A Good Works Translation from EDCS and Heidelberg Controls
Sucellus is a smaller but important Gallo-Roman divine-name lane. The records gathered here include a single explicit pairing with Nantosuelta, dedications to Sucellus alone, and syncretic or uncertain pairings with Silvanus. The English keeps the Latin formulas plain and leaves damaged names visible.

Reader Note
The dossier is smaller than the Epona, Matronae, Belenus, Sequana, and Rosmerta clusters, but it closes an important named-god lane. The key record is Sarrebourg: Deo Sucello / Nantosueltae, the explicit Sucellus and Nantosuelta pairing. The other records show Sucellus as a recipient of vows in Gaul, Germania, Britain, and Dacia.
The page does not expand Sucellus or Nantosuelta into a mythic narrative. The evidence here is dedicatory: divine names, vow formulae, occasional local epithets, and a few civic or official contexts.
Colophon
This page translates nine Latin records from the inspected EDCS Sucello query and checks the single EDCS Nantosueltae query hit for the Continental Celtic expansion of the Good Works Library. The English is source-close: damaged names stay damaged, uncertain restorations are marked, and common vow formulae are translated consistently.

The EDCS Sucello and Nantosueltae queries were captured and inspected on 2026-05-14 at Tulku/Tools/celtic/sources/continental_batch_2026-05-14/edcs_sucellus_nantosuelta_cluster/edcs_sucello_query.json and edcs_nantosueltae_query.json. Seven Heidelberg controls were captured the same day in the same source folder: edh_HD024714.html, edh_HD023042.html, edh_HD080277.html, edh_HD054767.html, edh_HD025567.html, edh_HD076796.html, and edh_HD044120.html. EDCS is used here as a discovery and control route, not as a replacement for the printed corpora named in each record.
The Nantosueltae query returned only the Sarrebourg Sucellus/Nantosuelta inscription already present in the Sucello query. No EDCS or Heidelberg images are reproduced.
