Time and again, O Agni, thou mighty bull, thou drawest all things together from the stranger's hand.

Thou art kindled where refreshment hath passed— bring thou goodly gifts to us in this place.

Come ye together; speak ye as one;
let your thoughts be joined in one accord.
As did the gods in days of old, who came to one mind,
and in reverence drew near unto their share of the offering.

One is their sacred word, one their gathering, one their thought and the sight of their hearts.

I speak now a word held in common for you all; and with a shared gift, I make offering on your behalf.

Let your aim be as one; let your hearts be as one.
Let your mind be as one mind—
that your way together be full of good.

Time and again Agni was called, the mighty bull of fire, the one who draws all things together, even from the hands of strangers. Where the feast has passed, where the mead-jar has been emptied and the meat shared out, there the fire rises, and there men look for good gifts. Men were told to come together, to speak as one, to join their thoughts in accord, just as the gods did long ago when they laid aside strife and set their minds to a single purpose, drawing near the altar to claim their share. One word was among them, one gathering, one thought, and their hearts saw with the same sight. Now the word is spoken for all, the gift given on behalf of all, and the teaching is this: let your aim be one, let your hearts be one, let your mind be as one mind, so that the road you walk together may be strong and filled with good.
