This room gathers folklore from the villages along the upper Indus in the old Hazara district, near Attock, home to Pathan, Awan and other communities. Its collections were made by British officials from the tales told in village guest-houses by farmers and by the Merasi bards and genealogists; they are printed with their compilers' explanatory notes, and their introductions say plainly what the compilers did and did not record about their tellers.
