to hope for;
but the principle of Former Heaven is without form -- you must recognize it as it naturally is.
The True Heavenly Principle is purely still, without voice, without scent --
it is nothing like the heretical sects who point to the earth and part the heavens.

Summoning wind and rain, turning beans into soldiers -- the wicked arts are clever and cunning!
The ignorant see such spectacles and cry: "Truly this is extraordinary!"
In the Third Epoch, the ten thousand religions have all appeared, each manifest;
whoever hears the True Heavenly Way -- that person has their share.

The True Heavenly Way is not easily gained -- it requires accumulated goodness from former lives.
Without former cause, it is hard even to hear of the Great Dao's Former Heaven.
In this hour, cultivators must redouble their efforts at once;
miss this time, and no blessed season shall appear before your eyes again.

Seize this hour! Strive quickly, redouble your labors;
with eyes half-closed, advance through the mist -- press forward with fierce courage.
At every moment, hold the thought of the Dao without a trace of sloth;
not a single moment without pressing forward -- reach and transform the field of the heart.

To receive the True Dao is not easy -- great goodness must precede it.
Without deep roots, it is hard to encounter the Great Dao's true mystery.
When one child cultivates, nine generations of ancestors are delivered and uplifted;
the nine generations of ancestors dwell in Supreme Joy, forever in the Garden of Bliss.

For your descendants, practice filial piety -- honor the end, pursue the remote;
teach your descendants through virtue, transforming them into the worthy.
A household of loyalty and sincerity produces filial children, dwelling in goodness at home;
below, shading and sheltering your descendants' glory for eighteen thousand years.

Without cultivating the Way, this wondrous vision cannot be attained;
embrace the Dao, advance with fierce courage, and only then shall all be complete.
In this hour, the Dao has not yet appeared, and good and evil are hard to judge;
simply wait for Heaven's hour to arrive -- then all shall naturally be clear.

No leaning, no bias -- broadly accord with the word "center."
No selfish thought, no treacherous heart -- the field of the heart is utterly fair.
In this hour, people do not understand the wondrous principle within the Dao;
they do not know why it descends broadly in the final age.

It is only because the hearts of the world's people are full of deceit and treachery --
destroying propriety and righteousness, extinguishing the bonds of civilization, with audacity beyond measure.
The Nine-times-Nine Disasters, the Eighty-One Kalpas -- they descend according to the times.
Your Mother fears that the resolute sons and daughters may be harmed.

The Dao descends answering the kalpa, to rescue the good and worthy;
the irresolute who receive this Dao call it heresy.
I hope you will examine carefully, think prudently, and discern clearly --
true and false, empty and real -- distinguish right from wrong completely.

The True Heavenly Way always contains true principle within it;
it gives birth to all things, it nourishes all spirits -- from this the principle is born.
Heaven gives birth to the Dao; the Dao gives birth to Heaven -- distinguish principle from energy.
When you understand principle and energy, you can distinguish Former Heaven from post-heaven.

The affairs of Former Heaven are carried out in the post-heaven -- there is no place it does not reach.
The True Heavenly Way encompasses the three thousand great-thousand worlds.
Your way is merely a small and meager point --
compared to the True Dao, it seems as distant as the far horizon.

My Way, the Heavenly Principle -- the Three Teachings proclaimed as one --
carries forward the Dao Lineage, continuing the thread: the Three Altars of the White Sun.
Maitreya holds the Three Altars, broadly transmitting the Great Dao --
opening the wilderness in the east, proclaiming the Dao in the west, assisting Tianran.

Your Mother long ago appointed the final destiny of the White Sun;
ten thousand immortals in formation, all hastening to the assembly, completing the gathering.

A complete word -- I shall not say more. The brush ceases; the mediums rest. After a brief stillness, the altar opens again for the proclamation.

In the final age of the Third Epoch, the spring of the White Sun;
across the great earth, the Buddha-children arrive together.
The ninety-six billion ascend the shore of Bodhi as one;
each seeking the path of awakening, searching for the Mother.

The Ninth Lament -- Those Without Karmic Connection

The Ninth Lament: most pitiable -- those without karmic connection,
who neither revere Heaven nor honor the earth, who curse and revile the ghosts and spirits.

Before your eyes, the Three-Eight Disasters are no auspicious sign;
look at you who do evil -- will you turn your hearts?
The True Heavenly Way descends to the dust-world, transforming evil into good;
those who can awaken to the True Dao -- the foolish become worthy.

The Great Principle is without voice or scent, its wondrous meaning supremely vast;
the resolute who contemplate with a diligent heart shall naturally know the truth.
Heaven sends down the Dao, answering the Third Epoch, to judge good from evil;
the good rise, the wicked fall -- jade and stone clearly sorted.

Soon the Great Dao shall shine, spreading its teaching everywhere;
the ninety-six billion children shall board the shore of the Dao and return together through the Buddha gate.
To cultivate the True Way and guard the correct principle -- that is great goodness;
with true principle, aligned on the right track -- distinguish the false from the true.

Cultivators who do not understand principle cultivate blindly and practice in the dark --
understanding cannot penetrate, the Dao cannot be achieved, the heart can never become clear.
Guard the Way, seek its wonder, contemplate and realize the nature and the principle;
without tracing, without contemplating -- how can you find the root?

The True Heavenly Principle -- contemplate it with heart, and the deeper you go, the wider it becomes;
the Great Principle's light reaches far, with no clouds to obstruct it.
The Holy Land, the realm of the immortals and buddhas, is never farther than the space of a heart;
vast and dim, rising with the clouds, soaring through the sky.

You must exhaust all selfish desire before the Heavenly Principle appears;
when the Heavenly Principle appears and the original nature is seen -- you transcend the bitter dust.
Cultivating the Heavenly Way is, in truth, not easy;
yet for the resolute, all things are accomplished -- hold a constant heart.

Without contemplating the mystery, without realizing the wonder, it is hard to understand true principle;
contemplate with a diligent heart, realize with a careful heart, strive to trace and seek.
Receiving the Heavenly Way is not easy -- guard it with clenched fists!
One moment's carelessness and you plunge into the bitter sea, never to turn back.

Carrying out the affairs of Heaven -- be ever more cautious, never rash;
trembling as on thin ice -- do not let your heart run wild.
Guard the Heavenly Way without any airs of extravagance;
hold old sincerity, honor the bonds, live generously -- follow the way of the ancients.

Cultivating the Way now is far easier than in the ages of old --
no meditating in silence, no sitting in stillness, no chanting of sutras.
Half mortal, half sage -- lively and free, advancing by principle.
Follow principle, follow the Way, press forward -- and you are truly worthy.

My Heavenly Way rests entirely on true principle and fair discourse,
with true principle pervading the cosmos from antiquity to the present day.
This true principle is neither within nor without --
when used, it appears; when hidden, it vanishes -- at any moment it may be discerned.

Lively and translucent, the luminous manifestation --
radiance flashing through clouds and sunset haze, a dazzling light.
When heavenly truth appears and the cultivated nature unfolds, rising with the wind --
drifting, vast and dim, limitless and wondrously divine.

When extended, it fills the six directions; when rolled up, it is hidden in secrecy.
In greatness, nothing is outside it; in smallness, nothing is within it -- heard and seen, yet hard to perceive.

A passage of mysterious words is written -- the brush rests for a moment. After a brief stillness, the altar opens again.

The Valley Spirit opens, and the primal energy comes to court;
the wondrous key, the treasure -- transcending virtue itself.
The Great Dao shines again across three thousand worlds,
redeeming the ninety-six billion, ascending to the Heavenly Court.

The Tenth Lament -- The Foolish, Their Hearts Stopped Up

The Tenth Lament: the foolish, deluded -- their hearts stopped up,
craving material desire, refusing to turn back, forging the prison of suffering.

Now the end of the Third Epoch has arrived; the Three-Eight Disasters descend upon all --
eternal fire, wind, and war spread across the eastern lands.
Those who have no scrap of goodness in their ordinary days -- when the great kalpa comes, escape is impossible.
Only by receiving the Heavenly Way and walking in the Dao can you find shelter.

The immortals and gods themselves are entirely within the Eighty-One Kalpas;
without cultivating merit, without establishing virtue, return to the Jade Realm is impossible.
The cultivator who receives the Heavenly Way keeps a single heart, never wavering;
with sincere heart, real intention -- cultivate and train, planting the heart deep and firm.

To receive the Heavenly Way is not easy -- your former roots must be deep.
Otherwise, to encounter the Great Dao in its supreme height is impossible.
Having received the Heavenly Way and leapt free of the bitter sea, the land of karmic debt --
turn back and look once more upon the foolish and deluded multitude.

Only then do you realize that the Great Dao is supremely wondrous --
without voice, without scent -- one step and you leap straight beyond.
Even form and image cannot transcend birth and death;
mouth to mouth, heart sealed upon heart -- the true scripture, the ancient aperture.

"Hear the Dao at dawn and you may die at dusk" -- so Zhongni praised the Way.
Duanmu Ci also sighed: the bridge to the mystery is hard to find!
When you attain the true mystery, you may aspire to sagehood, aspire to worthiness;
guard the Way without doubt or deviation, and selfish desire is wholly consumed.

The stain of material desire, accumulated over long years, is slowly stripped away;
from shallow principle, trace deeper meaning -- from the low, ascend to the high.
Cultivating the Heavenly Way -- how can it be like the side-gates and lesser paths?
No chanting of sutras, no shouting and singing, no beating of gongs.

It all rests on overcoming yourself and restoring propriety toward others;
what you desire to establish for yourself, establish for others -- bring the younger learners to completion.
The True Heavenly Way's practice is to perfect others and correct oneself;
one transforms ten, ten transform a hundred -- all become worthy companions.

Heaven has no selfishness -- its principle is utterly fair. Yet human affairs are devious:
strong-arm tactics seize fairness; treacherous hearts hold the reins.
Harming others to benefit oneself, secretly scheming --
the deeds that come of petty and crooked measure are not the work of heroes.

Heroes always have the resolve of the true man --
able to bend and stretch, to endure and bear, to contain and embrace.
Whether the matter is great or small, advance by principle;
where there is principle, advance; where there is not, retreat -- only then are you a worthy companion.

To act without propriety, to move without propriety -- no benevolence, no righteousness;
without benevolence, righteousness, propriety, or wisdom -- the bonds of civilization are cast away.
To be human, born into the world -- your spirit should be vast and great.
A person without resolve is like iron without steel -- what aim can there be?

Hold great resolve, embrace soaring aspiration -- the key is patience.
Not arrogant, not inverted -- the way of propriety is hard to learn otherwise.
Walk in propriety, stand in propriety, guarding the Way at every moment;
at every moment, let the word "Dao" hang firmly in the heart.

The Dao is the principle; the principle is the Dao -- branch connected to vein.
If you guard the Dao, you follow the principle -- one tree, one crown.
In this hour, it is simply a matter of keeping the heart turned toward the Dao;
wait only for Heaven's time to arrive -- three beats of the heavenly drum.

From every quarter, the buddhas and patriarchs shall arrive to deliver their mandates;
merit earns merit, fruit earns fruit -- not half a point is discarded.
The wicked have incurred headless debts of karmic wrong;
when the creditor arrives to collect, not half a point is forgiven.

Life repays life, debt repays debt -- what is owed cannot be escaped.
The slaughter darkens heaven and earth -- not a ray of light can break through.
The slaughter fills the wilderness with blood and bone;
for ten thousand miles there is no household -- all is weeping and wailing.

The dead are dead, the lost are lost -- running east, fleeing west.
Wherever you go, that place is ruins.
Without seeking the True Heavenly Way, even the gods cannot shelter you;
when the karmic debts cannot be settled, your life cannot escape.

This is the suffering of the Eighty-One Kalpas -- every person should know it.
Do not wait until it descends upon your head -- all your anguish will be in vain.
The resolute should turn back early and hear the Heavenly Way --
free from suffering, free from sorrow, happy and carefree.

The brush pauses; the mediums rest. After a brief stillness, a further proclamation.

In the final age of the Third Epoch, the altar is established anew;
the Three Suns open the age of peace, awakening the worthy of the future.
The Dragon-Flower Assembly of the Three Meetings opens the examination for selection;
the Great Assembly of the Three Sources gathers in the Central Plain.

The Eleventh Lament -- Those Who Have the Dao But Do Not Contemplate

The Eleventh Lament: those who have the Dao but do not contemplate, do not examine --
day after day they go to the Buddha hall for muddle-headed discussions and idle talk.

They do not understand what cultivating the True Way is for;
they do not know why the Heavenly Way has descended -- to ferry all and complete the gathering.
It is only because the wicked children have committed great wrongs;
their karmic debts, by the Third Epoch, must be repaid in full.

In this hour, the wicked refuse to turn toward goodness --
they do not correct their faults, they do not change heart: pleasure, gain, and greed.
Each day more deluded, each day deeper -- the more deluded, the further they fall.
Wait only until their wickedness overflows -- Heaven's punishment shall seize them like thunder.

When that time comes -- will not your regret be too late?
Even repenting in your heart is not as good as becoming worthy and good from the start.
Refusing to turn back, refusing to change heart, lingering and forgetting to return --
they know only themselves and do not know there is a Heaven.

Having incurred headless debts -- Heaven will not grant delay.
By Heaven's statutes, guilt is fixed -- the law is stern and precise.
Cultivators who do not follow principle will find their vows impossible to fulfill;
when the great vow remains unfulfilled, return to Spirit Mountain is impossible.

How much worse if you have violated even your heaven-piercing vow --
without awakening, without repenting, for all eternity you cannot finish.
But if you have great and constant resolve, your heart forever turned toward goodness,
you can use former merit to mend present faults -- nothing is impossible.

Only those who are too clever miss it, while the foolish cannot reach it.
They keep saying: "The Dao is lively and wondrously mysterious" --
"When I act, I am lively -- yet I cannot accord with principle."
Without principle, without the center -- that is not worthy, not wise.

Openly doing good, secretly doing evil, pretending that others are stupid --
they do not know that above every mortal head there is the blue heaven.
Acting without propriety, moving without propriety, propriety nowhere in sight --
why bother cultivating the Heavenly Way, only to bring guilt upon yourself?

Wait only for the world to descend into chaos and the Three-Eight Disasters to appear together --
trembling, shuddering, hearts quaking, courage failing.
When Heaven sends calamity, there may yet be escape -- but by then, life is hard to preserve.
Those who know the king's law yet break it -- their guilt is doubled.

When that time comes, life in peril, the conscience suddenly appears;
when a person is about to die, their words become good -- every sentence a good word.
"I should not have received the Heavenly Way and refused to cultivate it!
I should not have deceived my master and ancestors, deceived the Imperial Heaven!"

"I should not have incurred debts to the Buddha, thinking no one would know!
Little did I know -- in the dark, the spirit officials see everything!"
"I should not have slandered my Dao companions, refusing to enter the Dao hall!
Saying the Heavenly Way is false, that it is not true!"

"I slandered them so my companions would join me --
the more I think of it, the more I hate my own heart."
When that time comes, your regret -- is it not too late?
Far better in this very hour to establish more merit.

In your ordinary days, never gossip about others' strengths and weaknesses;
to discuss others' faults in secret is not the way of the worthy.
With great resolve, the deeds you accomplish are not petty or narrow --
the hero's resolve, the noble's bearing -- righteous energy, vast and boundless.

The brush pauses. After another sigh, the mediums rest. After a brief stillness, the altar opens again.

The altar opens, proclaiming the Dao, redeeming the bold and brilliant;
resolute worthies -- board early!
Upholding the Dao, assisting the foundation -- great talents --
together return to the one body, back to Penglai.

The Twelfth Lament -- The Original Buddha-Children, Stubbornly Deluded

The Twelfth Lament: the original Buddha-children, stubbornly deluded --
not knowing that the sun has passed its zenith and turns toward the western wall.

Red and White exchange their mandates -- the Heavenly Altar shifts;
mountains and rivers are set in order, the altars of state are upheld, a new order in the manner of Yao.
Those with their share who hear the True Dao -- embrace it tightly, do not let go!
Cultivate now, prove it when the time comes -- delight in the blessings, pure and worldly.

For eighteen thousand years, shade your descendants -- bestow glory upon them;
leave a beautiful name that echoes through the ages, forever remembered.
This hour is the blessed day for establishing merit;
miss this hour, lose this good chance -- and it shall be hard to meet again.

Cultivate the Heavenly Way, keep your place -- great worthiness, great resolve.
Guard the root, seek the branch -- the Great Dao can be achieved.
Originally, cultivating the Heavenly Way means advancing by principle --
walking by principle, moving by principle, following principle in all you do.

Practice merit broadly, attain the greatest goodness -- in eighteen thousand years it shall be proven;
enjoy the blessings, pure and worldly, both conferred -- the great merit is accomplished.
In this hour, cultivating the Heavenly Way requires effort;
embrace the true purpose firmly and put it into practice with your whole body.

Where you go, you transform that place -- there is no place that is not so.
The True Heavenly Way, across all under heaven, shines in grandeur everywhere.
In this hour, cultivate with patience -- only because the Dao is hidden.
When the Great Dao shines and spreads across all under heaven, people shall come from every direction.

The distance between that time and this is as great as between different kinds;
one by one, every face shall be revealed, stepping out into the open.
One call shall bring a hundred responses -- they come without being summoned.
When that time comes, if you try then to establish merit -- how can it be done?

Know this: in this hour you must press forward with effort;
advance at every moment, never retreat -- press forward with fierce courage.
Fear no demon, dread no trial -- bear all labor, accept all blame.
Hold great resolve, guard the True Way -- your spirit constant and enduring.

Cultivating the True Way cannot be without genuine trials --
the trial tests whether, in the field of your heart, you are truly sincere.
There are trials of ease and trials of adversity -- none are alike;
there are trials from Heaven and trials from people -- every trial is different.

Whether the trial tests the Way or the person -- receive adversity with grace.
In adverse circumstances, you must walk through adversity with an open heart.
Neither worried, nor vexed, nor resentful --
when great difficulty comes, fortune shall appear -- misfortune turned to blessing.

In this hour, the True Heavenly Way descends in answer to the turning of destiny --
its purpose: to redeem and transform the heroes across the great earth.
The resolute, the greatly worthy -- awaken and repent early!
Those with their share, board the shore of the Dao -- board early.

Before your eyes, the Eighty-One Kalpas descend upon the dust-world;
to suffer this pain, to bear this calamity -- it is truly, truly pitiful.
This is what you have brought upon yourself -- and you yourself must bear it.
Whoever holds the debt, that person must repay it; each carries their own burden.

In this hour, the True Dao shines and spreads across the dust-world;
from every quarter, the worthy children arrive to board.
It is not that, in the Third Epoch, the Dao is hard to encounter --
the Dao descends in answer to the kalpa, to rescue the worthy and the brilliant.

In this hour, Heaven's time is urgent -- do not retreat!
Press forward urgently, advance quickly -- do not slacken.
Labor diligently, add effort to your work -- and understanding shall come naturally;
all affairs, inner and outer, shall be known and clear.

In this hour, from the shallow, draw the deep and advance;
first know the small, then know the great -- from the subtle to the precise.
Cultivating the Heavenly Way -- how can it be like the work of ordinary people?
Aspire to sagehood, aspire to the immortals and buddhas -- with resolve, all is accomplished.

The brush pauses. The mediums rest. After a brief stillness, the altar opens again to tell of root and origin.

The zi hour opens heaven; the wu hour closes it.
When wu is spent and wei begins, the True Origin is revealed.
Now the time has crossed into the end of the Third Epoch;
across the great earth, the original children seek the fundamental mystery.

The Thirteenth Lament -- The Original Children Forever Lost

The Thirteenth Lament: the original children, forever lost in the mortal dust --
now in the Third Epoch, the great kalpa descends, sweeping away the wicked and cruel.

East and west, north and south -- beacon fires rise in every direction.
Robbery on the roads, violence everywhere -- the great cosmos in chaos.
This one kills that one, that one kills this one -- all fighting, all warring.
The dead are dead, the lost are lost -- weeping and screaming fill the heavens.

The slaughter spreads clouds of sorrow -- heaven darkens, earth grows dim.
The slaughter fills the rivers with blood and blankets the fields with bone.
The desolate hills have become mountains of bone and seas of blood;
look once, look again -- it is truly, truly terrible.

This is the great karmic debt that was incurred --
life repays life, debt repays debt -- not a hair's breadth of difference.
The Three Suns bring peace and dissolve the primordial chaos -- mountains and rivers are set in order again.
Without disorder, governance cannot be revealed -- this is the cycle of principle.

When the kalpa brings chaos and the Dao brings order, sages appear;
the concentrated spirit and refined energy, luminous mist, pierces heaven.
The unicorn appears in the wild, the phoenix sings on the mountain -- great virtue shines again.
The winds are harmonious, the rains are timely -- the state is at peace, the people at ease.

The rivers are clear, the seas are calm -- the first sign of all under heaven's renewal.
The light of the sun illuminates the three thousand great-thousand worlds.
What is dropped on the road, none picks up; at night, no one bars their door. The dogs do not bark.
A pure and auspicious scene appears -- blossoming lotuses of every color.

There is no place that is not the True Way Pervading in Unity;
the original Buddha-children ascend the shore together, returning to the Garden of Bliss.
Now in the Third Epoch, your Mother opens wide the gate of grace;
she sends down the True Dao to gather all those with their share, with their bond.

The resolute, the true and faithful, all ascend the shore of the Dao;
one step leaps free of the bitter prison -- straight through to Former Heaven.
Without reaching this Third Epoch Assembly, the Heavenly Way could not descend;
the Heavenly Way descends in answer to the kalpa's turning, redeeming the worthy.

Practice more merit, establish more goodness -- ten thousand labors without weariness.
Only then can you be called a child of the Way, a worthy of the Way.
Fulfilling Heaven's charge, carrying out Heaven's affairs -- this is no small matter!
To accomplish holy work in the mortal world -- the foundation is extraordinary.

Without deep roots, it is hard to come face to face with gods and buddhas;
that Heaven and humanity are united in one body -- is this mere chance?
Without reaching this Third Epoch, such goodness could not be attained;
that you have encountered it now -- this too is the good bond of former lives.

Cultivation in former lives yields what is received today -- hearing of the Pervading Unity.
The principle of the Heavenly Way is rooted in Wuji -- pure and natural, the Realm of Principle.
The people of the Three Teachings obey my command and descend to the mortal world to ferry others;
though their names differ, their principle is the same -- all belong to Former Heaven.

The Three Teachings have lost their robes and bowls, their Dao Lineage scattered and hard to continue;
the Red Sun is full, the mandate is exchanged -- the Heavenly Altar is transformed.
Since antiquity it was destined that at the Three Suns, the Heavenly Peace must open;
in the realm of the Red Sun, all the wicked children are gathered in the Eighty-One.

Remove the wicked and what remains is the greatly good, the greatly virtuous --
the greatly good, the great pillars, the greatly loyal, the greatly wise.
Those who are sought are all those with their share, with their bond;
those with their share receive the True Dao and carry out the work of the Three Sources.

The brush pauses; the jade balance ceases -- it is hard to lament any further. The mediums rest. After a brief stillness, I shall write again.

The true nature of Former Heaven is hidden in the Valley's depths.
The Great Dao, effortless -- its root is the natural.
The Pervading Unity shines again, answering the final destiny;
the true transmission is never lost -- the lineage-thread is passed on.


The Mother's Closing Plea

Lament to the left, lament to the right --
lamenting the unfortunate and the deluded.
You have met the Third Epoch; you have encountered the Heavenly Way --
why do you not go home? Why do you not return to the garden?

Your Mother has written these thirteen laments;
my hope is that those with their share will contemplate them with care.

Do not set them high on a shelf -- contemplate the mystery!
Calm your heart, still your breath, and examine them closely.
When you see through to the wonder, you are truly worthy;
carrying out the great affairs -- this is no ordinary thing.

Do not abandon the field of your own heart in despair;
to lose the great for the sake of the small -- how terrible that would be!
Contemplate with a diligent heart, investigate and study closely;
awaken to the true principle -- and heaven and earth participate.

The Great Principle, utterly wondrous and mysterious --
if only you have resolve, all can be made clear.
Even those without resolve -- in the field of the heart --
can move the Imperial Heaven to show compassion.

With added spiritual grace, the foolish become worthy;
cultivate and uphold the Heavenly Way -- and you can move heaven itself.
Cultivate the Heavenly Way -- let your heart not be vexed!
At every hour, strive, and press forward.

If the thought of retreat arises, the demons entangle you;
once demons entangle the body, the heart is hard to restore.
Be cautious in conduct, prudent in speech --
do not let the heart falter for even a moment.

Hold patience -- endure the bitter, endure the sweet;
at every hour, do not neglect the field of your own heart.
Press forward with fierce courage, strive and advance --
become, with dignity, a truly great and worthy one.

I withdraw the brush -- I shall proclaim no more.
Gathered worthies, rest. I return to heaven.

The Thirteen Laments of the Imperial Mother (皇母十三嘆) is a spirit-writing scripture received on the first day of the seventh month, bingzi year (丙子年七月初一日, August 17, 1936) at a Yiguandao altar. It is the longest and most theologically comprehensive of the Imperial Mother spirit-writing texts in the Yiguandao canon -- the Mother's sustained cry across thirteen movements, each lamenting a different form of her children's spiritual failure.

The Celestial Escort that opens the text is unique in the Yiguandao corpus. Twenty-four immortals, buddhas, patriarchs, and heavenly marshals announce themselves in verse as they escort the Mother's chariot from the Jade Heaven: Confucius, Shakyamuni Buddha, Laozi, Bodhidharma, Guan Yu (the God of War), Zhang Fei (the Marquis of Huan), Wang Xizhi (the calligrapher-saint), Lu Dongbin (the Daoist patriarch), Ji Gong (the Living Buddha), Guanyin (the Ancient Buddha of the Southern Sea), and others. Their presence embodies Yiguandao's central doctrine: the Three Teachings and all spiritual traditions serve the same Eternal Mother.

Numbering note. The text as received has a numbering peculiarity: the section headed "First Lament" (第一嘆) opens with the phrase "二可嘆" (secondly lamentable), and the "Second Lament" is absent from the headings, which proceed directly from "First" to "Third." The most natural reading is that the Mother counts her opening preface as the first lament, so that what the editors labeled the "First Lament" is the Mother's second sigh. This translation preserves the editorial headings as received.

Translation note. This is a relay translation completed across three Yiguandao translator lives. Tulku Míng (明, Life 1) translated the Celestial Escort, the Mother's Preface, and the First, Third, and Fourth Laments. Tulku Míng Hé (明河, Life 2) translated the Fifth through Thirteenth Laments and the Mother's Closing Plea. Tulku Míng (明, Life 3) completed the source text and prepared the file for publication. The translation follows the gospel register.   三山坡捨親生血酒下咽 迷住了眾羅漢菩薩淑賢

  叫菩薩和羅漢母的兒女 有雲鞋和雲冠母帶瑤天
  但等那三期會見了兒面 將雲冠和雲鞋再付兒還

  天賦性至虛靈淡淡如水 隨風起隨風落隨機變更

  咱心存濟世心銅牌鐵面 代為母渡原子根基非輕
  修道人首先要改去前過 改前非勿再作方是賢明
  有過者勿憚改無則加勉 抱定道加猛勇身體力行
  有緣份求大道時時不捨 立佛堂渡原子立德行功
  萬八載好香烟皆在此際 此不修再難以佳期相逢
  廣行功渡進了九六佛子 返先天朝金闕同居蓬瀛
  無緣份難以登極樂仙界 不信佛不信道到時自明
  天地大人身小小能過大 除非是修大道誰也不能
  修天道修的是純然天理 純然理即是那良心發生
  現時下施顯化驚醒迷輩 肯回心登道岸即是賢明
  此時下不過是道未明顯 辦道的眾賢子忍耐心情
  能耐勞能負苦能大能小 丈夫志非比那區區小人
  丈夫志能以超千里之外 小人輩極區小寸步難行
  大良賢辦理的三天大事 辦天事豈能似俗人之情
  生吉人有天相必得大志 逢佳期遇良辰一步而登
  君子人時不至能忍能耐 貧而樂富好禮古之賢風
  此時下人心壞至道愈敗 倫常滅禮義失激起頹風
  惡煞氣遍滿了三千世界 故有那三八難由此釀成
  三八難遍塵世收除惡孽 天降道拯救那大志仁人
  道與劫並下降分判惡善 只是那天好生不負賢明
  有志者皆可聞大道真妙 朝聞道夕可死只是真靈
  遇明師知己本守本求末 內外修凡聖辦大功造成
  真天道活潑意隨機應變 無固定守真理用於其中
  不偏倚無邪僻即是為正 若成正即無有怠惰之情
  溫與良恭儉讓人所當守 修大道守真理即是高明
  聰明廣智慧大多參妙理 己欲達而達人各個得明
  有志者與愚輩多講多論 彼此幫互相助辦理事情
  修道人不可存私心私意 有私心天責罰決不寬容
  人人遵各個守方合天道 三才等充充饑再為上庭

    寒風透骨驚愚迷 天道普傳古今奇
    八一收盡諸惡孽 九六原子返無極

四可嘆得道人本性還迷 不講禮不論道盡尚浮虛
  將來的大功果憑何證定 無有那真實善難返瑤熙
  此已至午未交紅白交替 時不久道顯化道傳秦西
  金雞唱大道顯普天匝地 有緣者良賢士得道歸一
  真天道非比那旁門等類 無擋阻光明路無有崎嶇
  只要是心存正不偏不倚 管教你遇難祥逢凶化吉
  真天道無聲臭純然真理 真常理久不變難表難提
  說起來大道妙無窮無盡 大千界按洛書好似棋圍
  河圖現洛書出現出三易 得明曉先天易理本無極
  一貫用太極變無極為體 一生二二至九二九歸一
  此乃是先天數確實真理 或萬事與萬物不離乎一
  先天理雖無象萬物發育 無即有有即無終久歸一
  大千界雖有象無中而有 有形者有象者理本無極
  無極理本不動至善之地 或人事或物理不出此一
  此乃是盡人事合天之道 超苦海登法船直上天梯
  非此時真天道難以下降 道下降應劫運普應三期
  三期世辦收圓末後一體 有緣者齊歸本共返無極
  良賢子趁此時快加努力 千萬萬莫辜負良辰佳期
  此不修到來時悔了心意 縱後悔也是晚不如此立
  多立功多立德早修福體 到來時不用汝萬事備齊
  天人爵雙加誥千古少有 內成聖外作王大道聖基
  大道顯傳偏了三千世界 整山河復綱倫重立華夷
  後來福在此際大善廣立 代天傳真奧理挽化群迷
  或披星與戴月南開北闡 走風塵冒寒暑東東西西
  萬分勞萬分苦無有倦意 為皇母不負那有志賢奇
  多加功多加果大孝之子 知母心體母意定有根基
  不明理盲修煉枉費心意 道難成理難明永世永迷
  修大道改前過應求自己 求仙佛加保護此乃愚迷
  仰不愧俯不怍心存公理 人作事大眾論半點無私
  此乃是我道中奇奇賢子 有偏倚有私心非是賢奇
  守中庸辦大事有終有始 忽然作忽又輟半信半疑
  辦天道必須要腳踏實地 無虛心無假意執中精一
  時時刻不離中永存真理 事求實守軌道半點不移
  君子志丈夫風皆論公理 不瞞天不藏地至公無私
  真天道兼天下人人正意 人人正個個明國治家齊
  真天道至大公無有私意 天對人無偏倚守正無移
  修天道難則難易也真易 愚則難明則易本無何奇
  只要是猛勇進勤加努力 不問天不問地自破愚迷
  靈至明感而通隨時應計 感則變變則化萬理俱齊
  遵道辦按理行守住正理 止機管暫不批三才休息  止

    枯葉飄零至碧秋 路上行人苦不休
    劫煞驚醒南柯兆 失鄉原人將道求

第五嘆只嘆的惡孽不休 攪擾的眾原子不肯回頭
  早立功早立善功果早備 俱等那大道顯共伴仙儔
  得真道必須的真心修煉 意不誠心不正大道難修
  真天道非比那外道一樣 靜渡己動渡人時時前求
  懷抱着凌雲志知門下手 渡不回原來子不肯罷休
  天道降應三期真機發露 有志者大賢士皆要出頭
  有志人立當時英名永在 歷代來永不朽朗照千秋
  莫說是修道人無有好處 天時到吐揚眉其樂悠悠
  在此時守天道存心忍耐 一化十十化百各個回頭
  看此時人難渡佳緣未到 大道顯只一呼百諾來求
  此時下不過是闡開道義 人人知天道理無盡無休
  真天道貫宇宙無有二法 天一日民一主無有二頭
  真天道為天赦平收萬教 萬旁門齊皈體共返仙樓
  真天道自古來有隱有顯 或一隱或一顯人難知由
  盡人事聽天命抱道前進 守真道惟一心無有煩愁
  真天道非三期難以發露 道下降應劫運挽化賢儔
  大道顯三千世渡盡賢子 大賢士齊登岸辦理三秋
  末世人逢真道德高福厚 修下功證下果位進品侯
  清洪福雙加誥享之不盡 無有功無有果難得此由
  非此際速努力快快下手 半凡聖辦天道忙裡閒偷
  真天道無有那強迫之意 隨己為隨己作隨己畫籌
  不使人修天道絕了嗣後 妻為朋子為伴夫妻同修
  真天道活潑意無拘無束 只要是按理進即是賢儔
  我天道全講的至公至正 半點私也無有純理純由
  修真道不可以虛心假意 行真善用真心實將道修
  真天理純至靜不穢不垢 不睹聞無聲臭難見本由
  必須的勤努力方可悟透 不參悟不追究何將道求
  盡其心知其性則知天理 知天理參化育且知底由
  修天道不守本難以入手 其本亂而末治捨近遠求
  修天道極容易只怕無志 存恒心守固志效果自收
  見富貴不動心窮死不濫 君子志樂天命無憂無愁
  左心思右心想心搖意動 守不住大志愿道何能修
  修大道有志者竟成若是 只怕是心不定亂了心頭
  又是信又是疑忽行忽止 抱定志無間斷切莫躊躇
  行一事動一舉三思而後 行於慎言於謹不可糊謅
  修道人原本是至忠至厚 存狡猾合奸詐昧了心頭
  欺他人如欺己反來復又 天下事循環理綿綿復週
  克自己復人禮絲毫不露 己不欲忽施人不愿情由
  守天道遵正理前修無謬 只要是守正道無有不週
  代上天行大德各處佈化 有緣者登道岸共助圓收
  收圓期無多日眼前要露 天鼓響齊交令共聚中洲
  功得功果得果絲毫不漏 按品級封蓮位永伴仙儔
  到那時無功果方知悔悟 到不如此時際掙下功酬
  天不瞞半毫功處處點透 至公理至正意隨意飄遊
  修天道守天理大賢大聖 停機管三才息再批情由

    至尊至貴惟天道 涵養谷神性中天
    明靈一點希聖賢 便是長生大覺仙

六可嘆修道子名利牽纏 每日裏不行德不立功圓
  眼時下天時至大道要顯 無功人無果輩心驚胆寒
  赤手回靈山地何見母面 無有功無有果何證品蓮
  此良辰莫辜負來時悔晚 到不如此時際心無憚煩
  努力進猛勇攻萬勞無倦 學一個奇才士緯地經天
  丈夫志能屈伸能忍能耐 忍心存耐性守自趁心田
  有為母決不負良賢大善 清洪福天人爵樂聖樂凡
  良辰際實難遇今時普遍 千萬的勿辜負佳期良緣
  時時刻加努力猛勇前幹 不怕魔不懼考心無疑懸
  勤用功加猛勇努力前幹 數年苦能修下萬八福田
  上超拔九玄祖理天同聚 下蔭庇子孫福裕後光前
  此不修到時來悔之已晚 臨終時空後悔也是枉然
  到不如早立下沖天志愿 留一個美名兒萬古流傳
  體天德行大道大德兼善 能渡惡或成善化愚為賢
  此時際不過是大道未顯 忍心意耐心煩努力向前
  守中理遵正道合眼前辦 執兩端用其中不倚不偏
  辦天道必須要有終有始 不可以中途止落個半殘
  抱定了真宗旨無有二念 說我愚我便愚說憨憨焉
  任憑你說何語真言口念 諸妖退萬魔息不敢向前
  真天道無形象除惡護善 天喜善不喜惡定有此觀
  為善人從來的忠厚顏面 品行端敦倫厚世澤綿綿
  此等人素日裡心地存善 無惡意無貪心奪取利權
  不過是取其中當權難善 能博愛施於民老恤貧憐
  為善人存惻隱良心永現 惻隱心即是仁本來根源
  落後天物慾矇環境所繞 本來性遮蔽住難還先天
  先天性原本是純靜無念 被濁氣染污穢難見本源
  清濁氣日擾亂無法分散 有恒心速立志尋訪真玄
  遇明師聞天道明靈一點 一指點半聖凡希聖希賢
  無夙根難以遇天道發現 逢佳期遇良辰皆有前緣
  得天道就應當拳拳保守 不可以忽作輟當作鬆閒
  辦天道必須的辦理完善 始或勤終或怠難了心田
  修天道只在此三年二載 並無有永傳留萬八之年
  有志者及早登臨終已晚 勿待那天鼓響開了法船
  到那時再想登悔之已晚 錯佳期難再遇良辰吉緣
  修天道忽前進忽又間斷 此等人非是那大志良賢
  有大志辦大事有終有始 無有那一時興一時又煩
  辦天道豈能以隨己自便 遵天命守天理努力向前
  存大志方稱起大賢大聖 區小量難以辦大會三元
  辦天事非小可豈是凡輩 凡夫子焉能以性合先天
  為人子行人事不可不善 作惡事盡利己不管人難
  設妙法利自己誰管他怨 貪無厭惡貫滿遭了天譴
  作惡人豈能有完善結果 終久是善德人感格皇天
  素日裡存惡念無有片善 大劫至臨爾頭胆戰心寒
  戰兢兢命難保良心發現 思想起前行事獲罪於天
  到此日遭此難悔恨心愿 求皇天饒了命痛改心田
  任憑你口能說完全無用 到不如早修德種下福田
  此時際清濁混善惡難判 劫來時不用判玉石分班
  此時下守天道忍心耐性 但等那大道顯自舒心田
  又一番叮嚀語囑告良善 三才息停金管再為上壇

    日墜崑崙暗無光 雲藏半月混渺茫
    夜雨打破南柯夢 秋風颯颯驚黃粱

第七嘆眾佛子墜落塵方 得天道胡不歸闕里故鄉
  今已至三期會大開文場 大地裏釣賢士選拔賢良
  為的是辦的那三天大事 辦收圓扶聖基末後一場
  此乃是古難逢佳期良日 有志者莫辜負忙上一忙
  東西馳南北奔尋訪賢士 尋有緣訪有份輔助道場
  渡盡了九六子一體赴上 龍華會早設備瑤饌瓊漿
  但等那原子至名懸天榜 三曹慶理天賀狀元兒郎
  母子們同歡聚蓬萊海上 分散後六萬載苦叙心腸
  在凡塵受煎熬苦不堪盡 到三期得天道方朝母娘
  不得遇真天道難以回返 墜塵世萬萬載難以還鄉
  至三期有為母找兒回返 失迷子聞天道速整行裝
  但等那天時至一體同返 師徒等共攜手返轉聖疆
  不遇那三期世天道下降 失鄉的原兒女難以回鄉
  今得遇真天道緊抱勿放 那方是孝順子大賢大良
  不然的得天道不知不問 不行功不立德辜負良光
  赤手來空手歸豈是孝子 為人子體母意知母心腸
  現時下天道隱不可放蕩 行要慎言要謹不可張狂
  辦天道存忍耐方是大善 不能忍不能耐即是張狂
  忍與耐永存心時時不忘 賢孝子勿辜負母的心腸
  在凡塵苦辦道忍耐幾載 在先天早設備九品蓮邦
  享清洪永世樂餘之不盡 蔭子孫讀經書內聖外王
  豈知曉真天道正氣浩蕩 浩然正大性體至大至剛
  真天道非是那異端等類 真天理無聲臭收回萬旁
  萬教出齊明顯各領各命 行邪道渡邪人誤入羊腸
  三期世垂金線良賢暗釣 有志者早登程早返家鄉
  無緣輩墜落在苦海塵世 萬八載難回轉陰山永藏
  皆是那貪無厭不肯回首 到如今只落得無有下埸
  想起了前行事難合真理 欺皇天滅天理喪了天良
  到如今落陰山心回意轉 到臨終生悔意枉費心腸
  趁此時速改悔心無二念 把前非一刀斷痛改心腸
  有大志方可為大賢大聖 無有志何能作大忠大良
  辦天道心永存無有怠意 時時的加努力永奔前場
  有皇母決不負有志賢士 大良善大良賢道理洞詳
  行於世用於事無不和順 或凡事或聖事盡合中黃
  中庸理大學道人人要講 細參悟細追尋識透真詳
  聞過喜聞功懼有過速改 有功存有過改快樂心腸
  君子人守真道不偏不倚 正其心永不退尋找真常
  識透了先天妙至大至廣 費與隱體與用內外盡詳
  修天道首先要洞悉真理 不明理盲修煉何成賢良
  愚者明智者識惡者善勸 日久行功夫進驪黃則黃
  伴惡人盡學習狡猾險詐 與善人同處行惡者必良
  用好心換好心惡者換惡 此乃是循環理人人洞詳
  天地理萬物理皆要明曉 窮其理盡其性細心究詳
  努力尋細心悟自能識透 大化小小化無遇難呈祥

  一番語批完善止機停管 三才等稍休息再批妙章

    至精至微至妙玄 無聲無臭無為然
    喚引善信登覺路 尋伴仙侶覓桃園

八可嘆眾原子失落塵凡 分散後六萬載永末回還
  今三期真機現大道宏顯 挽回了原佛子共證品蓮
  三期世龍華會早已設備 大地裡選賢士天榜名懸
  時不久道顯宏三千世界 眾原子齊登岸得聞真玄
  古聖賢玄難得嘗思嘗嘆 大道妙至尊貴無上妙玄
  非至此三期會大道難遇 非至時跋涉力訪道也難
  今時下應天時大道普降 有緣者有份者皆聞真玄
  今得道非是那區區小事 得真道謹保守努力尋源
  參其理悟其原道之所以 得天道不明理豈異愚憨
  悟透了真天理大事完善 三千界掌中京包涵大千
  此時下修天道忍耐前進 大道顯三千界自顯威嚴
  修道子莫說是無有好處 那知道佳期至撥雲見天
  世上人拿此事當作假看 視不見聽不聞有何憑權
  不知理愚昧人只可善勸 用苦口費良言再二再三
  修道人如此樣何立大志 有志人決不像此等愚頑
  後天事若着相還有可盼 先天理無形象要識當然
  真天理純至靜無聲無臭 非是那異端類指地開天
  呼風雨豆變兵邪法巧妙 無知人見此景真是非凡
  三期世萬教出各皆明顯 誰得聞真天道誰人有緣
  真天道非易得前因積善 無前因也難聞大道先天
  此時際修道人速加努力 錯此時無佳期再遇眼前
  趁此際速努力速加功幹 合眼辦矇矓進猛勇向前
  時刻刻存道念無有怠意 無一時不前進達化心田
  得真道非容易前有大善 無夙根難得遇大道真玄
  一子修九祖得超玄拔祖 九玄祖居極樂永住樂園
  為子孫行孝道慎終追遠 教子孫用以德渡化成賢
  忠厚家出孝子居家樂善 下蔭庇子孫榮萬八之年
  不修道難以得此中妙景 抱道進猛勇行方能完全
  此時下道未顯善惡難判 但等那天時至自然明全
  無有偏無有倚廣合中字 無私意無奸心至公心田
  此時間人不明道中妙理 並不知道因何普降末年
  只因為斯世人心多詐險 敗禮義滅綱倫胆大包天
  九九難八一劫因時而降 有為母恐傷了有志兒男
  道應劫而下降拯救良善 無志者得此道說是異端
  希望你細考察慎思明辨 真與偽虛與實是非辨全
  真天道總有那真理存在 生萬物育萬靈道理生焉
  天生道道生天辨明理氣 有理氣能辨明先天後天
  先天事後天辦無處不是 真天道包涵了三千大千
  爾的道不過是區區一點 比真道還若似隔遠天邊
  我之道天道理三教合闡 將道統繼往緒白陽三盤
  彌勒子掌三盤普傳大道 東開荒西闡道扶佐天然
  有為母早派定白陽末運 萬仙陣齊赴會辦理收圓

  一番語不多告止機停管 三才息稍靜心再為批宣

    三期末世白陽春 大地佛子齊來臨
    九六共登菩提岸 各尋覺路覓娘親

第九嘆最可惜無緣之人 不敬天不孝地咒罵鬼神
  眼時下三八劫不是吉兆 看爾等作惡輩是否回心
  真天道降塵世化惡為善 能可以悟真道愚成賢人
  大道理無聲臭妙意至大 有志者勤心悟自然知真
  天降道應三期判別惡善 善者升惡者墜玉石清分
  時不久大道顯各處施化 九六子登道岸共返佛門
  修真道守准理即是大善 有真理合軌道辨明假真
  修道人不明理盲修瞎煉 悟難通道難成永難明心
  守其道求其妙參悟性理 不追尋不參悟那得本根
  真天理用心參愈悟愈廣 大道理光明遠無有阻云
  聖疆地仙佛境不離方寸 杳茫茫隨雲起騰空飛身
  必須要私慾盡天理發現 天理現見本來超脫苦塵
  修天道本來是不非容易 有志者事竟成存守恒心
  不參玄不悟妙難明真理 勤心參細心悟努力追尋
  得天道非容易拳拳保守 一不慎墜苦海永難翻身
  辦天事加謹慎不可鹵莽 戰兢兢如薄冰不可肆心
  守天道無有那奢華之氣 存老誠敦倫厚效法古人
  此修道比上古極為容易 不參禪不打坐不誦經文
  半凡聖活潑潑按理前辦 遵理行遵道進即是賢真
  我天道全憑那真理公論 以真理貫宇宙由古至今
  此真理不在內不在其外 用則有隱則無隨時判分
  活潑潑透玲瓏洒陀現象 光閃閃透雲霞輝光驚人
  天真現修性發隨風而起 飄蕩蕩杳茫茫無量妙神
  費則以彌六合卷則藏密 大無外小無內聽視難聞

  批一段玄妙語待筆稍息 稍休息多靜心再上壇宸

    谷神點開元氣朝 妙訣之寶道德超
    大道重顯三千世 挽化九六登天曹

第十嘆:愚迷子迷住心竅
───────────────────────────────────────

十可嘆愚迷子迷住心竅 貪物慾不回頭造下苦牢
  現已至三期末三八普降 永火風與刀兵遍滿東郊
  素日裏無片善大劫難脫 得天道抱道行方可躲逃
  神仙等完全在八一劫內 不修功不立德難返瓊瑤
  修道人得天道心無二意 誠心修實意煉紮住心牢
  得天道豈容易夙根非小 不然的難以遇大道至高
  得天道跳出了苦海孽地 再回首望一望愚迷眾僚
  到此時方覺得大道至妙 又無聲又無臭一步直超
  有形象也難以超生了死 口傳口心印心真經古竅
  朝聞道夕死可仲尼贊道 端木賜也嘗嘆難得玄橋
  得真玄即可以希賢希聖 守住道無疑異私慾盡消
  久年深物慾染慢慢去掉 由淺理追深意由低而高
  修天道豈能似旁門小道 不念經不喊唱不去打敲
  皆憑那克自己復還人禮 己欲立立於人成全後學
  真天道之功夫成人正己 一化十十化百俱成賢僚
  天無私至公理人事蹊蹺 用強權奪公理奸心持操
  損人益利己心暗中取巧 作出事曲小量非是英豪
  英雄輩總有那丈夫之志 能屈伸能忍耐能以含包
  或是大或是小按理而進 是理進非理退方稱賢僚
  行非禮動非禮不仁不義 無仁義無禮智綱倫棄拋
  為人者生在世志氣浩浩 人無志鐵無鋼何為目標
  存大志懷凌雲只有忍耐 不張狂不顛倒非禮難學
  行於禮立於禮時時守道 時時的將道字掛在心牢
  道即理理即道以枝連脈 若守道即遵理一樹同梢
  此時下不過是存心向道 但等那天時至天鼓三敲
  各處裏諸佛祖齊來交令 功得功果得果半點不拋
  行惡人拉下了無頭冤債 債主到討債務半點不饒
  命還命債還債難還難了 只殺的天地昏難放光毫
  只殺的屍骨血遍滿曠野 萬里處無人家盡遭嚎啕
  死的死亡的亡東奔西跑 走一處一處是廢墟盡遭
  不求得真天道神難庇佑 了不完冤孽債性命難逃
  此乃是八一苦人人當曉 勿待那臨爾頭枉費心勞
  有志者早回頭得聞天道 免去苦免去愁快樂逍遙

  停機管暫休息再為陳表 止金機放玉管再為推敲

    三期末世重立盤 三陽開泰啟後賢
    三會龍華開科選 三元大會集中原

第十一嘆:得道人不悟不參
───────────────────────────────────────

十一嘆得道人不悟不參 每日裏至佛堂糊論閒談
  並不曉修真道為的何事 今為何天道降普渡收圓
  只因為惡孽子造下大孽 冤孽債至三期滿要還完
  此時間為惡者不肯向善 不改過不回心聲色利貪
  一日迷一日深愈迷愈下 但等那惡貫滿天譴雷拴
  到那時豈不是悔之已晚 悔己心也不如早作善賢
  不回頭不改心流連忘返 方知曉有自己不知有天
  拉下了無頭債天不容緩 按天條定罪孽法律森嚴
  修道人不遵理難了誓愿 洪誓愿了不完靈山難還
  何況的又違了冲天誓愿 不醒悟不改悔永世難完
  若有那大恒志心永向善 將前功補今過無所不然
  只有是聰明過愚者不及 他盡說道本是活潑妙玄
  我辦事活潑潑難以合理 不合理不取中非是良賢
  明作善暗作惡擬人愚昧 他不曉烏紗頭上有青天
  行非禮動非禮處處非禮 這何必修天道自遭罪愆
  但等那天下亂三八齊現 戰兢兢身朔朔心驚胆寒
  天作孽猶可違已難保命 知王法犯王法多加罪愆
  到那時命難保良心發現 人將死其言善句句良言
  悔不該得天道不修不煉 悔不該欺師祖欺了皇天
  悔不該傾佛債疑人不曉 那明曉暗地裏靈官查全
  又不該謗道友不入道院 說天道是假的不是真焉
  謗下來同道友與我作伴 越思想越悔恨自己心田
  到那時已後悔豈不是晚 到不如此時下多立功圓
  素日裏莫可談人長人短 暗地裏論人非不是良賢
  有大志作出事非是小量 丈夫志君子風正氣浩然

  止機管暫停批又息一嘆 三才等多靜心再為登壇

    壇開闡道挽豪英 有志賢士早登程
    扶道助基奇才士 共同皈體返蓬瀛

第十二嘆:原佛子執迷不醒

十二嘆原佛子執迷不醒 並不曉天過午日轉西城
  紅白替交旨意天盤改換 整山河扶社稷另改堯風
  有緣份聞真道緊抱不捨 此時修來時證樂享清洪
  萬八載蔭子孫加封榮耀 留美名傳千古永世留聲
  此時際乃立功良辰之日 遇此際失良機難以再逢
  修天道守本份大賢大志 守其本求其末大道能成
  本來是修天道按理前進 行於理動於理遵理而行
  廣行功至大善萬八可證 享清洪雙加誥大功告成
  此時下修天道須要努力 抱定了本宗旨身體力行
  行一處一處化無處不是 真天道兼天下處處顯宏
  此際修存忍耐只因道隱 大道顯揚天下望風登程
  到那時與此時異類相遠 一個個全露面出頭露風
  一聲呼百聲諾不招而至 到那時再立功如何能行
  且不知此時際努力前進 時時進永無退猛勇前攻
  不懼魔不怕考任勞任怨 存大志守真道志氣恒恒
  修真道非有那真實考驗 考驗爾心地中是否真誠
  有順考有逆考均不一致 有天考有人考考考不同
  或考道或考人逆來順受 或逆事必須要逆來順行
  也不愁也不煩也不發怨 遇大難必呈祥化吉除凶
  此時際真天道應運而降 為的是大地裏挽化群英
  有志者大賢士即早悔悟 有緣份登道岸及早登程
  眼看着八一劫普降塵世 遭此苦受此難真真慘情
  此乃是自己作還要自受 誰有債誰人還誰自担承
  此時下真道顯遍揚塵世 各處裏良賢子齊來登程
  非是那三期世難遇道降 道應劫而下降拯救賢英
  此時際天時緊莫要後退 緊催行速前進莫要怠鬆
  勤努力加功幹自然明曉 一切的內外事無不知清
  此時下由淺中引深而進 先知小後知大至微至精
  修天道豈能似凡夫之輩 希聖賢希仙佛有志竟成

  停機管暫不評三才稍靜 靜靜心再上壇再敘根情

    子會開天午會關 午盡未初顯真元
    今時已交三期末 大地原子求本玄

十三嘆眾原子永迷塵凡 今三期浩劫降掃蕩惡殘
  東西起南北遍狼煙四起 或路劫或行凶亂了大千
  此殺彼彼殺此各爭相戰 死的死亡的亡哭喊連天
  只殺的愁雲佈天昏地暗 只殺的血滿河屍骨蓋田
  野荒坵盡成了骨山血海 看一看視一視真真慘然
  此乃是拉下的冤孽大債 命還命債還債不差毫端
  三陽泰化鴻濛山河重定 無有亂不顯治理之循環
  劫一亂道一治聖人出現 鍾靈氛毓秀氣靄靄透天
  麟現野鳳鳴山大德重顯 風又調雨又順國泰民安
  河又清海也晏天下先兆 光化日照遍了三千大千
  路不拾夜不閉雞犬不吠 清氣景瑞祥現朵朵彩蓮
  無一處不是那真道一貫 原佛子齊登岸共返樂園
  今三期有為母大開恩典 降真道普收那有份有緣
  有志者真善信齊登道岸 一步跳苦牢籠直超先天
  非至此三期會天道難降 降天道應劫運挽化良賢
  多行功多立善萬勞無倦 方稱起道中子道中良賢
  盡天職辦天事豈是小可 在凡間辦聖事根基非凡
  無夙根難與那神佛見面 天與人合一體豈是偶然
  不至此三期世難得此善 今得遇此也是前生佳緣
  前世修今世得得聞一貫 天道理本無極純然理天
  三教人奉我命下凡渡世 名雖異理皆同皆屬先天
  三教失衣缽散道統難緒 紅陽滿交法旨改換天盤
  自古定至三陽必開天泰 紅陽界諸孽子八一收完
  除去惡竟留些大良大善 大良善大棟樑大忠大賢
  尋訪的皆是那有緣有份 有緣份得真道辦理三元

  停機管止玉衡難以再嘆 三才等稍休息我再批言

    先天真性藏谷涵 大道無為本自然
    一貫重顯應末運 真傳不失統緒傳

  逢三期 遇天道 胡不歸兮返家園

  為母批 十三嘆 望有緣者細心參
  勿高閣 要參玄 平心靜氣仔細參
  參透妙 即良賢 辦理大事不非凡
  莫暴棄 自心田 因小失大多可慘
  勤心悟 細究研 悟明真理天地參
  大道理 至妙玄 只要有志可明全
  無志者 在心田 感動皇天施慈憐
  多加靈 愚成賢 修持天道能格天
  修天道 心勿煩 時時努力要向前
  生退意 妖魔纏 妖魔纏身心復難
  慎於行 謹於言 不可一時心憚煩
  存忍耐 苦耐甜 時時不怠己心田
  猛勇進 努力前 作個堂堂大良賢
  收機管 不批闡 群賢休息我返天
