Hymn to the Viśvedevas (All-Gods)

2. May Mitra and Varuṇa grant us this: shelter for our child and our offspring, as our protectors. May we not bear the sin brought by another; may we never do, O Vasus, what you punish.
3. May the eager Aṅgirases, imploring it, reach the treasure of the god Savitṛ. And may the great, worshipful Father grant us that same gift; may all the gods, of one mind, favor it.
Translator's note: "pūr" in verse 1 (rendered "stronghold") carries the sense of a fortress or protective wall; "the Father" in verse 3 is named without further qualifier in the Sanskrit and is left as such rather than assigned to a specific god.
