皇母聖訓
The Holy Instruction of the Imperial Mother (皇母聖訓, Huángmǔ Shèngxùn) is a Yiguandao (一貫道) spirit-writing revelation received at the Fazheng Altar (法正壇) in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the fifteenth day of the eleventh month in the year Jiaxu — corresponding to 1994 CE — during the Winter Grand Ceremony. The text records a celestial procession: fourteen groups of immortals, bodhisattvas, guardians, and saints descend to escort the Eternal Mother to the altar. Each group announces itself through an acrostic verse — the opening characters of each line spell the group's name — and then bows before the Mother's chariot.
When the court is assembled, the Mother speaks. Her address unfolds in three movements: a lament of sixteen paired cries asking why her children have fallen; thirty-two admonishments beginning "I want my children to..."; and a final farewell in which the cosmic deity who arrived with the armies of heaven weeps, asks to hold her children's hands, and strokes their heads before departing. Between the lament and the farewell, she warns against false teachers, instructs leaders and initiators, and prophesies the great reckoning.

I. The Celestial Procession
Humbly requesting a revelation from the Eternal Mother.
All Buddhas receive the command — the Dao sends its strength.
Heavenly truth gathers the harvest, answering the White Sun.
The divine Dao establishes teaching — the final act.
The sage recognizes principle and awakens the king of nature.
Ten thousand teachings, a thousand gates display their forms.

Bodhi-wisdom awakens — the mind shines bright.
The great Way of the bodhisattva reaches the vault of heaven.
We, the divine saints of all the heavens, the ten thousand immortals and bodhisattvas, together escort the Mother's chariot. We have come to this world of dust. We bow before the Lord's chariot.
May all worthies be at peace. No more words. Ha ha! Cease.
Four times seven, twenty-eight — from west toward east.
Greatly proclaim the true Dao — the Unity is vast.
The heavenly altar dome blazes with fire and light.
The King commands sun and moon to manage the final winter.
We, the Four Heavenly Kings, leading the Twenty-Eight Constellations — the Dragon Division, Tiger Division, Wind Division, and Thunder Division — together guard the Heavenly Mother's chariot. We have come to the dusty capital. We bow before the Imperial Mother.
May all worthies be at ease. No more instruction. Cease.
In the Eight Trigram Furnace, the Mother issues her decree.
Greatly revive this distant land and raise the true teaching.

We, the Four Great Law Masters — Guan, Lü, Yue, and Zhang — together guard the Mother's chariot. We have come to this mortal village. We bow before the Lord on High.
May all worthies be at peace. Guard the Buddha Rules well. Let your hearts not waver. Listen quietly to the instruction. Cease.
In the three realms there is a pilot.

The chief cause: the Enlightened Teacher descends.
When the test is passed — the Lotus Village.
I am the Three-Heaven Examiner, leading the Wu-character class and the Mao-character class, together guarding the Mother's chariot. We have come to the Buddha hall. We bow before the Heavenly Countenance.
Brothers and sisters, be at peace. Calm the field of your hearts. Do not make noise or disorder. Wait quietly for the Mother's chariot. Cease.
Teaching loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, and righteousness in practice —
with guiding principles and articles, the Confucian and Daoist ways flourish.
The bodhisattva's vow of compassion: rescue the original people.
How few know grace enough to repay it.
I am the Teaching Bodhisattva, leading the Yun-character class, together attending the Mother's chariot. We have come to the Buddha altar. We bow before the Mother's chariot.

The ultimate principle — investigate and prove without delusion.
Maha Prajna Paramita —
the immortal nature, perfectly bright and blazing.

The old and young alike — understand and practice truly.
Compassion, joy, equanimity, giving — merit and virtue.

teaching their disciples to bow before the Enlightened Teacher.
The holy Way, the Heavenly Mandate, one pointing bestowed.
The one who receives that single point ascends to the Jade Pool.
We, the founders of the five teachings — Buddha, Dao, Confucian, Christ, and Islam — together attend the Lord on High. We have come to the Buddha's curtained hall. We bow before the Lord on High.
May all be at peace. Ha ha! Cease.
She who observes the self-existing bodhisattva within —

The Imperial Grace pours down, lowering the golden thread.
The Master's grace, the Mother's virtue — piloting the Dharma-boat.
Rescuing those with affinity — together reaching shore.
Understand your original nature — the wondrous Mysterious Gate.
Give your body to the Dao, establish your vow.
Open the wasteland, plant the seed, endure the grinding.
Bow until you break, give all without regret or resentment —
and the fragrance of your offering, the beauty of your name, shall be remembered.
We, the Great Virtue True Lords — Wenci Bodhisattva, Dehui Bodhisattva, Huiyuan Marshal, and Cizheng Yuanjun — together leading the White Sun Immortals and True Ones, attend the Mother's chariot. We have come to the Buddha's chamber. When this is done — brothers and sisters, be at rest.
Let go of worldly affairs and show your sincerity truly.
Listen carefully to the sound of your Mother's instruction.
Hold tight to this one golden thread.
Establish your resolve for the Dao and guard the root.
Let a thousand demons and ten thousand tests come —
unmoved, steadfast, true.
Do you understand? Ha ha! Cease.
From the center, one pointing is bestowed.
Turn the light back and face the True Lord.

Do you understand? Cease.

your childlike nature is one with the Buddha.
We two, the Cloud-and-Treasure Children, attend the Mother's chariot to the Buddha's court.
Quickly — bow before the chariot! The Mother's chariot is about to arrive. No more comment. Hee hee! Cease.
II. The Mother Arrives
Bright, bright — supremely empty, supremely divine, supremely pure, supremely holy Honored One.
Lord on High — who gave birth to heaven, gave birth to earth, gave birth to all things, gave birth to all the people.
Ten thousand spirits, ten thousand beings, ten thousand responses, ten thousand transformations, ten thousand kinds of things.
True Sovereign, True Way, True Principle, True Change, True Cycle renewed.
I, the Luminous Lord on High — the Limitless, the Clear and Empty, the Most Honored and Most Holy, the True Sovereign of All Spirits in the Three Realms and Ten Directions —
leading all my Buddha-children, I have come to this world of dust.
I meet my children of the mortal world — all my original ones. Be still, children. Do not be careless. Wash your hearts, cleanse your thoughts, and show your sincerity truly. Your Mother and her children shall speak heart to heart once more.
The Three Talents receive the chariot. A moment of silence. Then the writing begins.
The Heavenly Dao, the sacred lineage of Unity — transmitted.
I command the three Buddhas to carry out the Great Gathering.
The golden boat, the firewood flame, the shore of Bodhi —
the route of light is clear. Do not stray into false paths.
III. The Mother Speaks
At this grand ceremony at the Fazheng Buddha Hall in Jakarta, I meet my children — and grief and joy mingle in my heart.
Children, calm your hearts and let your Mother look at you carefully.
And yet — I cannot help it — my heart breaks with sorrow.
Why have my children changed beyond recognition?
Why have my children fallen in love with this dusty world?
Why have my children been smothered in grime and veiled in darkness?
Why have my children lost the light of their spirits?
Why have my children given themselves to greed, anger, and delusion?
Why have my children clung to desire and passion?
Why have my children indulged in wine and lust and pleasure?
Why have my children fought over fame and profit?
Why have my children killed and stolen and committed outrage?
Why have my children cursed the heavens above?
Why have my children abandoned their own parents?
Why have my children maimed their own brothers and sisters?
Why have my children shown no respect to their teachers?
Why have my children cast off the bonds of moral law?
Why have my children wandered between life and death?
Why have my children not woken from the dream of Huangliang?
They have heaped up sins beyond measure — debts of karma towering high — and brewed a great catastrophe to wash the dusty world clean. And still they blame their Mother for sending disaster after disaster. And still they accuse their Mother of heartlessness, of abandoning her sons.
My children, my children — one cry, and my heart breaks.
My children, my children — does your Mother not grieve?
All of you are my children, born from my own divided spirit. I formed the ninety-six hundred million — male and female — and sent them to all the nations. Does your Mother have a heart of stone, uncaring and unfeeling? Your Mother watches, year after year, gazing toward the East.
Remember the day on Three-Mountain Slope when we parted — a thousand words, ten thousand instructions — have you kept them in your heart?
I told you: go to the dusty world and govern all things. Set the principle and the number in order — yin and yang, the five elements, heaven and earth. But never lose your true original form. Never be seduced by false scenery and lose your heavenly goodness.
A thousand warnings, ten thousand reminders — still ringing in your ears. And now my children drift, lost in the ocean. And now they cannot climb back to heaven through the wheel of life and death. And still they blame their Mother. What can I say?
IV. The Thirty-Two Admonishments
Listen, my children — your Mother speaks to you now. The time has reached the end — the Third Epoch. The White Sun age. I command Maitreya, and my children Tianran and Huiming, to hold the heavenly tray and bear the heavy mission on their shoulders. I lower the golden thread and send the Unity — the Enlightened Teacher descends. I open the golden lock and the gate, and the Mysterious Yellow is clear. First I transmit to you the ancient Combined Mudra — hold it in your heart. Then I point the Mysterious Pass, opening the path of awakening — radiant in that very instant. Then I bestow the great divine mantra — never let it leak or be forgotten. The Three Treasures — the Gate, the Phrase, the Mudra — have you remembered them clearly?
Receive the true Dao, awaken to true principle — cultivate until your nature shines bright. Follow the Master's intent, honor the resolve of the Dao — do not break the rules. The heavenly time is urgent, the danger pressing — we have reached the final act. A thousand gates, ten thousand teachings display their supernatural powers.
I want my children to see clearly — wipe your eyes bright.
I want my children to hold the Dao and walk — let your hearts not falter.
I want my children to know clearly the direction you came from.
I want my children to examine your desires and sweep away the filth.
I want my children to be filial to your parents and serve your elders.
I want my children to love your brothers and sisters — bonds of blood run long.
I want my children to keep the Three Refuges and Five Precepts and never forget them.
I want my children to follow the Three Bonds and practice the Five Constants.
I want my children to use this borrowed body to cultivate the true and remove the false.
I want my children to understand clearly — one point of spiritual light.
I want my children to take on the heavy burden and press forward.
I want my children to hold firm from beginning to end and walk the broad road.
I want my children to bow your hearts low — be humble, yield, be courteous.
I want my children to honor the Way of the Master and spread benevolence and righteousness.
I want my children to see all as equal — respect and understand one another.
I want my children to have hearts clear as crystal, bright as the sun and moon.
I want my children to let go of attachment to names and forms.
I want my children to act without self-interest — help one another with your whole hearts.
I want my children to release what binds you, inside and out.
I want my children to be proper and upright — both round and square.
I want my children to strengthen your faith and let your minds grow.
I want my children to be plain and steady — never stray from the true and constant.
I want my children, no matter what changes come, to remain unshaken and stand on your own.
I want my children to pour forth compassion from your hearts.
I want my children to save your fellow beings — ride the Dharma-boat together.
I want my children to eat clean and let your love be wide.
I want my children to give your bodies to the mission and open wasteland everywhere.
I want my children to transmit the true principle and raise the way of benevolence.
I want my children to bare your loyal hearts before the August Mother.
I want my children to file down your sharp edges and cultivate righteous breath.
I want my children to perfect the inner sage and cultivate the outer king.
V. The Mother's Grief
But what can I do — my children's will is wavering. What can I do — my children do not understand the way of the Dao. They received the Dao but do not study principle, clinging to forms and appearances. They pray for safety, pray for wealth, pray for blessings and good luck. They beg the immortals to serve their own profit and position. Do they not know that the fruit of heavy sins is plain for all to see?
If you commit evil and bring catastrophe upon yourself, you will perish by your own hand. The Dao and the trial — I decreed them both to descend upon the Eastern Land. I also sent the ten great demons to disturb the temples of the Dao. Where there is Buddha, there is Mara — both appear in this dusty world.
The ancient immortals and sages endured slander and abuse. A thousand blows, a hundred refinings — and they became diamond. Now look at the temples of the Dao — look at the elders who built them. They left their parents, gave up their livelihoods, and opened wasteland in foreign lands. Demon-tests, government-tests — their blood and sweat and tears flowed. Only then do you have today's temples and Buddha halls.
Those who came before planted great trees whose shade cools those who follow. When you receive a drop of water, repay it with a gushing spring — that is what it means to be worthy. Know this: the Master's grace is as vast as mountains and as deep as the sea. Receive that single pointing — transcend life and death, escape the ocean. No more birth and death, no more turning through the six paths and their net of karma. When one child attains, nine generations of ancestors rise to heaven together.

VI. Warning Against Disorder in the Dao
Today the temples of the Dao are in chaos and confusion. Each faction sets up its own gate, raises its own banner. Each claims to be the Patriarch, occupying one side. Each claims to have received the Mandate, holding supreme power. Each claims a Heavenly Mandate and a golden thread of its own. Each has its own temple, its own flock of disciples. They disregard their elders, running things by their own authority. They betray the Master, extinguish the Patriarch, and defy Heaven.
For such rebellious children, your Mother can only sigh. One misstep — and they fall into the demon's circle. This is not your Mother setting the test. This is not your Mother issuing a false mandate. It is because my children have given way to greed. It is because my children have strayed into deviant paths. They forgot grace and betrayed duty, grasping after names and forms. Your Mother simply lets the current push the boat along.
The temples of the Dao will face a great trial and selection. Each of you: be vigilant alone, confess your faults. Today your Mother tells you this one passage — a secret of heaven, leaked for her children. Engrave it in your hearts and do not offend. Attend to your own station, step by step. Fulfill the holy work. Fulfill the great vow. Compassion and loyalty — let these be your compass.
Do you understand?
VII. Instruction to the Leaders
I warn the leaders: cultivate your virtue to fullness. Lead through virtue — inspire the next generation of worthies. The Imperial Mother commands: the Great Virtue shall be chosen from among the Enlightened Teacher's own — Tianran and Huiming and the children of the lineage. Yulin carries on and inherits the holy work, lighting the firewood flame to illuminate the world.
My children, recognize the one golden thread. Elders and juniors — hearts joined together. The Heavenly Dao is bright but full of tests. Three-six-four-eight scramble for territory. There is truth and there is falsehood — but principle does not change. There is Buddha and there is Mara — they test the strength of your heart.
If a leader has no right mind —
if a leader craves power —
if a leader violates the Way of the Master —
if a leader walks a deviant path —
then whatever you desire, your Mother will grant it.
She will let you have fame and profit both.
She will send demon-children to keep you company
and prop you up as a great elder.
But the day of the great test, the great accounting — the clean and the muddy shall be sorted, the wheat from the weeds. Therefore, leaders: work in fear and trembling. Lead your juniors with a compassionate heart. You are all children of the same Imperial Mother. You are all disciples of the same Master. Pull one another forward — seek out talent. Act without ego, without self-interest — follow the pattern of earth and heaven. Take credit for nothing, shoulder the blame for everything — that is the wise one. Let go of all things, and you possess ten thousand.

VIII. Instruction to Point-Transmitting Masters
Listen to your Mother's evaluation of Point-Transmitting Masters. You carry the Heavenly Mandate — follow the Master's way.
If you are partial and indulge your temper —
if you make distinctions and breed ignorance —
if you disrespect your elders —
if you bully your juniors —
if you are unfair in personal matters —
if you are arrogant and push to the front —
if the blood-heart rises and takes control —
if the Four Proprieties offend the Three Purities —
if desire disturbs and the heart cannot settle —
if you deceive others, deceive yourself, and cover your faults —
the heavens above are like a great bright mirror:
every merit and every fault is reflected, clearly seen.
A Point-Transmitting Master's duty is heavy — on the Master's behalf, you transmit the Dao at great sacrifice. Respect your elders with propriety and reverence. Teach your juniors and help them climb the upper steps. Know the Buddha Rules and ritual etiquette thoroughly. Keep the sacred affairs before the Buddha altar clear and clean.
But if you privately hoard and use the Master's authority —
if you claim talent for yourself alone —
if you claim the Three Talents for yourself alone —
if you suppress others until they cry out in resentment —
if you use the Three Talents left and right at your whim —
if you chase what pleases you and compete for fame and profit —
then the demons too carry the Mother's command:
they will shake your temple until there is no peace.

IX. Instruction to Temple Masters, Lecturers, and All Who Serve
To the temple masters, lecturers, and all who carry out the work of the Dao — I instruct you together.
Keep your hearts calm and your footing steady. Quiet your minds and listen to this writing. Ride the Dharma-boat together and sail to every shore. Rescue those with affinity — bring them out of the bitter sea. See the Dao accomplished with no "yours" or "mine." With utmost sincerity, care for your brothers and sisters. Understand everything that happens in the Buddha hall. Assist the Point-Transmitting Master and keep things clear. Treat everyone without resentment or ill will. With a fair heart and gentle spirit, set up the Buddha's house.
As a lecturer, when you speak the principles of the Dao, let your words and your practice be one. Do not flatter with empty phrases. Do not use force or lower your dignity. Do not play to the crowd to win their favor. Do not pad things out with filler. If you use falsehood, falsehood is returned to you. If you use truth, heaven returns it as truth. The Heavenly Dao has nearly finished its work — to fight and to grasp is utter foolishness.
Do you understand?
X. Warning to the Three Talents
I warn the Three Talents — the divine instruments of the Dao. The practice of spirit-writing is nearing its appointed end. Revere the Buddha, and the Buddha is there — there is a deep meaning in this. Scorn the immortals, and you play a dangerous game.
Your Mother established the planchette and the medium for a purpose — but this too has a limited time. I shall take back the wondrous mediums and the wondrous planchettes, one by one, and return to the plain and simple.
In the days to come, deviant gates and crooked paths will arise. The temples of the Dao will have their own Three Talents and planchettes again — each displaying supernatural arts and creating strange wonders, each with mediums and planchettes writing spirit-messages, claiming a Heavenly Mandate to carry out great deeds, claiming the Eternal Mother commanded them. A hundred flowers blooming, each raising its own banner — strange and chaotic, the mind grows confused.
My children, you must look carefully. Break through attachment to forms — that is the first thing. With wondrous wisdom, awaken to principle, guard the precepts. Hold filial devotion in your heart and never leave the Dao.
Do you understand?
Turn the light around and examine yourself. Correct yourself, complete others — accumulate true merit.

XI. The Heavenly Mandate and Final Counsel
The golden thread of the Heavenly Mandate — the Mother decrees. The Unity, the firewood flame — transmitted from generation to generation. Tianran and Huiming bear the true Heavenly Mandate. Yulin carries on the work by the command she received. All teachings brought to peace and gathered into one. The world refined into the Great Unity.
Do you understand?
The Heavenly Dao is clear — we have reached the final autumn. The road home is the road of awakening — cultivate by recognizing principle. The golden thread of the Dao lineage, Patriarch to Patriarch, is passed down. Do not seek the Heavenly Mandate from anyone else. Rising and falling — the gate sorts the worthy from the unworthy. Be careful. Be careful. Walk with care. The fruit is ripe and ready for the harvest — but still we fear the wind and rain, the cold sighing through.
Settle yourself. Your own life depends on your own salvation. Establish faith and wisdom — strive for the highest.
Do not believe those who claim to be Maitreya reborn.
Do not believe those who claim Ji Gong pilots the boat of mercy.
Do not believe that the Teacher Mother's surname is Liu.
Do not believe in hidden bundles or secret legacies.
Do not believe that a Dao-elder holds a Heavenly Mandate.
Do not believe that any leader holds the key.
Do not believe in secret transmissions or private bestowal.
Do not believe that Guanyin has come to ferry the lost.
Lock the monkey of the mind and chain the horse of thought. Let the rascals raise havoc across the continents — the Tathagata sits unmoved and watches the true self. Your deathless nature lives in your own heart.
Your own compassionate heart — that is Maitreya.
Your own great vow of mercy — that is Guanyin.
Your own fairness and righteousness — that makes you a monk.
Everything is mind. Seek it in your own heart.
Illuminate your virtue and love the people — cultivate kindness thick and deep. Only then can you dissolve disaster and clear your debts.
Do you understand?
XII. The Farewell
Today my children have come to the altar. Study carefully what your Mother has spoken. I bless the fruit upon the altar table and share it among you. My children — show your hearts. Quickly, quickly — fulfill your vows, be diligent in practice. Only then can you escape disaster and keep the peace.
Do you understand?
The instruction is written. Your Mother wishes to go. She would leave — but she cannot bear to leave. She goes, and yet she stays. Her tears fall, drop by drop, upon the sand-tray. Your Mother turns back. She turns back again.
Let your Mother hold your little hands.
Let your Mother stroke your children's heads.
My children, my children — after today's parting, cultivate well, cultivate truly — fulfill your calling and return home. The day your merit is complete and your fruit is full, at the Dragon-Flower Assembly you shall enjoy ten thousand autumns.
She turns back once more to look at her children. The weather has turned cold — put on warm clothes. Take care of yourselves at all times. Do not let your Mother worry for nothing.
My children, my children — do not weep. Your Mother cannot bear this parting. But there is nothing to be done — the planchette must stop. She leads the Buddha-children and returns to the Jade West.
Depart.
Commentator's Notes
The numbered annotations below were included in the published Chinese text and are the work of a Yiguandao commentator, not the Mother's own speech.
1. Throughout this text, the character for "Mother" (母) is written as a special spirit-writing form — the character 中 ("center") with two dots added — signifying the "Mother of Former Heaven" (先天母).
2. The exclamation rendered "Ha ha" uses a special spirit-writing character — the character 花 ("flower") with the mouth radical (口) added — unique to the planchette.
3. "This distant land" (巴郡) — in the original, the character 巴 has an additional mouth radical, a spirit-writing variant likely referring to Jakarta (or the broader Southeast Asian mission field).
4. Despite the tribulations of the final age, so many immortals and Buddhas care for all beings — "the immortals and the Dao are together."
5. In such a state, can these truly be called "original Buddha-children"?
6. The Mother's words from Three-Mountain Slope — do you remember, or have they grown dim? After so many cycles through the four births and six paths, so many roads traveled, the wheel of rebirth has left you dizzy.
7. You brought it upon yourselves, and you must bear it yourselves.
8. The Three Treasures must never leave the heart — that is what makes the Dao true. The Mysterious Pass (玄關) receives the pointing — it is "awakening" (覺). Your self-nature lives in your own heart; turn the light around and never stray from the Dao. The Oral Formula (口訣) is "correctness" (正) — recite it at all times to keep your intentions sincere and your heart upright. The Combined Mudra (合同) is "purity" (淨) — the six sense-roots clean and undefiled, knowledge and action united, inside and outside one, above and below sharing the same heart and the same virtue.
9. The Mother lists thirty-two admonishments beginning with "I want my children to..." — these are the direction for cultivating the Dao today. Study them carefully, reflect on them often, and ask yourself: am I following them?
10. Though they call themselves cultivators, they have not yet awakened to the Dao — they still carry the form of ordinary beings.
11. Within the Dao there are ten great demons. Therefore one must not practice a "Dao of human feelings" — one must recognize principle in order to return to truth. Likewise, in the mortal world, ten great demons have descended. The first five have already appeared; the last five, which will shake the Central Kingdom, will follow in succession.
12. This is the reason for honoring the Master and revering the Dao.
13. The chaos of false masters and false patriarchs disrupting the lineage — this is the test of wisdom.
14. Do not think that simply finding a false master or false patriarch means the work is done. You must still cultivate truly, inside and out. Do not give rise to greed or delusion — one step astray and the whole game is lost. Do not mistakenly believe your good fortune exceeds others'. The moment greed and delusion arise, the asura enters the gap. Without deep roots and great wisdom, the true and the false are nearly impossible to tell apart — "a hair's difference, a thousand miles astray."
15. You left the world's fame and profit behind to enter cultivation — and now you are entranced by fame and profit within the Dao? The "downstream test" is the easiest to fail.
16. Compare this to the Diamond Sutra: "Let the mind arise without dwelling anywhere" (Section 10); "All worthy sages are distinguished by the unconditioned Dharma" (Section 7). And the Dao De Jing: "Gives birth but does not possess; acts but does not rely; succeeds but does not dwell — and because it does not dwell, it does not depart" (Chapter 2). Take this as your standard. Anything else is far from the Dao.
17. "The Teacher Mother's surname is Liu" — this of course does not refer to the original Teacher Mother (劉師母).
18. "Hidden bundles," "secret transmissions," "private bestowal," "claims that such-and-such immortal has been reborn" — all these outward signs must not be clung to, need not be clung to, should not be clung to.
19. The fifth of the Imperial Mother's Ten Precepts says: "The heavenly cycle has turned to the final three autumns / Three disasters and eight trials flood the land / Who can escape the ninety-nine calamities? / Salvation lies only in the one boat of Unity." And: "A thousand roads, ten thousand roads — not a single road of life / The only road of life — seek the Heavenly Dao at once." In the final age, the only way to escape disaster and enter the Dragon-Flower Assembly is through the Heavenly Dao — by the grace of Heaven and the virtue of the Master. And the true host of the Dragon-Flower Assembly is Maitreya Buddha. This must be understood.
20. The loving Mother, at the moment of parting, still cannot bear to leave.
21. The great Dragon-Flower Assembly of heaven, earth, and humanity is not far away.
22. Her children are still her children.
Commentator's conclusion: In this Holy Instruction, the Imperial Mother first explains why catastrophe has descended upon the dusty world — because her original Buddha-children came to govern all things and lost their true form. She then describes the heart-seal of the Three Treasures and gives her children thirty-two admonishments as a direction to follow. She warns against clinging to appearances, reminds them of the toil the elders endured to establish the temples, explains that the disorder in the Dao arises from not following the Buddha Rules, and says this is a great test and selection. She instructs the leaders, Point-Transmitting Masters, temple masters, lecturers, all who serve, and the Three Talents in what they must observe. Finally, she counsels them to cultivate by recognizing principle, not to believe rumors, to seek everything in the heart, and to illuminate virtue and love the people. The whole text is precise and complete, addressing the spiritual ailments of today's cultivators. The Mother's heart is urgent and earnest. I hope all fellow cultivators will read it again and again, study it carefully, turn the light around upon themselves, and cultivate with vigor — so as not to fail the Imperial Mother's devoted heart, nor the hopes of all the immortals, Buddhas, and divine saints of heaven. Let us encourage one another.

The Holy Instruction of the Imperial Mother (皇母聖訓) was received through spirit-writing at the Fazheng Altar (法正壇) in Jakarta, Indonesia, during the Winter Grand Ceremony, 1994 CE (甲戍年十一月十五日). The spirit-writing records the Eternal Mother (無極老母 / 明明上帝) speaking to her children through a celestial court of fourteen escort groups — from the Buddhas and bodhisattvas to the Four Heavenly Kings to the Five Teaching Founders (including Christ and Muhammad) to Zhang Tianran (Tianran Ancient Buddha) himself.
The text belongs to the morality book (善書, shanshū) tradition, in which free distribution of spiritual literature is itself considered an act of merit.
First English translation. Translated from Chinese for the Good Work Library by the New Tianmu Anglican Church, 2026. Gospel register. Translator: Tulku Ming (明), Yiguandao Translator. The English is independently derived from the Chinese source text. The existing Yiguandao translations in the archive (particularly The Luminous Lord's Holy Training and the Letter from the Homeland) were consulted for terminology consistency.
