The Caucasus shelf gathers the public texts, source dossiers, and support pages currently held under this tradition room. Use this page as a doorway into the shelf rather than as a complete history of the tradition.

Main Doorways

Kartvelian Folk-Tale Doorway

  • Introduction to Kartvelian Literary Traditions separates Georgian, Mingrelian, Laz, and Svan and explains the present shelf's limits.
  • Georgian Folk Tales preserves Wardrop's complete English anthology: sixteen Georgian-source tales, eight Mingrelian tales, twenty-eight Mingrelian proverbs, and fourteen Gurian tales.
  • Read Part II as a distinct Mingrelian room and Part III as a Gurian regional selection. The work contains no Georgian or Mingrelian source text, and it does not yet provide Laz or Svan holdings.

Suggested Use

Begin with the introduction if one is present, then move into the rooms or individual texts listed above. For technical terms, names, and recurring concepts, use the local glossary on this shelf together with the central Good Works Glossary.
