Ode XXXVIII

Truth guided me and brought me. And everything that I did not know it showed me.

1.

I ascended to the light of truth as to a chariot,
and truth guided me and brought me.

2.

And it carried me over chasms and crevasses,
and from rocks and waves it saved me.

3.

And it became to me a harbour of salvation,
and set me on the step of immortal life.

4.

And it went with me and gave me rest and did not let me err,
because it was truth and is.

5.

And there was no danger for me because I was walking with it,
and I did not err in anything because I obeyed it.

6.

For error was fleeing from it,
and did not meet it.

7.

But truth was going on the straight road,
and everything that I did not know it showed me.

8.

All the poisons of error,
and scourges that are thought to be the sweetness of death.

9.

And the corruptor of corruption — I saw when the bride who corrupts was being adorned,
and the bridegroom who corrupts and is corrupted.

10.

And I asked truth who these were,
and it said to me, "This is the Deceiver and Error."

11.

And they imitate the Beloved and his bride,
and they lead the world astray and corrupt it.

12.

And they invite many to the wedding feast,
and give them to drink the wine of their drunkenness.

13.

And they remove their wisdom and knowledge,
and they make them without understanding.

14.

And then they leave them,
and they go about wandering madly and corrupting.

15.

Since they are without heart,
nor do they seek for it.

16.

But I was made wise so that I did not fall into the hands of the Deceiver,
and I rejoiced in myself because truth went with me.

17.

And I was established and lived and was saved,
and my foundations were laid by the hand of the Lord.

18.

Because he planted me. For he set the root,
and watered it and established it and blessed it.

19.

And its fruits are forever. It deepened and grew and spread,
and was full and was magnified.

20.

And the Lord alone was glorified,
in his planting and in his cultivation.

21.

In his care and in the blessing of his lips,
in the beautiful planting of his right hand.

22.

And in the beauty of his planting,
and in the understanding of his thought.

ܣܷܿܠܩܶܬ ܠܢܽܘܗܪܳܐ ܕܰܫܪܳܪܳܐ ܐܰܝܟ ܕܰܠܡܰܪܟܰܒܬܳܐ܆
ܘܕܰܒܼܪܰܢܝ ܫܪܳܪܳܐ ܘܰܐܝܬܝܰܢܝ.

2.

ܘܰܐܥܒܼܪܰܢܝ ܦܰܚ̈ܬܶܐ ܘܣܶܕܩ̈ܶܐ܆
ܘܡܼܶܢ ܫܩܺܝ̈ܦܶܐ ܘܓܰܠ̈ܠܶܐ ܦܰܪܩܰܢܝ.

ܘܰܗܘܳܐ ܠܺܝ ܠܡܺܐܢܳܐ ܕܦܽܘܪܩܳܢܳܐ܆
ܘܣܳܡܰܢܝ ܥܰܠ ܕܰܪܓܳܐ ܕܚܰܝܷ̈ܐ ܕܠܴܐ ܡܰܘܬܳܐ.

ܘܐܷܙܰܠ ܥܰܡܝ ܘܰܐܢܺܝܚ ܠܺܝ ܘܠܴܐ ܫܰܒܩܰܢܝ ܕܶܐܛܥܶܐ܆
ܡܶܛܽܠ ܕܰܫܪܳܪܳܐ ܐܺܝܬܰܘܗ̱ܝ ܗ̱ܘܳܐ ܘܗܼܽܘܝܽܘ.

ܘܠܴܳܐ ܗܘܳܐ ܠܺܝ ܩܺܝܢܕܽܘܢܽܘܣ ܕܥܰܡܶܗ ܡܗܰܠܶܟ ܗ̱ܘܺܝܿܬ܆
ܘܠܴܐ ܛܥܺܝܬ ܒܡܶܕܶܡ ܡܶܛܽܠ ܕܶܐܫܿܬܰܡܥܶܬ ܠܶܗ.

ܥܳܪܩܳܐ ܗ̱ܘܳܬ ܓܶܝܪ ܡܶܢܶܗ ܛܳܥܝܽܘܬܳܐ܆
ܘܠܴܳܐ ܐܳܪܥܳܐ ܗ̱ܘܳܬܿ ܠܶܗ.

ܫܪܳܪܳܐ ܕܶܝܢ ܐܴ݀ܙܶܠ ܗ̱ܘܶܐ ܒܐܽܘܪܚܳܐ ܬܪܺܝܨܬܳܐ܆
ܘܟܽܠܡܶܕܶܡ ܕܠܴܐ ܝܿܳܕܰܥ ܗ̱ܘܺܝܿܬ ܠܶܗ ܡܚܰܘܶܐ ܗ̱ܘܳܐ ܠܺܝ.

ܠܟܽܠܗܽܘܢܿ ܣܰܡ̱̈ܡܳܢܶܐ ܕܛܳܥܝܘܽܬܳܐ܆
ܘܰܠܢܶܓ̈ܕܶܐ ܗܳܢܽܘܢܿ ܕܰܣܒܺܝܪܺܝܢ ܕܚܰܠܝܽܘܬܳܐ ܗ̱ܝܼ ܕܡܰܘܬܳܐ.

ܘܠܰܡܚܰܒܠܳܢܶܗ ܕܰܚܒܴܿܠܴܐ܆ ܚܿܳܙܶܐ ܗ̱ܘܺܝܿܬ ܟܰܕ ܡܶܨܛܰܒܬܳܐ ܗ̱ܘܳܬ ܟܰܠܬܳܐ ܕܰܡܚܰܒܠܴܐ܆
ܘܚܰܬܢܳܐ ܕܰܡܚܰܒܶܠ ܘܡܶܬܚܰܒܰܠ.

ܘܫܿܶܐܠܶܬ ܠܰܫܪܳܪܳܐ ܕܡܰܢ ܐܶܢܽܘܢܿ ܗܳܠܶܝܢ܆
ܘܐܷܡܰܪ ܠܺܝ ܗܴܿܢܰܘ ܡܰܛܥܝܳܢܳܐ ܘܛܳܥܝܽܘܬܳܐ.

ܘܡܶܬܕܰܡܶܝܢ ܒܚܰܒܺܝܒܳܐ ܘܰܒܟܰܠܬܶܗ܆
ܘܡܰܛܥܶܝܢ ܠܥܳܠܡܳܐ ܘܰܡܚܰܒܠܺܝܢ ܠܶܗ.

ܘܩܳܪܶܝܢ ܠܣܰܓܺܝ̈ܐܶܐ ܠܡܶܫܬܽܘܬܳܐ܆
ܘܝܳܗܒܺܝܢ ܠܗܽܘܢܿ ܕܢܶܫܬܽܘܢ ܚܰܡܪܳܐ ܕܪܰܘܳܝܽܘܬܗܽܘܢܿ.

ܘܰܡܬܺܝܒܺܝܢ ܚܶܟ̈ܡܳܬܗܽܘܢܿ ܘܡܰܕܥܰܝ̈ܗܽܘܢܿ܆
ܘܥܿܳܒܕܺܝܢ ܠܗܽܘܢܿ ܕܠܴܐ ܪܶܥܝܳܢܳܐ.

ܘܗܳܝܕܶܝܢ ܫܳܒܩܺܝܢ ܠܗܽܘܢܿ܆
ܘܗܳܢܽܘܢܿ ܕܳܝܢ ܗܳܘܶܝܢ ܡܶܬܟܰܪܟܺܝܢ ܟܰܕ ܦܳܩܪܺܝܢ ܘܰܡܚܰܒܠܺܝܢ.

ܟܰܕ ܠܰܝܬ ܒܗܽܘܢܿ ܠܶܒܳܐ܆
ܐܳܦ ܠܴܐ ܓܶܝܪ ܒܳܥܶܝܢ ܠܶܗ.

16.

ܘܶܐܬܚܰܟܿܡܶܬ ܐܶܢܳܐ ܕܠܴܐ ܢܶܦܿܠܶܬ ܒܺܐܝ̈ܕܰܝ ܡܰܛܥ̈ܝܳܢܶܐ܆
ܘܰܚܕܺܝܬ ܠܢܰܦܫܝ ܡܶܛܽܠ ܕܐܷܙܰܠ ܗ̱ܘܳܐ ܥܰܡܝ ܫܪܳܪܳܐ.
