Ode XXXI
I stood without fear like a solid rock, which is battered by waves and endures.
1.
The abysses were dissolved before the Lord,
and darkness was destroyed from before his face.
2.
Error went astray and perished from him, and contempt received no path,
and was drowned by the truth of the Lord.
3.
He opened his mouth and spoke grace and joy,
and he spoke a new praise to his name.
4.
And he raised his voice to the Most High,
and he offered to him the sons who were in his hands.
5.
And his face was justified,
because thus his holy Father had given to him.
6.
Come forth, you who were afflicted,
and receive joy.
7.
And inherit your souls through grace,
and take to yourselves immortal life.
8.
And they condemned me when I stood,
me who had not been condemned.
9.
And they divided my spoil,
though nothing was owed to them.
10.
But I endured and was silent and was still,
as though I was not moved by them.
11.
But I stood without fear like a solid rock,
which is battered by waves and endures.
12.
And I bore their bitterness in humility,
that I might save my people and instruct them.
13.
And that I might not make void the promises to the chief fathers,
to whom I had promised the salvation of their seed.
