In a single morning the world overturns, and the ten thousand affairs are all empty. Karmic hindrance binds the body; the shadowed soul suffers."

Today, in reverence to the Dao, I, [name], prostrate myself on behalf of this observance, to deliver and commend the departed: [name], together with our ancestors and kin, the orphaned and the solitary, and all the host of departed souls, who, once they cast off their bonds to this dust, have long sunk in the shadowed dark. Unless their sins and transgressions are repented away, they cannot escape the paths of suffering.

Reverently we consider the Merciful Worthy Who Rescues from Suffering, whose title has flourished through a hundred million kalpas, whose breath answers to the Nine Yang. He sends forth his auspicious light to illumine every darkened road, and sprinkles sweet dew to nourish the ten thousand kinds of being everywhere. Relying on the wondrous power of his awesome spirit, he draws up the sunken and drowned souls of the dead. Therefore we set out lamps and incense, offer flowers and pour water, pour out the sincere devotion of our sunflower-turned hearts, and open the fragrant ground of repentance.

The true soul of [name], having taken on this illusory body and its given form, could hardly help but cling to worldly scenes: stained throughout by the six kinds of dust, entangled by the three karmas. Through past lives and this present life he never once awoke — defying Heaven and offending Earth, profiting himself at others' expense, killing, stealing, and committing lust, lying, cheating, and deceiving, loving wealth and goods, greedily receiving, chasing after sound and color and sinking into confusion. His every act went astray; he clung to glory and would not let it go. Among a hundred wrongs there was not even one right; he used his cunning in a thousand schemes and ten thousand devices, binding himself in the filth of sin. Of good there was not a hair's breadth; of evil, a mountain's mass. His accumulated offenses ran deep — were they plucked out hair by hair, they could not be counted. Wishing now to cleanse them, we first bring about their repentance. We prostrate and pray: may the great Dao let down its pity, may Heaven's grace pardon and forgive, so that in the black earth all may come to see the light, and on the shadowed road all may come to share in clarity and stillness. May this grace and aid reach the suffering spirit and extend to all living beings. All of us bow our heads in worship and thanks.

願救普掠地獄劍樹斷筋之苦 太乙救苦天尊

苦魂沉九夜救苦遍尋聲 太乙救苦天尊

能救三途苦苦惱得痊平 太乙救苦天尊

眾苦悉消散賴此經懺勳 太乙救苦天尊

眾等志心皈依皈神皈身皈命

東宮慈父太乙救苦天尊

十方救苦天尊

大慈大悲救苦真人

大慈大悲大惠真人

救苦會中真仙聖眾

恭望洪慈。洞囘昭格。普降洪恩。懺悔亡過。正魂 某人幻身賦形。寍無着景。六塵遍染。三業縈纏。夙世今生。會無覺悟。違天犯地。利己損人。殺盜邪淫。虛誣詐偽好貨財而貪受逐聲色以耽迷。舉動有乖。榮為弗捨。百非一是。巧用心機萬目千條。結成罪垢。善無纖毫。惡有丘山。積釁探深。擢髮難數。欲期洗滌。先致懺除伏願。大道垂憐。天恩赦宥。庶使黑壤。咸得覩於光明。俾令幽途。悉得沾於清靜。惠資苦爽利及群生。眾等稽首禮謝。

志心朝禮

太上無極大道 三十六部尊經 玄中大法真師

願度亡魂往生東極宮

眾等。皈依莫盡而獻頌曰

天尊頌睿旨 勅下幽冥途

靈官賫白簡 童子捧龍符

地府悉開通 亡魂罪消除

超度出冥途 接引東極宮

向來禮懺功德。悉於週龍。仰望天顏。俯從人欲。十方三界。普覃浩蕩之恩。四生六道。共沐汪洋之澤。咸蒙護度。悉荷昇遷。一切有情。同躋大道。為上良因。

志心稱念

太乙救苦天尊 生天得道天尊

逍遙快樂天尊 不可思議功德

願以此功德 普及於一切

誦懺薦亡魂 皆共成妙道
