Treat the people and handle the state;
Have you done so without cunning?

Your third-eye ever opens and closes;
Dare you submit to what you see?

Illumine and clarify all depths;
Are you unsullied by knowledge?

In life and in cultivation:
Living without grasping
Acting without expecting
Leading without controlling
That's depth of Character

載營魄抱一，能無離乎

專氣致柔，能如嬰兒乎

滌除玄覽，能無疵乎

愛民治國，能無為乎

天門開闔，能為雌乎

明白四達，能無知乎

生之畜之
生而不有
為而不恃
長而不宰
