This room holds the Maya of Yucatán: Daniel G. Brinton's The Maya Chronicles (1882), which prints chronicles from the Books of Chilan Balam in Maya with his English translation, and Charles P. Bowditch's Mayan Nomenclature (1906), an essay on the Maya names of periods of time that argues from the same books. Each edition names its witness and translator, and keeps the scholarship of its own time.
