Good Works Translation from Thai

This is the thirty-fourth สมุดไทย unit of the Rama I Ramakien as published by the Vajirayana Digital Library. It gives Hanuman's killing of the sea-ogress guarding the ocean, his arrival at Phra Narot's hermitage, the comic contest of magic between Hanuman and the sage, Hanuman's battle with Lanka's city-guardian demon, his secret entry into Thotsakan's palace, his first mistaken search for Sida, his discovery of Sida in the garden, and his hidden witness of Thotsakan's failed attempt to win her.

Translation

Hanuman Kills the Sea-Ogress

Now the story turns to the yaksha woman Phisuea. Her body was huge and corpulent, a coarse and base asura woman. Her white tusks curved long up to her eyes; her power and strength were bold. Thotsakan, king of demons, had set her as a guard in the great sea so no royal enemy could cross the vast waters. She rose from the depths and roamed on patrol through the river-sea.

She glanced left and right and saw a monkey traveling through the air. She grew furious and enraged, her eyes red like the light of the age-ending fire. In one hand she brandished a mace, displaying fierce power and brave strength. She leapt from the waters and rushed to attack the monkey.

Then mighty Hanuman, wise in war, saw the powerful Phisuea woman rise from the ocean to make war. He drew the diamond trident out from his body, and the son of Phra Phai met the yaksha woman's power. They pressed and struck in combat, each fleeing and each pursuing by turns.

Then brave-hearted Phisuea Samut brandished her club in confusion, swinging left and right in turmoil. Each struggled and fought, striking, cutting, and stabbing in a tangle. Strength met strength in battle, and each attacked in turn without leaving off.

Then the strong and powerful son of the Wind parried and fought close, pressing in to strike. They grappled and rolled in tumult, shaking the four seas. Waves swelled and splashed through the waters, and the noise thundered through all three worlds.

Then brave Phisuea opened her mouth, huge and vast, her two eyes like the light of fiery doom. She meant to bite the lord of monkeys and swallow him as food. She leapt and sprang from the waters, chasing him and pressing the fight.

Then mighty Hanuman, great commander, displayed his power with a leap and went into the asura's mouth.

Swift as a spinning discus, he came out from her right ear, then by his power entered again through the left ear and descended into the asura's belly. He used the diamond trident to slash and cut open the yaksha woman's abdomen, making many holes through the navel, and the monkey dragged out her entrails.

Then he struck and hacked again, cutting off both arms and both feet, and threw them as food for the fish. The asura's life was ended.

When he had finished killing Phisuea Samut, he displayed fierce and brave power, brandished the diamond trident like the fire of doom, and quickly flew across the waters.

He streamed through the air with the rushing wind and came down at Solot, the great mountain. He had passed beyond Lanka city, thinking it was Nila Khiri.

Then he saw the roof of the hermitage of Phra Narot, supreme sage. He was glad and delighted, and the monkey lord came straight down.

When he reached the sandy rise beside the sea, he stopped at a dense-leafed thicket, raised his hands, recited powerful Veda, and transformed his monkey body.

At once he became a small monkey, tiny, bright, and white, like a forest monkey of the woods. Then he walked in.

When he came near the hermitage hall, the gracious son of the Wind crouched and bowed from afar, paying homage to the great sage.

Then Phra Narot the sage saw the monkey come with joined hands and asked: "Hey, lord monkey, what place is your home? What is your name? Why have you come to me, monkey?"

Then mighty Hanuman, wise in war, heard him, raised joined fingers, joined his hands, and spoke graceful words: "I have no famous name. I wander in the forest. I heard people say that Lanka city is vast and full of delight, pleasing to the heart, and I wanted to see the royal market and residence. I do not know where the demon city is. Revered teacher, have mercy."

Then the great sage Phra Narot heard the monkey's speech and answered: "What is the matter with you? You do not know where the victorious demon city is, yet you wander astray and come asking for Lanka, city of demons. There, Nilakala mountain stands in the middle of the broad city, so high that it seems equal to the rim of the universe. It appears towering on the southwest side."

Then victorious Hanuman heard the great sage and was filled with gladness. He said: "Teacher, please graciously pardon me. I have wandered lost until the sun is sinking. I am hungry, weary, and weak. I ask to stay here first. When the dawn's rays come, this monkey will bow and take his leave."

Then great teacher Narot thought that he was a forest monkey and answered with pity: "If you will stay with me, so be it, splendid monkey." Having spoken, he raised his hand and pointed out the hall to the monkey.

Then mighty Hanuman, wise in war, bowed his head in reverent homage and hurried to the hall.

Narot Tests Hanuman

His suspicion multiplied. "Why does this forest sage live on the island of Lanka among the yakshas? Does he possess learning and magical science? How brave and skilled is he? Better that I test his power and see the teacher's strength." Having thought this, he honored the lord of the three worlds, closed his eyes, gathered his spirit, and recited a spell to transform his body.

By the power of the magic of Phra Swayambhu, lord of lords, his body grew huge and filled the hall. He called the holy sage in confusion: "This place is too small for me to sleep in. How can I stretch my feet and arms? I am not happy or at ease. Why is it like this, sage?"

Then Phra Narot the sage heard the monkey speak and reflected: "This one is small, tiny, a forest monkey by birth. Why does he say the hall is smaller than his body? Better that I go look and see what this meddler is doing." Having thought this, he walked out from his forest hut.

He saw the body grown vast and great, and understood that it was a monkey trick. He recited powerful Veda and transformed the hall.

At once the hall became many rooms. He cried out: "Hey, forest monkey, you are full of tricks and deceit, deliberately coming to trouble me. Look now. This hall is wide, long, and spacious. Crawl in and sleep happily, beast-born one, and do not bother me."

Then the gracious son of the Wind saw the hall grow large by the sage's power. He smiled and thought: "I will exhaust the hermit's power." He raised his hands with reverent fingers, and the monkey lord recited his knowledge.

His body grew as large as great Brahma by his bold power. He cried out into the hall: "Is this the ascetic's hall? You said it was great and broad, but it cannot even hold one of my arms. My knees and legs must bend crookedly. The hermit has no pity."

Then the teacher, strong in meditation, kept transforming the hall, making it wider and longer than before each time. However large it grew by his power, the monkey's body grew still larger than the place. He said: "Look at this monkey. He is foul, cunning beyond measure. This creature has come meddling, perhaps to test me, the old hermit. I must punish him until my heart is satisfied, so this wretch may see my power." Having thought this, the teacher entered meditation, collected his mind, and made the water kasina his sign by the ascetic power of the holy sage.

He caused darkness to cover the sky, roaring in every direction, and rain came falling down, striking the monkey's body.

Then mighty Hanuman, wise in war, was struck by the rain. He endured the cold, shivering; his arms and whole body went numb. His transformed form changed back and became his monkey body again. Out of ideas, seeing the sage's power, unable to bear the pain, he cried: "Look, righteous ascetic. The cold is more than I can endure. Every hair is chilled. Have mercy, and do not torment me."

Then wise and brave Phra Narot saw the monkey defeated by meditation-power, shivering and crying loudly. He said: "Look, forest monkey, vile, base, rough creature. You deliberately came to test my power. Why are you crying in confusion now? Hey, ugly and unlucky one, go warm yourself by the fire and be healed. Evil beast-born creature, do you still have shame, fool?"

Then the strong and brave son of the Wind heard the great holy man and gladly climbed down from the hall.

When he arrived, he sat warming himself by the fire, heating the whole monkey body. His shivering, chilled body became comfortable when it met the fire's warmth. He thought: "This holy ascetic's practice, power, and knowledge are brave. He is quick in the realm of meditation." Having thought this, he went back to the hall.

He leaned his body down, stretched his feet and arms, and slept in supreme comfort. The wind blew against his body, and, being tired, he fell into deep sleep.

Then great teacher Narot saw the wise, quick monkey fallen asleep with no awareness. He thought: "This one is a meddler. He came to test my hermit-power. Today I will look at his strength and satisfy the monkey's heart. If he is good, he can undo it; if not, he will be more ashamed than before." Having thought this, he seized his staff and walked out from the hall.

He reached the lotus pool and stood above it on a stone slab. He recited magical Veda, meditated, and consecrated the staff.

When he had finished, he threw it into the pool. It turned into a great leech. He commanded it: "If the wretched monkey comes to drink water in this pool, leech, cling to his chin. Do not let go of the splendid monkey." Having spoken, he walked back to the hall.

Then the strong and brave son of the Wind, when golden light brightened the clouds and birds cried out through the forest, and bees and bumblebees flew while the cuckoo sang clearly, opened his eyes, left the hall, and walked to the pool.

When he arrived, he rinsed his mouth, washed his face, and bathed his splendid monkey body, rubbing and cleansing himself all over in the water of the pool.

Then the fierce staff-leech of the great teacher swam, lunged, and fastened onto the monkey's chin.

Then mighty Hanuman, wise in war, startled and sprang with power. With both hands he pulled and shook it. Loathing it, he shut his eyes and tugged, but the leech would not come loose. The more he dragged and yanked it, the longer it grew each time. Out of knowledge, power, and strength, beyond all the splendid monkey's skill, he ran while calling to the sage until he reached the leaf-hall.

He bowed down at the sage's lotus feet: "Teacher, graciously favor me. Please free me from this pain and pull off the leech now."

Then great sage Phra Narot smiled and spoke, pointing at his face: "Hey, common one, why do you not display your power? Why come begging me, beast? A little leech no wider than a strap is stuck to you, and you cry in noisy confusion without shame. Tonight you did nothing but disturb me, so I could not recite even for a moment." Having spoken, he stretched out his hand and took the staff from the monkey.

Then mighty Hanuman, wise in war, saw that the fierce leech had changed back into a staff by the holy sage's power. His hair bristled in awe. He bowed at the sage's two feet, praised his works and knowledge, and begged pardon of the sage: "You who possess ascetic knowledge, please forgive this splendid monkey. Remain and prosper in peace. I will take my leave." Having spoken, he displayed power until earth and sky trembled, flew swiftly upward, and went straight toward Nilakala.

Hanuman Enters Lanka

Then the city-guardian demon of Lanka, eight-armed and four-faced, stood in the middle of Lanka city. One hand held a spinning discus, the second held a splendid victorious sword, the third held a trident, the fourth held a mace, the fifth brandished a halberd, the sixth held a radiant arrow, the seventh held a javelin, and the eighth held a shining iron hammer. Seeing the monkey fly toward the demon city, he grew angry as if thunder rolled through the sky. Meaning to stare him down and kill him, he displayed his body and flew up into the clouds.

He floated in the middle of the air, used his power to block the way, and shouted in words: "Hey, forest monkey, you are a beast by birth. Proudly and boldly, where are you going? What is your lineage, race, name, and title, that you dare fly across the city? Do you not know this is a demon city? You will become my food. I am the guardian of Lanka city, and I will kill you."

Then the strong and powerful son of Phra Phai heard the giant's words, ground his teeth, and burned with anger like the fire of doom. He cried out: "Hey, ugly one, do not boast of bravery. My name is Hanuman, grandson of King Pali. Whether you are the city-guardian or a bold warrior, you will face radiant Death. Even the ten-headed asura's power does not frighten me."

Then the giant city-guardian heard the monkey's arrogance and angrily ground his tusks and teeth. He cried: "Hey, monkey-born one, you come proudly boasting of power in delusion. Your body is tiny as a fly. How could you tire an asura's hand?" As he spoke, he brandished his weapons, displayed fierce yaksha power, leapt, sprang, and rushed in to fight the monkey lord.

Then mighty Hanuman, wise in war, met and blocked him in combat, swinging his powerful trident in battle. They grappled and rolled through the clouds. Each was brave, bold, and strong. Each stabbed, struck, and cut; each pressed into battle.

Then the demon city-guardian charged and fought in close, the asura never lowering his hand. Weapons flew in confusion. The two fierce warriors, skilled in battle, each withdrew and pursued in the sky, fighting close together.

Then the strong and mighty son of the Wind sprang up, planted his foot on the demon's knee, and clawed the asura's head. Seeing his chance, he swung the trident and struck. The yaksha's head was cut from his body. Hanuman threw it into the ocean river, and the guardian's life ended by his power.

When he had finished killing the giant, the sun's splendid light was just sinking. At evening twilight he was glad and flew inward.

He glanced and saw a palace, blazing, shining, and high, with five splendid spires. He came down to the surface of the earth.

He saw groups of asura troops in confusion, checking and guarding each side, sitting on watch by the fires at every gate. He recited Veda and transformed his body.

By the power of the shining spell, his form changed into a yaksha. When this was done, he slipped in among the asura troops.

When he reached the front royal court and was out of sight of the yaksha soldiers, the monkey lord recited powerful Veda and cast a sleeping spell.

Then Thotsakan the yaksha lay sleeping on his ornate couch with lovely Montho. All the asura kin, the women, the troops, and the army were struck by the powerful Hanuman's spell. They became drowsy, nodded, and stumbled. They fell leaning and sprawled against one another in confusion, unable to feel their bodies. The whole inner palace became silent, without awareness or sense.

Then Hanuman, wise and victorious, having finished casting the sleep-spell over the asuras, changed his body back into monkey form. He stood on the terrace, bold as a mighty lion, holding the powerful diamond trident in his hand, and walked up into the shining palace.

He saw one asura sleeping with a pencil held firmly in his hand, and an account-board and slate lying beside the sleeping giant. He stood and examined him, and knew he was the demon astrologer. Seeing the second beautiful palace, he opened the door and went up.

He saw one asura there, huge and corpulent, lying asleep, with a shining jeweled mace placed beside the splendid couch. The attendant women guarding him were beautiful as heavenly nymphs, sleeping, muttering, groaning, and grinding their teeth, their bodies out of sense. Then he saw the third palace, bright with gems of many colors, and went up into the asura residence, entering the bedchamber.

He saw a young asura of handsome form, his face dark green as if painted. A woman lay against his chest, her face like the moon. They slept on a jeweled couch, and at the side a bow and radiant arrow were set down. He seemed to possess great power. Hanuman looked as he walked down.

Then he saw the fourth palace, radiant and shining like moonlight. He went up to the victorious celestial mansion and entered the jeweled chamber.

He saw one asura sleeping, with twenty arms and ten fierce faces, and knew that it was Thotsakan. A woman lay sleeping beside him. She was bright and beautiful in form, her face shining like a celestial nymph. The palace women were like stars surrounding the moon. Looking before he had examined her carefully, he thought she was shining Sida. Anger burned like blazing fire, and he meant to kill her. He ground his teeth and stamped his foot: "Look at this, Sida, lovely one. Phra Hariwong grieves and grieves as if his life will end. Is it fitting that you should share love with this ten-faced one? You are not faithful to the lord of earth. Why leave you to burden the land? I will cut off your head and take it as an offering to the bow-bearing Phra Narai." Thinking this, he swung the powerful trident, and the monkey leapt forward.

He drew back his arm to strike and kill her, but when he came near her body and saw her face, he knew she was beautiful Montho and not Queen Sida. His anger, which had burned against the queen, softened and disappeared. He came down from the asura palace, and the monkey lord searched through the whole inner palace.

In every chamber and yaksha residence, he saw nothing remarkable. At the end of thought, with his mind at a loss, he flew to the forest mountain.

When he reached the hermitage, he bowed and told the ascetic what had happened: "I went to see the glory of Thotsakan, lord of Lanka. It was delightful, as if I had seen heaven in the Davadingsa realm. But one thing people have said is that the asura king went roaming in the forest and obtained Lady Sida, lovely and world-delighting, with no woman to compare to her. I would like to see her body, to admire her form and beauty, and to know how young Sida loves the demon lord. Great holy one, have you ever gone there or not? Where has Thotsakan placed the dear lady, sage?"

Then the great sage Phra Narot heard and answered: "Look, battle-wise monkey. Though I live on the demon island, I do not associate with the foolish unrighteous ones. But I know that lovely Sida is the wife of Phra Rama. Thotsakan stole her and keeps her in the demon garden. The lady has no delight or joy; she reproaches and abuses him in every way. You are only a monkey wandering in the forest. I am puzzled beyond measure. Why do you ask for the noble lady?"

Then the gracious son of the Wind heard him and all doubt left his mind. He bowed and told the matter: "My name is Hanuman. I am a soldier of Phra Narai the lord. Now His Majesty has assembled the monkey armies of Khitkhin and Chomphu at Khanthamat mountain. When all is ready, he will raise the army to fight and destroy the asuras. He commanded your servant to come hear news about the queen, to know whether she is living well or badly. Now I will bow and take leave."

Then the great ascetic, strong in vow, understood that a soldier of Phra Chakra had come to seek news of lovely Sida. He was deeply glad. "Now deluded Thotsakan and all the unrighteous asuras will perish by Phra Chakri's arrows." Having thought this, he spoke graceful words: "Look, Hanuman, splendid monkey. Go in peace. May no stain or harm oppress you."

Then the strong and brave son of the Wind bowed his head, received the holy sage's blessing, took leave with joined hands, and quickly flew away.

He floated over the asura garden and saw troops and soldiers, great and small, holding spears, swords, and firearms, surrounding it in rings inside and out. They counted people as they came and went, strict and careful. Within the inner layer, a thousand ladies-in-waiting guarded the noble woman. "If I go down now, the patrolling yakshas will surely see me and come out to fight. How will I meet the noble lady? It would cause a great battle." Having thought this, he flew onward and came down beyond the flower garden.

He stood hidden beside a great banyan tree and watched the demon troop. Then, with joined hands, he recited powerful Veda, and the monkey lord transformed his body.

His form changed into a little monkey, as tiny as a forest monkey. He spun and darted across the road, sprang up into a tree, and climbed on.

He saw a shining pavilion beneath the shade of a great ashoka tree, whose close leaves shut out the dawn-light. The trees were clean and pleasing to the eye, putting forth flowers and fruit, ripe and unripe, growing in orderly rows to left and right. Looking into the golden pavilion, he saw one beautiful and lovely lady, slender and delicate in form, her face sorrowful and grieving. He knew it was moon-like Sida, certainly as the teacher had said. He was glad that his thought had been fulfilled; but when he looked at her, he pitied her. "Better that I hide from the demons until night-time. Then I will wait and slip down to attend the noble queen." Having thought this, he raised his hands in homage and recited a spell to hide himself from sight.

Thotsakan Pleads With Sida

[Slow]

Then, on Thotsakan the yaksha's side, from the time he had placed Lady Sida in the garden, love had besieged and bound his mind. He longed to share love with the pitiful one. Hot desire burned like the fire of doom, and the demon king's heart was restless and disturbed. Lovely Montho, with whom he had enjoyed love before, and all the heavenly women of the inner palace, no longer mattered to him.

When evening came and the sun's color faded, while moonlight filled the sky, he moved with graceful steps and came out before the lion-window throne.

He saw the moon with its halo, free of cloud, clear and shining. Thinking of beautiful Sida's form, longing bound his heart still more. He was filled with yearning, restless and lovesick, almost dying from the taste of desire in his heart. "Better that I go receive the lovely one and make her chief queen, exalted above all the palace women, sharing the jeweled white parasol."

Having thought this, he called the chief elder women and the ladies to left and right: "Go out and order the commanders that I will go to the garden."

Then the wise and brave elder women received the command of the demon king, bowed their heads in homage, and went out.

When they arrived, they spoke and ordered the great senior commanders: "Now the lord of the three realms commands you to prepare the strong armies. He will proceed in royal procession to the splendid garden tonight. Be ready according to the royal command."

Then Paowanasun the yaksha learned the words of the asura women and went out to arrange the giant troops.

At the front line were five kotis of soldiers carrying jeweled lamps shining bright. They held spears, turning and standing firm, and wore splendid hammered armor. Next came four kotis of asuras with golden torches bright and radiant; they wore noble jeweled armor and held javelins in their hands as they moved. Next came three kotis of demon troops with silver torches shining bright; they wore glittering dark-blue armor, all holding golden-tipped weapons. In the rear procession were four kotis of troops holding blazing torches in confusion. Charioteers yoked chariots in turmoil, crowding close as they waited for the asura lord.

Then the ten-headed yaksha of the solar line walked in graceful movement to enter the bathing place by the sea.

They opened jeweled ruby channels, sweet with the fragrance of pollen. He bathed in scented water, diffusing fragrance, and put on ornate lower garments with curved hems. Then he wore a purple cloth, pierced with round gold netting; its fluttering end was set with coral gems, and the side-cloth flashed with patterned jewels. He put on a light upper garment, strung three necklaces and shoulder-chains, a breast-ornament, a ruby chest-plate, and gold armlets shaped as curling makara. Yellow diamond-set rings shone on every finger of his hands. He wore a jeweled crown with flowers set upon it, and bright earrings by his ears. Golden flower garlands hung from him, and his right hand held a radiant bow. Beautiful as mighty Brahma, he walked and climbed into the royal chariot.

O royal chariot, jeweled royal chariot, gleaming with delicate patterns, tall in form. Its curved yoke was soft and graceful, its wheel-hubs splendid and bright to the eye. The charioteer drove the royal lions quickly, unfurling the troops to left and right. Lines of lamps shone thickly in front and behind, pressing close around it in confusion. Candlelight struck and lit the road; the jeweled wheel-rims flashed through the air. Gongs and answering cries sounded loudly; trumpets and curved horns led the procession. Banners and rows of flags reached to the end of the troop-line. Lanterns and golden torches shone in rows. Pairs of escort soldiers moved beside the chariot with joined hands, hurrying the fourfold host onward.

When he reached the jeweled mounting-block, he descended from the royal chariot. Stretching out his hands with graceful gesture, he went to the pavilion of the queenly lady.

He lowered himself onto a golden throne, a separate seat near the lovely lady. Smiling, he spoke: "Lady elder of my life, my longing love for you is so great that my life is nearly ended. As for Phra Rama, your husband, he is poor, wandering through the forest with hardship. Those two brothers are like outcastes, with no possessions or wealth. They are not fit to be joined in delight with your body. That day he went after the golden deer, and the cry rang through the forest. How would he have escaped with his life? That evil deer surely killed him and destroyed him. Quell and end your grief. It is not fitting to burn in sorrow. Please, young jewel of my heart, enter the sandalwood palace, furnished with sovereign wealth like great Sudassana, city of heaven. With the palace women and attendants, eighty-four thousand noble women, I will raise you as queen beside the shining white parasol, greater than all the women of the retinue. Young lady, show mercy."

Then beautiful Lady Sida, beloved one, heard the ten-headed asura, and the lady was troubled and angry. It was as if an enemy-arrow pierced her ears. Unable to restrain her resentment, she drove a stick into the ground and cursed him: "You wretched, unlucky stick, why do you come and insult the bow-bearing lord, radiant crest of the world? He is the lord who rests on Vasuki's seat, the king incarnated to destroy the yakshas and end the lineage of vile ones who oppress the realm of the world. As for you, ugly one, your ten heads and ten faces will fly away. On the day you stole me, you survived only because you fled quickly. Had you delayed, you would have perished beneath the victorious arrows of Phra Chakra."

Then Thotsakan, ten-headed yaksha of the solar line, heard Lady Sida's words, allusion, and abuse without softness. He desired the sound of her voice even more, for its sweetness had no equal. The more he listened, the more he was delighted in form, taste, and speech. He bowed down and spoke gracefully: "Beautiful one, beloved who increases my love, throughout all three worlds and the earth no one compares with you. Even if you insult and curse me, I do not hold those words against you. Only have mercy in the way of love, and do not break off affection. You are like the divine montha flower, not found in all the sixteen heavens. I love you as my very heart and will care for you so that no stain touches you. Mother, do not reject and cut off love. Noble lady, help lift up my life. Show some mercy, queen, and be my lasting good fortune."

Then fair Lady Sida, beloved lady, was wounded by the words of the twenty-armed king. She turned her face away and would not look at him. Then she spat down and said: "Hey, false demon-stick, do not speak, beg, compose, or plead. I am mother of the gods and guardians; the three worlds bow at my splendid feet. I am not a vile and unlucky woman who would delight in a base creature. Even if I die, I will leave honor made known in every direction. Do not insult the Avatara. Before long your life will end."

Then Hanuman, wise and victorious, hidden in the tree and watching the asura, grew angry and enraged. His eyes were red like the light of the age-ending fire, and his hand itched to kill him. But he feared going beyond the command of four-handed Phra Chakra. Having heard the words of the asura and beloved Phra Lakshmi, he understood that the noble lady had no longing or love for the giant.

Then the ten-headed one of the solar line saw lovely Lady Sida turn away and curse him without care. He was out of knowledge, out of thought and wisdom, out of pleading and words to the lovely one. At a loss, he said: "Lady elder, remain in peace. I ask leave of you, beautiful young one, to return first to the palace." Speaking this, he looked at the beloved lady's face, sighed, and walked away.

He saw the asura women who were guarding her, stamped his feet, and thundered in a voice like the sky splitting: "Hey, you asura women, I ordered you to guard the queen. Why have you not pleaded with her and softened her into happiness? If later it is like this again, I will destroy your lives." Speaking this, he mounted his royal chariot with the fourfold troops and brave soldiers, left the jeweled garden, and returned to the giant's royal palace.
