This is the sixty-fifth สมุดไทย unit of the Rama I Ramakien as published by the Vajirayana Digital Library. It gives Phiphek discovering Trimekha's hiding place, Hanuman forcing King Kala Naga to reveal the grain of sand in the ocean, Hanuman killing Trimekha and bringing his head to Rama, Thotsakan grieving for Satlung and Trimekha, Montho urging peace, Thotsakan beginning the underground Kala Kich rite at Nilakala mountain, Phiphek warning Rama, and Sukhrip, Nilnon, and Hanuman breaking the rite through Benchakai's help and the provocation of Montho.

Translation

Hanuman Kills Trimekha and Breaks Thotsakan's Rite

Then the lord of the three worlds, surpassing all worlds, saw King Satlung dead and Trimekha vanish before his eyes. His mind was amazed and puzzled by the yaksha's trick and stratagem, and he gave royal command, asking King Phiphek: "That yaksha Trimekha, where has he disappeared? The more I think, the more I wonder. Why has it happened this way?"

Then King Phiphek the yaksha heard Phra Chakri's words and took the triple-eyed omen.

When he understood, he bowed his head and reported to the king, lord and crown of the world: "Trimekha the asura, arrogant, raised his army out to fight until his fourfold forces were destroyed. Now he fears Your Majesty's arrow. He has fled the four-armed lord and hidden in Badan. Let brave Hanuman, the son of Vayu, whose fierce power is strong, follow down, kill him, end his breath, and bring up the demon lord's head."

Then Phra Narai, lord of the Solar Line, heard Phiphek the astrologer, and the sky-ruling lord spoke: "Listen, brave son of Vayu, you whose fierce power shines. Follow and destroy the life of Trimekha the asura in Badan."

Then the wise and brave son of the Wind received the command of the incarnate lord, offered homage, and crawled out.

The monkey lord displayed power. His roar thundered in every direction. Brandishing the mighty diamond trident, he pushed through the earth and went down.

When he reached the realm of Badan, delightful, splendid, and vast like a city of gods in heaven, he entered the shining throne hall.

He saw the naga king seated on a jeweled throne amid the naga ministers. The monkey lord spoke: "Listen, king of serpents, you who bear power and fierce poison. Trimekha the asura raised his army to seek victory. Now, defeated by the power of the four-armed lord, he has fled the arrow and come down here. Where is he? I am the king's soldier, named Hanuman. He has commanded me to follow the yaksha and destroy him utterly. You are lord in Badan. Do not keep company with vile fools, or you will drag your lineage and clan to death by the arrow of Phra Narai, bearer of the discus. Tell me where the yaksha lord is. Do not delay and make this slow."

Then glorious King Kala Naga understood that a soldier of Phra Chakri had come looking for Trimekha the asura. If he told the truth openly, he feared it would become enmity later. If he denied that Trimekha had come, he feared the feet of Phra Chakri. "I must speak in the middle way, neither telling nor hiding from the noble monkey." Having thought this, he answered: "The asura is not in our city. Wherever he has gone, I have not seen. He hides his body in his own fashion. Search all of Vejayanta if you wish. I do not join with the wicked."

Then the brave and mighty son of Vayu heard the naga king's words, speaking in a covered and double way. He said: "You are a king, born in the created naga Solar Line. Is it right that you do not stand in dharma, but divide your speech with deceit? You have kept an unrighteous one as friend and plan to protect his escape, without fearing Phra Chakri's rank. I will kill you and end your life." Speaking so, he bound the naga with his tail, fastening him tightly so he could not move. "Hurry and tell the truth. If not, your life will not survive."

Then the renowned naga king ached and suffered through his whole body, as if he would lose his life. Unable to bear it, he cried out and begged forgiveness: "Do not be angry with me, noble monkey. Trimekha the asura did come down here, but then he went back. Now the yaksha has hidden his body in a grain of sand on the floor of the great ocean, at the bright jeweled beach near Mount Chakkrawan."

Then brave Hanuman, the mighty soldier, understood the naga's words, which told everything truthfully. He rejoiced, loosened his tail, and released the binding. Displaying fierce power, he came up from beneath Badan.

He hurried through the air like brave Garuda, king of birds. Reaching the shining jeweled beach near Mount Chakkrawan, the noble monkey examined the ocean with mature wisdom. He saw bubbles rising many times, just as the naga's words had said. "Trimekha is surely here. I will go down and seize the yaksha." Having thought this, he recited powerful spells and transformed his monkey body.

He became as great as supreme Brahma, as high as the Chakkrawan mountain, and stretched his hand down into the ocean, curving it to seize the asura.

Then powerful Trimekha the yaksha felt the grain of sand shake through his body and was startled in fear. Knowing the enemy had followed him, his fear would not let him remain. He quickly came out of the grain of sand and rose from the water.

He saw brave Hanuman standing high and looming over the sky. Furious, he swung his club and leapt in to contend in power with the monkey.

Then brave Vayu's son, skilled in war, saw the yaksha rushing to fight him. His hand drew the diamond trident from his body. He brandished it and displayed power, its radiance like a bolt from heaven. Standing above the sandbank, the son of Vayu fought hand to hand.

Then powerful Trimekha the yaksha fought and pressed the attack, chasing and charging.

He struck left and swept right in tumult by the force of fierce strength. The blows struck mighty Hanuman's body and made him reel and stagger.

Then brave Vayu's son, the great soldier, grew angry, his eyes red like fire. He steadied himself and leapt in.

He sprang up, stepped on the yaksha's knee, bent his head back, wheeled and shifted posture, stabbed with the mighty diamond trident, and seized the asura's mace.

Then the son of the three-headed yaksha had no weapon left with which to fight. Angry as the fire at the end of an age, the asura stamped his foot and roared like thunder, displaying brave strength. The demon lord ran, leapt, bounded, and tore up a tree.

He shouldered it, kicked, pulled with his hands, and dragged up the roots, which could not resist his strength. Brandishing it, displaying fierce power, he chased and attacked the monkey.

Then brave Hanuman, skilled in war, received and guarded against him, fighting the asura hand to hand.

He seized the tree from the demon lord, rushed in, kicked left and struck right. Trimekha could not withstand his power and fell sprawling onto the sandbank. Hanuman leapt up, stepped on his chest, gripped his hair, displayed power, and swung the shining trident. He cut the head flying from the body, and the yaksha's life ended.

When he had finished killing the asura, the monkey lord lifted the yaksha's head and flew through the sky by power, coming straight to attend Phra Chakri.

When he arrived, he bowed at the lotus feet of Lord Phra Narai, presented Trimekha the asura's head, and reported every matter.

Then wise and brave Phra Chakri looked and saw the demon lord's head. The sky-ruling lord rejoiced that his thought had been fulfilled. His face shone like the moon, as if he had gained the heights of Dusit. He spoke to the son of the Sun, to Phiphek the asura priest, to all eighteen crowned monkey lords, and to the monkey ministers gathered before him: "This powerful son of Vayu has power surpassing the three worlds. If one seeks divine treasure or a universal monarch's jewel, that can be found. But a soldier matched to one's heart cannot be found like Hanuman. His wit and wisdom are able; his battle-power is bold and brave. Wherever he is sent, the royal work is done. His merit is beyond measuring by thousands." Having spoken, he mounted Indra's chariot. The monkey lords shouted fiercely, and he dismissed the great army back to the pavilion.

Then the yaksha messengers Saran saw King Satlung the asura and Trimekha dead and were shocked. Fear made their bodies tremble and their spirits fly, as if they could sink into the earth. They forced their way through the forest, going straight to the city of Lanka.

When they arrived, they bowed their heads and reported to Raphanasura the yaksha: "Your life-sharing friend and Prince Trimekha, your nephew, the two kings, went out to fight, contending and killing in battle until their lives ended, together with all the soldiers and armies."

Then battle-skilled King Thotsakan learned that his powerful friend, ruler of Chakkrawan, and his royal nephew of the Solar Line had both lost their lives. His breast burned as if he had fallen into doomsday fire. The demon king sank in grief. His face paled at once. The asura sighed deeply. Love and regret overwhelmed him as he longed for the two kings. Grieving as if he would collapse, the yaksha forced himself up from the splendid jeweled seat and entered the shining palace.

When he arrived, he slowly sat beside Queen Montho and spoke fair words: "My life-sharing queen, my friend and nephew raised their troops and armies, went out in force, and battled the enemy host. Horses, chariots, elephants, and demon troops died without number, and both lords lost their lives by the power of humans and forest-monkeys."

Then beloved Montho heard the royal command and was shocked, grieving for the two kings. Tears flowed down the channels of her eyes. Deeply sorrowing, she laid her face at his feet and answered: "Your Majesty, of Brahma's line, jeweled umbrella above the yakshas' heads, pillar of the world, refuge of your people at your lotus feet: this age of calamity has no happiness or peace. It is because of young Sida that fighting has continued. I ask Your Majesty, wise and powerful, to think of making peace instead. Then the asuras throughout the royal city of Lanka will be cool at the head."

Then Raphanasura, skilled in war, heard his chief queen plead in speech. It was like a poisoned barb driven into the yaksha's heart. His anger grew beyond a thousandfold, and the asura's heart tightened in resentment. With ten mouths he gave royal command: "Alas! How can you say such a thing? Would you have me, who possess fierce power, bend and beg before those enemy wretches? It would be shame and disgrace before gods and adepts. They would laugh and mock forever, as long as sun and moon endure." Having spoken, he strode from the shining seat, looked at none of the palace women, and entered the radiant golden chamber.

He reclined on the couch, raised his hand across his face, and sat silent, thinking of the enemy. "This war is very strong. The humans are skilled with arrows, and the monkey troops are heavy-handed. Whenever those in the yaksha Solar Line are sent out to break them, they are shattered, killed, and defeated again and again, unable to withstand their skill. Even when I myself went out to seek victory, I lost advantage. Horses, chariots, elephants, and brave fourfold troops on left and right died beyond counting, and the enemy grew stronger and more powerful. I must perform the ahuti, the Kala Kich tunnel rite, so I will endure the enemy's weapons. Only then can I think of avenging myself on them."

Having considered this, he bathed and adorned himself. When the sun's light brightened at dawn, the yaksha came out to the jeweled throne hall.

When he arrived, he sat above the throne, with ministers on left and right. Then he gave royal command to Paowanasun the asura: "Dig a tunnel under the earth near splendid Nilakala mountain. Make it spacious, pure, and clean, with offerings for the Kala fire. Then take a stone slab to seal the great tunnel. I will perform the self-restraint rite and empower my body. If seven nights and seven days are completed, this body will become a magical body. Even weapons from all directions of the three worlds will not be able to take my life. Then I will bring divine charmed water to prepare the troops and warriors, and we will march out to fight and destroy the hostile kings."

Then Paowanasun the yaksha received the command of the lord who ruled the earth, offered joined hands, and came out.

He levied demon troops carrying baskets, chisels, axes, crowbars, hoes, spades, and knives. When all was ready, they hurried away together.

When they reached the slope of the great mountain named Nilakala, he ordered the whole army to dig a splendid tunnel.

Then the brave troops each took up the work, digging and carrying in busy confusion together.

When it was finished, they set a jeweled throne beneath a shining white umbrella, spread canopies with hanging golden tassels, and hung alternating lamps. Jeweled and golden lamps stood on both sides along the walls. Clean mats were spread, and offerings and sacrificial implements were set out. Seven-colored flowers, a thousand of each kind, were placed in golden trays of different colors. Golden and jeweled pots stood shining, filled with water and arranged in the inner chamber. Then he ordered the asura-yakshas to lift a great stone slab and set it near the tunnel mouth, as the royal command had required.

Then the twenty-armed yaksha king, when the splendid tunnel was finished, came to the bathing place.

He bathed his body in flowing water. The sweet scent of pollen spread everywhere. He wore spreading divine perfume and a white udumbara cloth patterned with vines. His diagonal chest-cloth was fine Khmer fabric, splendid like a work made by Brahma. He put on a shining sacred thread and bright golden rosary. He dusted himself with powder, tied up his hair in a matted crown, and took the form of a divine rishi. With a jeweled loincloth and head-circlet complete, the asura came to mount the chariot.

He dismissed the army, and the charioteer drove like a cutting wind, aiming for Nilakala mountain and turning along the road.

When he arrived, he gave royal command to the demon ministers: "I will perform the knowledge-rite in this great tunnel. You must close the door with the stone slab. Let no one know the place. Smooth sand over it and cover it well, then take the asura troops back. When seven days are complete, come and open the mouth of the great tunnel. I will march out to seek victory and kill the enemies until their lives end." Having given the command, he stepped from the pearl-jeweled chariot-seat, beautiful as supreme Brahma, and descended to the ritual tunnel.

Then Paowanasun the yaksha received the command of the lord who ruled the earth. The asura called and hurried the troops to lift the broad stone slab and close the great tunnel's doorway. They spread sand and smoothed it over, and officers and common soldiers returned.

Then the ten-headed yaksha of the Solar Line stood near the tunnel door and recited the kingly spell.

By the force of the demon lord's spell, the heavy stone thundered and slid down three times, fastening tightly to the earth as if bound by a mechanism. Even humans, Garudas, asuras, or guardian spirits could lift and push as much as they wished, but it would not move. When that was done, he went straight into the ritual circle.

He lowered himself onto the jeweled throne beneath the shining white umbrella, raised his hands above his head in worship, and entered the Kala fire-pit. Then he sat in meditation, gathered his mind, contemplated Brahma's grace, closed his eyes, and recited the magic knowledge. The asura sat fixed and motionless.

Then the lord of the three worlds, surpassing all worlds, slept above the glittering jeweled couch until the sun's light shone bright. Birds woke and flew; cuckoos sent ringing calls; golden bees and flower-bees moved and hummed, tasting flowers. The gentle wind blew, carrying sweet pollen-scent. Gibbons cried through the deep forest, and the incarnate lord woke from sleep.

He washed, bathed, and adorned himself, shining like a drawn image of a god, then proceeded out to the radiant golden pavilion.

With Sukhrip, Hanuman, Angkhot the nephew of King Kosi, and all eighteen crowned ministers, the monkey lords bowed their heads and joined their hands, like stars in the sky, shining everywhere, surrounding the moon moving among clouds. Then he gave royal command to the yaksha astrologer: "Why has Lanka's army not marched out today to seek victory? It is strange to have the battle empty. What is the ten-faced one thinking? Is he making some trick? My doubt is multiplied beyond measure."

Then Phiphek of the yaksha Solar Line heard Phra Chakri's command and took the triple-eyed omen.

Calculating by the Three Vedas and the marks of the yakshas, he understood clearly without doubt in his spirit. He bowed his head and reported: "The war is empty today because the yakshas have lost two great armies. Satlung and Trimekha are dead, and no one is left to go out to fight. If the twenty-armed king himself were to march, he fears the power of Your Majesty's arrow. Now he has hidden himself and is performing a knowledge-rite in a tunnel at the foot of Nilakala, within the yaksha realm. The entrance is sealed with stone. If seven nights are completed, his body will turn to diamond and the yaksha's wish will succeed. If the asura king points a finger at anyone, that one will die. He will also prepare the troops so no one can kill them. Let victorious Sukhrip, Nilnon, and mighty Hanuman go to Lanka city and destroy the rite. Then the war will not be burdensome for the soldiers and troops."

Then Phra Narai, lord of the Solar Line, heard Phiphek the asura. The sky-ruling lord gave royal command, ordering the son of the Sun, the son of Vayu, and brave Nilnon: "You three wise and skilled chiefs, hurry together to the city of Lanka and destroy the great tunnel-rite of that vile Thotsakan. Do not let it succeed as he intends."

Then the three renowned monkeys received the command, bowed in farewell, and came out from the pavilion together.

Each displayed power. All ten directions shook and thundered. The air darkened with heavy smoke as they flew through the sky together.

They pressed through mist and out through the cloud-folds, aiming for Nilakala mountain. The three powerful chiefs glided down onto the peak. Looking over the earth below, they saw yaksha troops moving everywhere through the city. The monkeys consulted together: "If we destroy the ritual of the deluded ten-headed demon during daytime, they will see our bodies, and Phra Chakrit's royal work will not succeed. We must recite a spell to hide ourselves from the asura troops in the city." Having spoken, the three monkeys raised their hands above their heads, closed their eyes, gathered their senses, and recited the invisibility spell.

By the force of the practiced spell, their bodies and shadows vanished. The three chiefs came down from the mountain and roamed about looking for the stone slab.

They could hardly find the place. They circled and searched until they looked at the mountain foot and saw a stone slab as a sign. "Surely the tunnel mouth is right here." The three chiefs came in together and lifted the stone at once.

Whatever they did, it would not move or shift from its place. They wrestled and strained in turmoil until body and thought were exhausted. Then the son of the Sun said: "What is this stone? It seems wrong. Surely Thotsakan has made it powerful and sealed it with a spell. Son of Vayu, go report the matter and ask King Phiphek the yaksha. When you know the facts, hurry back. We two will wait here."

Then Hanuman, skilled in victory, gladly received his uncle's words, offered joined hands, and hurried away through the air.

He drifted through the sky like great Garuda. When he reached the golden victory-pavilion, he descended to the earth, bowed in worship to Phiphek the yaksha, reported the matter from the beginning, and asked: "Uncle, what do you think is best?"

Then King Phiphek the yaksha heard Hanuman's speech, and the asura answered: "The stone sealing the tunnel mouth cannot be lifted even by adepts or gods, because Lanka's lord has recited a spell and fastened it firmly. Take water used to wash a woman's feet and pour it on the stone slab. Its magic knowledge will fade. Nephew, hurry and work out how."

Then the divine son of Vayu heard Phiphek the yaksha, raised his hands in homage, and returned.

He reached the foot of Nilakala near the mouth of the great tunnel just as the sun's light was gone and the moon shone bright across the sky. He told Sukhrip, his uncle, exactly the stratagem Phiphek had given. "I will take leave to go find Benchakai the asura woman and ask for the foot-washing water of that noble lady to undo the yaksha's spell." Having spoken with joined hands, the monkey lord flew away by power.

When he reached the palace residence, delightful and splendid like Dusit, he hid from the enemy host and recited the mighty Vishnu-spell.

Both body and shadow vanished. The son of Vayu rejoiced greatly, climbed up onto the asura palace, and searched for Princess Benchakai.

He searched every chamber of the palace throughout the yaksha royal residence. He found her sitting and stringing flowers, and he rejoiced greatly. He released the invisibility spell and showed his body plainly. Sitting down close beside the lovely woman, he touched her face and comforted his beloved.

Then young, beautiful Benchakai saw brave Hanuman and rejoiced as if she had gained a piece of heaven. She lowered herself from her seat, joined her fingers, and bowed at both his feet. Love and resentment crowded her breast; the lady gave him a sidelong glare and said: "Why have you come to me, younger wife, here in the splendid palace chamber, in the asura's own residence? Do you not fear that your life will end?"

Then the wise and brave son of Vayu slipped close and embraced the lovely woman, answering with fair words: "Why speak this way, beautiful one? It is not that I do not love you, heart's beloved. I am compelled by the four-armed lord, who has sent me to fight the enemy. Because the war is not finished, beautiful one, you and I have been separated. Now Phra Chakri has commanded me to break Thotsakan's rite. I am blocked by the stone slab sealing the great tunnel mouth. I ask for the water from washing your feet, to undo that spell and make it fade."

Then fair Benchakai heard the son of Vayu's words and understood the truth of everything he explained. She reached out, took a golden bowl, washed her feet, caught the water, and gave it to him. Looking at her husband with longing, the noble woman joined her fingers in homage.

Then Hanuman, skilled in victory, received the goddess's foot-washing water and spoke fair words: "Stay calmly, heart's beloved. Do not grieve or be sorrowful. I must take leave now." Having spoken, he flew back.

He crossed the asura palace and reached the mouth of the great tunnel. He poured the noble woman's foot-washing water onto the face of the stone. Sukhrip and Nilnon then urged one another and lifted the slab that closed the tunnel door by the bodily strength of the monkey lords.

The demon lord's spell lost force and vanished. The stone came loose from the earth, and the monkey chiefs hurled it away by power. They saw the ten-faced yaksha worshipping in the Kala Kich rite, seated above the shining jeweled platform, mind gathered in meditation. The three chiefs rejoiced, clapped their hands, laughed aloud, brandished their mighty weapons, and walked straight down together.

Bold as three lions who had seen an elephant in the great forest, the powerful son of the Sun came near and kicked the asura. Nilnon struck him with his left foot, and the son of Vayu gripped the yaksha's head, dragging him down from the jeweled platform. The three crowded around him, beating him in turmoil.

Then King Thotsakan the yaksha was startled and opened his eyes, seeing the three monkeys. They crowded all around his body, hauling, dragging, and striking him. He could not bear it, yet he fought for victory only with restraint. He stood in equanimity and did not grow angry in the least. By the power of his mighty spell, his limbs were not hurt. However much they did, he remained fixed as if it were not his body. He endured, holding firmly to patience, intending to complete the rite as he wished.

Then the powerful son of the Sun saw that Thotsakan was not angry, but sat with eyes closed, fixed and stubborn. He was hardy, enduring, and firm; not even a hair was troubled. The monkeys struck and fought until they were exhausted. Then he said to noble Hanuman: "We have done things that should anger the asura, yet he will not rage and bring out his brave strength. How can Phra Avatar's royal work be accomplished this time?"

Then the divine son of Vayu heard this and answered: "In my wisdom I see it this way. Worldly desire is what beings guard jealously, like a snare binding all the world. By the nature of the three worlds, attachment and anger are close to one another."

Then Sukhrip, son of the Sun, heard the beloved nephew whose life was joined with his own. He clapped his hands, laughed gladly, and answered: "This thought is excellent, sharp and without equal. You, who possess fierce power, go into the asura palace. Cast sleep-spells and bring Montho, the lovely wife beloved by the yaksha, to this ritual tunnel. Make her husband angry."

Then the brave and mighty son of Vayu received the words of the son of the Sun, offered homage, and hurried away through the air.

When he reached the palace residence, Hanuman, well-disposed, quickly descended from the air to the earth below.

Standing in the moonlit court, he raised his hands over his head in homage and recited a powerful spell. The monkey lord cast sleep over them.

Then the asura-yaksha troops who sat on watch, tending the fires and patrolling, were struck by the monkey's magic. They grew drowsy and senseless. All the soldiers fell asleep, scattered across the ground, muttering in dreams.

Then brave Hanuman, the great soldier, saw the hosts of troops asleep and unaware of their bodies. The monkey lord walked in, climbed the great yaksha palace, hid himself, recited the powerful spell, and cast sleep over the palace women.

When seven rounds were complete, the earth shook and thundered. Darkness spread and covered the moonlight, and the doors opened.

Then beloved young Montho was inside the victory-palace with her palace women, bright as the moon surrounded by shining stars. When Hanuman's spell struck them, it made her dazed and senseless.

All the palace women fell asleep piled where they were. The chief queen herself had no one awake beside her.

Then the brave and mighty son of Vayu, when he had finished casting sleep, entered the great victory-palace.

He saw the women attendants sleeping in heaps beyond count, muttering in dreams without sense or awareness. But beautiful Queen Montho lay upon the splendid jeweled couch. The monkey lord lifted the chief queen in his arms and flew away.

When he arrived, he set her down beside the ten-faced yaksha, released the spell so her body woke, and spoke aloud: "Hey, hey, listen, ten-faced one. Is this your beloved wife or not?" Speaking so, the three chiefs mocked the noble lady and tugged her about.

Then fair Montho was shocked, almost losing her life, in pain and shame beyond measure. She screamed at once, and the young woman clung to the yaksha. "My king, help your wife! The three monkeys went and brought me here."

Then the ten-headed yaksha of the Solar Line opened his eyes and saw the woman while the monkeys pulled her about in confusion. His rage could no longer be endured. His body shook in fury like a blazing fire. He seized and broke the shaft of the victory umbrella and chased them, striking to kill.

Then the three warriors skilled in battle received and guarded against him, while the monkeys mocked the asura. Sukhrip pointed at his face and laughed, tricking him to chase and then pretending to flee. The son of Vayu and powerful Nilnon, the two monkeys, grabbed at the lady and cried: "Ho, demon lord! What is this? Why are you not reciting your spell, sitting still and intent in meditation? Why are you angry and troubled? As for your wife, whom you love: you can steal another man's wife, but this is allowed? If the lord of the three worlds had not sent us to break the rite, we would kill you dead and spare no yaksha life. We hold back only because we fear crossing Phra Chakri's command." Having spoken, the three monkeys flew away.

When they reached the golden victory-pavilion, just as sunrise brightened the sky, the three chiefs came down from the clouds and attended the king.

Each bowed his head at the feet of the arrow-bearing lord of the three worlds. The powerful son of the Sun offered joined hands and reported: "The three of us, Your Majesty's servants, went and broke the great tunnel-rite of victorious Thotsakan. It has been accomplished according to the command."

Then Phra Kritsanurak, the lord, heard the son of the Sun. The sky-ruling lord rejoiced greatly and praised the three monkeys: "Your sharp wisdom has not failed. You are worthy to be of the line of celestial guardians, like powerful universal gems. Wherever you are sent, the work succeeds as I think. You are bold fangs of battle, proud and brave. Your merit is beyond counting; nothing under heaven equals it." Having spoken, he walked from the shining seat and entered the radiant golden pavilion.
