A Hymn of Maṇḍala 10

Rigveda X.188 is a sūkta (hymn of praise) from Maṇḍala 10 of the Rigveda, one of the 1,028 hymns organized within the ten books of the oldest Veda. The Rigveda was composed approximately 1700–1100 BCE in Vedic Sanskrit and preserved through oral transmission across millennia.

This is a Good Works Translation produced by the New Tianmu Anglican Church from the Sanskrit of the Śākala recension.

Spur forth now, O Jātavedas, thou steed of prize and fame, and take thy seat upon this holy grass of ours.

For Jātavedas here—whose champions are seers, who giveth gifts and glories—I awaken a great song of praise.

The shining shafts of Jātavedas, that bear the offering unto the gods— with them, let him drive our worship home.
