A 58 — e
The Bodhisattva was the six-tusked elephant, great in strength and gentle in heart. Bhadrā and Subhadrā are remembered, and Indra, hunters, tusks, divine flowers, earthquake, and praise gather around the tale.
A 66 — d
The hunter struck him, yet the noble one did not answer harm with harm. Pain entered the body, but hatred did not rule the mind. The Bodhisattva protected the man who wounded him.
A 67 — i
Then he drew out his own tusks and sent them to the queen. What another tried to seize by violence, the Bodhisattva transformed into a gift. Compassion stood where revenge could have stood.
A 75 — g
The earth shook, divine flowers fell, and gods and humans praised the act. Even Indra bowed, for patience had become greater than pain, and the wounded one had shown the path of awakening.
