Philippine literatures belong to many languages, peoples, scripts, islands, religions, and diasporas. The present shelf opens two distinct language doors: Tagalog, with Poblete's complete 1909 translation of Rizal's Noli Me Tangere, and Cebuano, with Vicente Rama's complete 1921 collection-text of Larawan. Begin with the literary introduction or reader's guide. Neither Tagalog nor Cebuano stands for Filipino, every Visayan language, or the whole archipelago; each work remains an exact historical edition inside a much larger field.
