This room holds central documents of the Book of Concord (1580), the confessional standard of the Lutheran churches. They are the Augsburg Confession presented to Emperor Charles V in 1530 and Luther's Smalcald Articles of 1537, both in the translation of the Triglot Concordia (1921), and Luther's Small Catechism of 1529 in a modern public-domain translation. The Book of Concord also contains the three ecumenical creeds, Melanchthon's Apology of the Augsburg Confession, his Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope, Luther's Large Catechism and the Formula of Concord, which are not yet on this shelf. Each page names the translation it preserves.
