A Good Works Translation from EDCS and Heidelberg Controls
Around Cologne and Germania Inferior, the Mother Goddesses appear not as one abstract figure but as many local Matronae: Audrinehae, Autriahenae, Aufaniae, Afliabus, Andrustehiabus, Boudunneihis, and others. These Latin dedications preserve a dense regional cult of named mothers, family vows, soldiers, freedmen, and local communities.

Reader Note
All thirteen inscriptions are Latin. Their Celtic and regional value lies in the Mother-Goddess cult names, the local epithets, and the social setting of the dedications. Some bynames may preserve local, Celtic, Germanic, or mixed provincial naming material; the page does not force those names into English etymologies.
The dossier is intentionally regional. Cologne and Germania Inferior give a thick inscriptional field where the Matronae appear with repeated local epithets, household vows, military donors, women donors, official civic space, and formulas such as ex imperio ipsarum, "by command of the goddesses themselves." The result is a record-by-record view of living provincial cult practice, not a mythic story about the Mothers.
Colophon
This page translates thirteen Latin Matronae inscriptions for the Continental Celtic expansion of the Good Works Library. The English is source-close: divine bynames are preserved, common vow formulae are translated, and damaged or formula-light inscriptions are not filled out beyond the source. EDCS was used as the broad discovery route, with Heidelberg inscription pages used as direct controls for the selected records.
Compiled and formatted for the Good Works Library by the New Tianmu Anglican Church, 2026.
