The Breton shelf begins with a complete anonymous nineteenth-century English translation of sixteen legends. Saints, korrigans, spectral beings, wonder tales, local landscapes, and moral narratives appear through an explicitly Catholic editorial frame. The translation names neither its French source edition nor its English translator; those missing attributions remain catalog limits rather than invitations to invent certainty.
