Translation

A 1 — a

The energetic one sends good renown in all directions. By effort one receives honor, overcomes enemies, wins prosperity, and becomes useful to others. A human life without zeal falls into sleep; a human life joined to wisdom becomes a field of merit.

But energy alone is not enough. Skill can be bent by desire. Beauty can stir the mind; passion can break what skill has made; shame can follow where restraint was absent. Strength without wisdom becomes a weapon against the one who holds it.

a4 It can inspire love, but it cannot create advantages

a5 Just like at another time some other painter went as a guest to the house of a mechanic

b1 and set an artificial girl at the head [of his bed]
